A study on the probabilistic methodology for the estimation of the remaining life of Pressurized pipelines containing active corrosion defects is presented. This reliability assessment is earned out using extream value distribution of the corroded defects instead of already published failure perssure moded like NG18 or ASME B31G. The failure probability of pipelines depends on the number of corroded defects. and it could be calculated directly as the area exceeded a defined L V(Limited Value of corrosion depth). The remaining life of pressurized pipelines can also be estimated by the PDF of extream value distribution as calculating the exceeded area with a defined failure probability.
A reliable assessment and analysis of the condition of high pressure and temperature steam pipelines requires defining stress state, which will take into consideration not just the impact of internal pressure and temperature but all applied loads. For that, usage of modeling and numerical methods for calculation and analysis of stress state is essential. The main aim of piping stress analysis is to check the design of piping layout, which will allow simple, efficient and economical piping supports and provide flexibility to the piping system for loads and stresses. The piping stress analysis is carried out using CAESER II software. By using this software we can evaluate stresses, stress ratios, flange condition, support loads, element forces and displacements at each node and points. In this paper, only the maximum and minimum displacement results are tabulated, which is also shown in detail by an example of main steam pipelines of UST Main Engine System [1].

Improvement was made on the free span analysis of the offshore pipelines. The effect of axial force (both tension and compressive force) can be explicitly applied to the current design code. The closed form solutions of beam-column equation were derived for the typical boundary conditions. The solutions can be used to find the natural frequencies of the span using the energy balance concept. The results can be applied to the current design code and will result more realistic calculation of free span lengths of offshore pipelines.
A procedure of free span and fatigue analysis of offshore pipelines was made per DNV-RP-F105, 2002. The new method includes the axial force and deflection load in pipelines. The screening criteria were used to calculate the allowable span lengths. The screening criteria allow small amplitudes of vortex-induced vibration due to wave and current loading. However, the induced pipe stress is very small and usually below the limit stress of a typical S-N curve. A simplified method was established to calculate the fatigue damage due to long-term current distribution. The long-term current statistics was assumed with a 3-parameter Weibull distribution. The fatigue damage was estimated for the span lengths obtained from the screening criteria for various conditions. Sample calculations show the effect of axial force for various boundary conditions.
There are a number of reported instances of actual pipeline rupture during power line faults caused by melting of the pipe wall. This type of hazard was considered to be among the most serious of AC effects on pipelines in an international survey, comparable to the personnel safety hazard. Moreover, resistance coupling is not only a risk when the pipeline parallels a power line but also when they cross. One method of minimizing the effects of resistive coupling is by maintaining an appropriate separation distance between the pipeline and tower. This paper investigate the experiment for separation distance between the powerline earth and pipelines.

In this study a modified ground strain model is developed for an equivalent earthquake load and is applied to the seismic analysis of buried pipelines, The ground strain can be obtained using the ratio of a maximum ground velocity to a wave propagation velocity. To reflect soil conditions and seismic characteristics the wave propagation velocity is evaluated by a proposed dispersion curve based on wave energy distribution. In order to verify the procedures the observed earthquake data and the results of this study are compared. For the application of an equivalent earthquake load to the seismic analysis the buried pipelines are modeled using the beam theory. the results of the analyses are compared with those of a dynamic analysis code and those obtained from the response displacement method. Finally various parametric studies considering different soil conditions and seismic loads are examined.
A camprehensive review of the expansion behavior of marine pipelines due to thermal and pressure change is presented based on research work over the last 10 years. The review is organized into five main sections, namely free expansion with uniform temperature, free expansion with temperature gradient, expansion with end restraints, expansion of pipe-in-pipe system, and lateral deviation (snaking). Based on the accumulated knowledge of the interactions between the soil and pipeline behavior, a whole pipeline system can be modeled by an accurate finite element method (FEM). This methodology requires a comprehensive understanding and engineering verification of the expansion behavior of marine pipelines.
The capacity of pipelines to resist collapse under external pressure and bending moment is a major aspect of deepwater pipeline design. Existing design codes present interaction equations that quantify pipeline capacities under such loadings, although reasonably accurate, are based on empirical data fitting of the bending strain, and assumed simplistic interaction with external pressure collapse. The rational model for collapse of deepwater pipelines, which are relatively thick with a diameter-to-thickness ratio less than 40, provides a unique theoretical basis since it is derived from first principles such as force equilibrium and compatibility equations. This paper presents the rational model methodology and compares predicted results and recently published full scale experimental data on the subject. Predictive capabilities of the rational model are shown to be excellent. The methodology is extended for the problem of pipeline collapse under point load, longitudinal bending and external pressure. Due to its rational derivation and excellent prediction capabilities, it is recommended that design codes adopt the rational model methodology.
The seismic failure-prone region in Istanbul has been examined in terms of the segmented pipelines. Although some researchers have suggested that this territory should be left as a green land, many people continue to live in this area. This region is about 9-10 km away from the North Anatolian Fault Line. This fault zone is an active right-lateral strike-slip fault line in Turkey and an earthquake with a magnitude of 7.0-7.5 is expected in the Marmara Sea. Therefore, superstructures and infrastructures are under both land sliding risks and seismic risks in this area. Because there are not any pipeline-fault line intersection points in the region, in this study, it has been focused on the behaviors of the segmented (sewage or stormwater) pipelines subject to earthquake-induced permanent ground deformation and seismic wave propagation. Based on the elastic beam theory some necessary analyses have been carried out and obtained results of this approximation have been examined.
