  • This paper presents a new Nearest-Neighbors based weighted representation for images and weighted K-Nearest-Neighbors (WKNN) classifier to improve the precision of image classification using the Bag of Visual Words (BOVW) based models. Scale-invariant feature transform (SIFT) features are firstly extracted from images. Then, the K-means++ algorithm is adopted in place of the conventional K-means algorithm to generate a more effective visual dictionary. Furthermore, the histogram of visual words becomes more expressive by utilizing the proposed weighted vector quantization (WVQ). Finally, WKNN classifier is applied to enhance the properties of the classification task between images in which similar levels of background noise are present. Average precision and absolute change degree are calculated to assess the classification performance and the stability of K-means++ algorithm, respectively. Experimental results on three diverse datasets: Caltech-101, Caltech-256 and PASCAL VOC 2011 show that the proposed WVQ method and WKNN method further improve the performance of classification.

  • This paper is focused on the modulation scheme detection of the IEEE 802.11 standard. In the IEEE 802.11ac standard, the information of the modulation scheme is indicated by the modulation coding scheme (MCS) included in the VHT-SIG-A of the preamble field. Transmitting end determines the MCS index suitable for the low signal to noise ratio (SNR) situation and transmits the data accordingly. Since data field decoding can take place only when the receiving end acquires the MCS index information of the frame. Therefore, accurate MCS detection must be guaranteed before data field decoding. However, since the MCS index information is the information obtained through preamble field decoding, the detection rate can be affected significantly in a low SNR situation. In this paper, we propose a relatively robust modulation classification method based on deep learning to solve the low detection rate problem with a conventional method caused by a low SNR.

  • Place recognition is necessary for a mobile user to be provided with place-dependent information. This paper proposes real-time video based place recognition system that identifies users' current place while moving in the building. As for the feature extraction of a scene, there have been existing methods based on global feature analysis that has drawback of sensitive-ness for the case of partial occlusion and noises. There have also been local feature based methods that usually attempted object recognition which seemed hard to be applied in real-time system because of high computational cost. On the other hand, researches using statistical methods such as HMM(hidden Markov models) or bayesian networks have been used to derive place recognition result from the feature data. The former is, however, not practical because it requires huge amounts of efforts to gather the training data while the latter usually depends on object recognition only. This paper proposes a combined approach of global and local feature analysis for feature extraction to complement both approaches' drawbacks. The proposed method is applied to a mobile information system and shows real-time performance with competitive recognition result.

  • This is an analytical study on Munheongak (文獻閣) and it's catalogue. The major objective of the study is to get a recognition of Munheongak under the culture of Sukjong (肅宗) period in Korean library history. Most of early studies made on such a category have been concentrated on Jiphyunjeon (集賢殿), Hongmungwan (弘文館), Kyujanggak(奎章閣) and their backgrounds. In this study, the author has invest gated Kungwolji (宮闕志), Munheongakseomg (文獻閣書目) and other materials related to this subject. The findings of the study can be summarized as follows: 1. Munheongak was established by king Sukjong in the 26th year of his reign. According to some records of Kungkwolji, the reason of establishment of the library was to arrange the collection in the Sango (相庫) consisted of various kinds of materials. In case of books, most of them turned out to be Korean books. 2. Munheongak was sited to the estern side of Kyunghyundang (景賢堂), which was located on the Kyungdeokgung (慶德宮). After Youngjo (英祖) the place was called Kyungheuigung (慶熙宮) so as to avoid the name of the precedent king. But these days, both the buildings are not to be found. 3. After its establishment, the library could not play the role as a library because of the then political situation and sectionalism. During the period of the revival of the learning from Youngjo till Jeongjo(正祖) the function of the library was in a stagnant state. Kyujanggak played the part in its place. 4. Referring to the collection management, the Munheongakseomog is equipped with 101 titles, 2,525 volumes, which are arranged by means of the traditional Chinese classification system. 5. The classification scheme is based on the traditional Chinese classification system which might divide all subjects into four categories such as: Confucian classics division, Historical documents division, Master's division, and Collection of literature division. Some illustrations reveal that the classification system was directly influenced by Seogoseomg (書庫書目) : the influence reflected in the classes for the translated literature and writings, poems, genealogy about kings, etc. But some subdivisions such as a class of Annals, Historical Epcerpts were omitted in the classification scheme, which did not strike the balance in the system in terms of the present theory of classification. Most of bibliographical descriptions were also influenced by Seogoseomog but some elements were partly omitted. 6. The special feature of the collection building is the absence of books in Collection of literature division except only three kinds of books in examining the Munheongakseomog. Since this is rather a comprehensive study for such aspects as historical backround, catalogue, and cultural environment of Munheongak and its related record, it is advised that further and additional research should be made.

  • Ship design process requires lots of complicated analyses for determining a large number of design variables. Due to its complexity, the process is divided into several tractable designs or analysis problems. The interdependent relationship requires repetitive works. This paper employs collaborative optimization (CO), one of the multidisciplinary design optimization (MDO) techniques, for treating such complex relationship. CO guarantees disciplinary autonomy while maintaining interdisciplinary compatibility due to its bi-level optimization structure. However, the considerably increased computational time and the slow convergence have been reported as its drawbacks. This paper proposes the use of an approximation model in place of the disciplinary optimization in the system-level optimization. Neural network classification is employed as a classifier to determine whether a design point is feasible or not. Kriging is also combined with the classification to make up for the weakness that the classification cannot estimate the degree of infeasibility. For the purpose of enhancing the accuracy of a predicted optimum and reducing the required number of disciplinary optimizations, an approximation management framework is also employed in the system-level optimization.

  • The objective of this study was to establish Facility classification for military barracks among military facilities. The military barracks are the place where soldiers spend most of their time. Thus, a new type of space in military barracks is required to improve the quality of life of the soldiers and make the military more advanced for national defense. The research method was to derive problems through a survey of the previous literature and case studies and to select target places in the Army, Navy, Air Force, and Marine based on the derived problems. An improvement scheme was proposed by developing criteria for military barracks spaces through a questionnaire survey. The following results were obtained: Facility classification inside of national defense military facility standard should be reorganized. The alternative plan is demanded for some camp which has no need about setting up the office facility. And the study of reasonable facility area after improvementing facility categorization is required.

  • Purpose: Purpose: The National Safety Experience Center Establishment and Reinforcement Project Management Guidelines, established to build a national safety experience center that is central to practicing education on disasters and safety accidents, requires that appropriate experience training programs be in place. However, due to the lack of classification grounds for the six areas of disaster•safety accidents presented by the Ministry of Public Administration and Security, and the mortality statistics necessary for establishing sectors have accumulated for over a decade, they are based on this. Our purpose is to standardize classification of sectors belonging to each area. Methods: We will divide disaster•safety accidents into 6 areas by three steps, and the grounds for 6 areas of accidents are presented. The 15 external causes other than the disease since 2009 has been proposed by The National Statistical Office. Therefore on the basis of these causes, various sectors belonging to each area are classified. Results: We will divide all disaster•safety accidents into six areas through three logical separation stages, and the areas were systematically classified based on the 15 factors of death. In conclusion, we present the grounds for the classification criteria in the six areas, the transportation accident disaster area in three areas, the social infrastructure system area in four areas, the crime accident disaster area in four areas, the life safety accident area in four areas, we set up all disaster•safety accidents in six areas and finally standardize total 25 areas.
