Development of infants' pivotal behaviors using the responsive interaction strategy of child care teachers (보육교사의 반응성 상호작용 전략 적용을 통한 영아의 중심축 행동 발달)

  • This is a case study on how infants' behaviors change after their child care teachers use Responsive Interactions to them. The participants are five infants and five child care teachers from five employer-supported child care centers run and managed by H foundation. This study analyzes the changes in infants' pivotal developmental behaviors based on interactions between an infant and a child care teacher in video recordings, anecdotal records, Reflective Journal written by the teachers, and data on in-depth interviews with the child care teachers. The results show that Responsive Interactions have brought positive changes to infants' pivotal developmental behaviors(Attention to Activity, Problem Solving Persistence, Involvement, Cooperation, Initiation, Joint Attention and Affect). It suggests that child care teachers who are in charge of taking care of infants should realize and practice the importance of Responsive Interaction Strategy in order to help the infants develop their pivotal behaviors.

Mother-Child Interactions in Preschool Children Who Stutter (학령전기 말더듬아동의 어머니-아동 상호작용 행동특성)

  • This study was to examine the relationship between maternal interactive behaviors and stuttering behaviors in preschool children who stutter. Participants were twenty-four children who stutter and their mothers. For the purpose of the current study, 5$\sim$10 minutes of 50 minutes videotaped scenes originally collected to develop fluency assessment instrument were re-videotaped. They included mother-child interactions during playing with toys and reading book situations. Mothers-children interactive behaviors were assessed with Maternal Behavior Rating Sroles(MBRS) and Child Behavior Rating Scales (CBRS). And children's stuttering were assessed with Paradise-Fluency Assessment(P-FA). The results were as follows: 1) the maternal interactive behavior did not significantly differ depending on situations, but scores of maternal responsive factor were higher in the play situation than in the reading situation. 2) Maternal responsiveness might influence on promoting the children's pivotal behavior with children who stutter. And 3) the level of maternal responsiveness was the predictor of children's stuttering behaviors. The therapeutic implication of the results were discussed.

A Study on the Relationship between Intra-team Conflict and Team Innovative Performance and the Mediating Role of Team Learning Behaviors in R&D Teams (연구개발팀에서 팀내 갈등과 팀 혁신성과간의 관계에서 팀 학습행동의 매개역할)

  • In this era of cut-throat competition, innovation is a source of competitive advantage, and securing core competency through innovation plays a pivotal role in ensuring the survival and growth of an organization. In an organization, R&D team is a core division driving innovation, and creative tension and conflict among researchers fuels innovative performance. Despite heated debate over the positive and negative effects of conflict, insufficiently-identified process factors have left sophisticated mechanisms between conflicts and effects unaddressed. This study assumes that team learning behaviors can bean important process factor given that conflict propels learning, and that learning is a decisive factor in creating competitive advantage. This study conducted an empirical analysis of the relationship between relationship/task conflict and team innovative performance, and the mediating role of team learning behaviors using data collected from a questionnaire sent out to the heads of 262 R&D teams and second highest-ranking officials thereof. The analysis conducted based on structural equation model indicates that relationship conflict has negatively affected team learning behaviors, whereas task conflict has positively influenced team learning behaviors(full mediation effect), team learning behaviors has positively influenced team innovative performance. Based on these results, the study has suggested implications of intra-team conflict and team learning behaviors for team innovative performance.

Effects of a Responsive Parenting Education Program on Child's Behavioral Problems and Pivotal Developmental Behaviors in Children at Risk for Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD 위험 아동에 대한 반응성 부모교육이 아동의 문제행동과 중심축 발달행동에 미치는 효과)

  • Purpose: This study was done to determine whether a parenting education program using responsive teaching strategies is effective for parenting stress, maternal interactional behavior and behavioral problems in children at risk for Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD). Methods: Participants in this study were 17 elementary school children and their parents. The ADHD risk group was determined by scores on the Korean-ADHD Rating Scale. The parenting education program was developed based on Dr. Mahoney's responsive teaching curriculum. Mothers participated in the program once a week for 8 sessions. Treatment outcome was evaluated using the Korean version of the Child Behavior CheckList (K-CBCL), parenting stress, maternal interactional behavior, and child pivotal developmental behavior. Data were analyzed using Wilcoxon signed rank test, Mann-Whitney test, and regression analysis. Results: After the parenting education program, no significant difference in parenting stress (Z=-1.00, p=.320) was found, but there was a significant decrease in the child's internal behavior problems (Z=-2.05, p=.040), and also a significant improvement in maternal interactional behavior and a significant difference in child pivotal developmental behavior (Z=-2.67, p=.008). Conclusion: The results indicate that parenting education programs based on responsive teaching strategies are effective and that application of a program is recommended to prevent behavioral problems and improve maternal child interaction for children at risk for ADHD.

The Impact of Appearance Management Behavior on Oral Practice Behavior of Some College Students (일부 대학생의 외모관리 행동이 구강건강 행동에 미치는 영향)

  • Purpose : The college student period is pivotal for establishing oral health management behaviors and habits that persist in adulthood; it is necessary to develop the correct behaviors. Appearance management behavior not only involves the management of an individual's appearance but also ensures a healthy quality of life. Additionally, it is related to health and oral health behavior. The purpose of this study was to determine how college students' appearance management behavior affects their oral health management behavior and to provide basic data for developing policies appropriate for the lifestyle of college students. Methods : A self-administered questionnaire was completed by 450 university students in Gyeonggi, Choung-nam, Daejeon on April 27, 2022. The survey comprised 5 questions about general characteristics, 18 about appearance management behavior, and 8 about oral health behavior. The sum of the practice questions were calculated, with higher scores indicating better oral health behavior. Results : The oral health management behavior exhibited was generally high. Notably, the health-related group (61.2 %) demonstrated significantly higher levels of clothing management (60.5 %), makeup management (56.6 %), and skincare (56.6 %) behaviors, whereas body management behavior (61.2 %) was deemed 'normal' (p<.05). The results of the stepwise multiple regression analysis examining the impact of appearance management behavior on oral health management indicated that clothing management (β=0.17) and skincare behaviors (β=0.12) were influential factors. Among these, clothing management behavior was the most influential. Conclusion : To promote oral health practices among college students, this study incorporated factors related to appearance management into oral health education to increase participation and interest. We intend our findings to serve as foundational data for developing oral health education programs that integrate elements of appearance management.

Finite Difference Nonlinear Analysis of Composite Plate Structures with Various Layer Sequences (다양한 적층 배열을 갖는 복합 신소재 판 구조물의 유한차분 비선형 해석)

  • This study carries out a finite difference nonlinear analysis of anisotropic advanced composite plate structures with various layer sequences. In the numerical analysis of various mechanical problems involving complex partial differential equations, the finite difference method (FDM) developed in this study has an advantage over the finite element method in its ability to avoid mesh generation and numerical integration. Many studies in FDM have been made on clamped or simple boundary conditions using merely an energy approach. These approaches cannot be satisfied, however, with pivotal points along the free boundary. Therefore, this study addresses the nonlinear problem of anisotropic plates by adopting a finite difference modeling elimination of pivotal difference points in the case of a free boundary condition. Complex nonlinear behaviors of composite plate structures for various parameters, especially for layer sequences, are analyzed using the proposed approach.

Studies on Relations between Goodness of Fit in Mother-children Temperament Interaction and Problem Behaviors of Children (모-자녀 기질 적합성과 자녀의 문제행동간의 관련성 연구)

  • Objectives The purpose of this study was to identify the importance of goodness of fit in mother-child temperamental interaction (MCTI) and the child problem behaviors. Methods The behavior problem of 180 child outpatients from traditional Korean medical clinic was measured with Korean version of Child Behavior Checklists, and the temperament of child and their mother was measured with Junior Temperament and Character Inventory and Temperament and Character Inventory-Revised-Short. The MCTI was calculated as the difference of the temperament score between mother and child. The correlation and linear regression analysis was performed to examine the effects of temperament on Child Behavior Checklists. Results The MCTI on Harm-Avoidance was the significant factor for explaining the internalizing problem (B=-.154, t=-10.130, p<.001), externalizing problem (B=-.045, t=-3.340, p=.001) and total problem (B=-.298, t=-7.574, p<.001). We also confirmed that the temperament of mother and child significantly correlated with the child behavior problems as provided previously. Conclusions These results showed that the temperament interaction between mother and child is an important factor for predicting problem behaviors in child clinical sample. The goodness of fit in MCTI and problem behavior should be considered as pivotal element in traditional Korean pediatrics.

Psychosocial support interventions for women with gestational diabetes mellitus: a systematic review

  • Purpose: This study aimed to analyze the content and effectiveness of psychosocial support interventions for women with gestational diabetes mellitus (GDM). Methods: The following databases were searched with no limitation of the time period: Ovid-MEDLINE, Cochrane Library, Ovid-Embase, CINAHL, PsycINFO, NDSL, KoreaMed, RISS, and KISS. Two investigators independently reviewed and selected articles according to the predefined inclusion/exclusion criteria. ROB 2.0 and the RoBANS 2.0 checklist were used to evaluate study quality. Results: Based on the 14 selected studies, psychosocial support interventions were provided for the purpose of (1) informational support (including GDM and diabetes mellitus information; how to manage diet, exercise, stress, blood glucose, and weight; postpartum management; and prevention of type 2 diabetes mellitus); (2) self-management motivation (setting goals for diet and exercise management, glucose monitoring, and enhancing positive health behaviors); (3) relaxation (practicing breathing and/or meditation); and (4) emotional support (sharing opinions and support). Psychosocial supportive interventions to women with GDM lead to behavioral change, mostly in the form of self-care behavior; they also reduce depression, anxiety and stress, and have an impact on improving self-efficacy. These interventions contribute to lowering physiological parameters such as fasting plasma glucose, glycated hemoglobin, and 2-hour postprandial glucose levels. Conclusion: Psychosocial supportive interventions can indeed positively affect self-care behaviors, lifestyle changes, and physiological parameters in women with GDM. Nurses can play a pivotal role in integrative management and can streamline the care for women with GDM during pregnancy and following birth, especially through psychosocial support interventions.

A comprehensive stress analysis in a functionally graded spherical pressure vessel: Thermo-elastic, elastoplastic and residual stress analysis

  • Analyzing thermoelastic, elastoplastic, and residual stresses is pivotal for deepening our insights into material characteristics, particularly in the engineering of advanced materials like functionally graded materials (FGM). This research delves into these stress types within a thick-walled sphere composed of Al-SiC FGM, employing a detailed successive approximation method (SAM) to pinpoint stress distributions under varied loading scenarios. Our investigation centers on how the sphere's structure responds to different magnitudes of internal pressure. We discover that under various states-thermoelastic, elastoplastic, and residual-the radial stresses are adversely impacted, manifesting negative values due to the compressive nature induced by internal pressures. Notably, the occurrence of reverse yielding, observed at pressures above 410 MPa, merits attention due to its significant implications on the sphere's structural integrity and operational efficacy. Employing the SAM allows us to methodically explore the nuanced shifts in material properties across the sphere's thickness. This study not only highlights the critical behaviors of Al-SiC FGM spheres under stress but also emphasizes the need to consider reverse yielding phenomena to maintain safety and reliability in their application. We advocate for ongoing refinement of analytical techniques to further our understanding of stress behaviors in various FGM configurations, which could drive the optimized design and practical application of these innovative materials in diverse engineering fields.

Effect of Importance of Selection Attributes on Satisfaction and Repurchase of Nostalgic Desserts among 20's

The primary objective is to scrutinize how different attributes like quality, health, convenience, and trend influence customer satisfaction and their subsequent decision to repurchase nostalgic desserts. Research Method: The study leverages structural equation modeling, incorporating statistical tools such as SPSS and AMOS for a thorough analysis. It involves collecting data over a specified period, followed by correlation and trend analyses to deduce patterns and relationships. Results: The findings reveal that attributes such as quality, health, convenience, and trend significantly impact customer satisfaction and repurchase intentions. Interestingly, economic factors appeared to have a negligible effect on these decisions. The study offers a comprehensive understanding of the factors that influence consumer decisions in the context of nostalgic desserts, providing valuable implications for both academic research and practical marketing strategies. Conclusions: The insights garnered from this research are pivotal for formulating marketing strategies for nostalgic dessert brands. It underscores the importance of accentuating quality, health, and trend in product offerings to boost customer satisfaction and encourage repurchases. The study also sheds light on the evolving nature of consumer preferences and the integral role of nostalgia in shaping purchasing behaviors.
