국산재에 대한 나무못 직경과 천공 여척이 나무못 유지력에 미치는 영향 (The Effect of Diameter and Prehole Clearance for Wooden Dowel on The Withdrawal Loads of Domestic Wood)

  • 나무못은 다양한 구조물의 목재부재들을 연결하는데 일반적으로 사용된다. 하지만 국산재의 나무못 유지력에 대한 자료는 매우 부족하다. 본 연구는 나무못의 직경과 천공여척이 유지력 특성에 미치는 영향에 대해 알아보기 위해 실시했다. 실험 블록은 두께 15 mm인 소나무와 잣나무 목재로 제작했다. 6, 8 및 10 mm 직경인 나무못은 밤나무, 잣나무 및 백합나무 목재로 각각 제작했다. 연구결과 나무못 직경이 증가하면 유지력은 선형으로 증가했지만 유지력 강도는 감소했다. 본 연구는 또한 천공여척이 작아질수록 유지력과 유지력 강도도 선형으로 증가하는 것을 보였다.

솔수염하늘소의 유충침입공과 성충탈출공의 측정과 소나무 내 분포 (Measurement and Within-tree Distribution of Larval Entrance and Adult Emergence Holes of Japanese Pine Sawyer, Monochamus alternatus(Coleoptera: Cerambycidae))

  • 1999년부터 2002년까지 경남 진주의 소나무재선충에 의한 피해임지 내에서 고사목을 대상으로 솔수염하늘소 유충침입공과 성충탈출공 및 번데기방의 크기와 갱도길이 등을 측정하고, 소나무 내 분포를 분석하였다. 소나무 내 솔수염하늘소의 유충 침입공수는 1$m^2$당 수관부가 56.2 개인데 비해 수간부는 27.7개로서 수관부가 훨씬 많았다. 직경이 8-l0 cm인 공시목에 침입공의 27.5%와 우화공의 22.4%가 분포하였고 이보다 굵거나 가는 공시목에는 적었다. 침입공의 형태는 타원형으로 입구의 표면적은 평균 65.8$\textrm{mm}^2$ 이었다. 성충탈출공은 원형으로서 직경은 평균 7.0mm 이었다. 공시목의 표면에서 번데기방까지의 깊이는 평균 24.8 mm이었고 번데기 방의 부피는 200-2,000 ㎣이었다 성충의 탈출공은 수관부가 수간부보다 많았으며, 공시목의 직경이 8-10cm에서 22.4%로 가장 많이 분포하였다. 유충 침입공과 성충 탈출공까지의 목질부 표면에서 직선거리는 평균 3.3 cm이었으며, 침입공에서 탈출공까지의 갱도 길이는 평균 46.2 nm이었다.

  • 솔수염하늘소는 소나무에 시들음 증상을 유발하여 괴사시키는 소나무재선충을 매개하는 대표적 매개충이다. 소나무재선충병 고사목 방제살충처리 방법으로 훈증방법을 대체할 수 있는 그물망을 이용한 방제법이 도입되고 있다. 본 연구는 솔수염하늘소의 쏠기와 탈출 행동을 유발시키는 조건을 구명하기 위하여 구속 공간 및 온도를 달리 처리하고 탈출여부를 조사하였다. 솔수염하늘소는 직경 30 mm 이하의 공간에 구속되었을 때 장애물을 뚫고 탈출이 가능하였다. 온도 $15^{\circ}C$에서는 탈출에 성공하지 못하였으며, $20{\sim}30^{\circ}C$ 범위에서 탈출 성공률이 높았다. 먹이를 이용한 솔수염하늘소의 유인은 탈출 성공률에 영향을 미치지 않았다. 좁은 공간에 구속되지 않는 경우는 갉는 부위가 집중되지 않아 탈출공을 형성하지 못하였다. 구속된 공간에서 솔수염하늘소는 가운데와 뒷다리 부절을 이용해 좁은 공간에서 몸을 이동시키며 큰턱으로 정면에 있는 장애물을 집중적으로 갉아서 탈출공을 만들고 앞다리를 뻗어 몸을 지탱하면서 빠져나오는 행동을 보였다. 본 연구의 결과는 훈증 대체기술로 제시되고 있는 구속 그물망의 성능을 평가하는데 중요한 기초자료로 활용될 수 있을 것이다.

  • In this study the effect of heartwood-coating (HCO), vapor-dam (VD), bark-remaing (BR) and bark-remaining- coating (BRC) treatments were evaluated during air circulating oven-drying of hollowed round-post of Korean red pine. Hollowed round-post could be dried from the green condition to approximately 6% MC within 84 to 156 hours for the UC, HCO and VD specimens and it took 72 to 240 hours to about 8% MC, which is recommended as the indoor in-use MC. The temperatures in the hole of the Control (UC) and HCO specimens constantly showed a higher-leveled distribution pattern than those inside wood. The vapor pressure in the hole of the UC, HCO and BR specimens was higher than that inside wood and showed difference as highest value of about 20 mbar. The surface checks of all specimens were mild and were observed in increasing order of BRC, BR, UC, VD and HCO specimens.

  • Wooden dowels are commonly used to join the particleboard members together in many types of structures, But little information is available concerning their holding properties in domestic particleboard. This study was performed to determine the withdrawal loads and strengths on the effect of diameter of dowel and hole clearance. The test block was manufactured from 15 mm thick domestic particleboard. The dowel was manufactured 6, 8 and 10 mm diameters from korean castanea, korean pine and tuliptree. Research reported here indicates that withdrawal loads increase, but withdrawal strengths decrease, as the dowel diameter increases. This study also indicates that dowel withholding load and strength for particleboard less decrease than those for domestic wood as a hole clearance decreases.

소나무재선충 감염 소나무의 목재해부학적 특성 (Wood Anatomical Characteristics of Domestic Red Pine (Pinus densiflora) Infested by Pine wood Nematode (Bursaphelenchus xylophilus))

  • 소나무재선충병은 우리나라의 대표 수종인 소나무를 괴사시키는 주요 산림병의 하나로 재선충의 침입과 수체내에서의 이동 경로 파악은 이들의 서식 형태를 구명하는데 매우 중요하다. 따라서 본 연구에서는 감염목 내에서의 재선충 주요 서식 부위와 이동 경로를 명확히 구명하기 위해 재선충 피해목에 대한 현미경적 조사를 수행하였다. 그 결과 피해목의 특징으로는 횡단면, 방사단면, 접선단면 모두에서 주로 방사조직이 감염을 통해 진하게 착색된 것으로 드러났으며 수지구에서도 집중적인 피해가 관찰되었다. 또한 형성층과 가까운 변재 부위에서는 연륜을 따라 접선방향으로 연속 배열된 상해수지구로 보이는 특징이 관찰되었다. 재선충은 방사가도관보다는 방사유세포에서 그리고 수평수지구를 지니지 않는 단열방사조직보다는 수평수지구를 지니는 방추형방사조직에서 훨씬 더 많은 재선충이 발견되었으며 방사조직에서 가도관으로 이동하는 선충도 관찰되었다. 방사조직에서 가도관으로의 이동 시 가도관의 벽을 천공한 다음 이동하거나 크기가 작은 개구부인 측벽의 유연벽공을 통해 이동하기보다는 크기가 큰 개구부인 창상 직교분야벽공을 이동 통로로 삼는 것으로 사료되었다.

Evaluation of Bearing Strength of Self-Tapping Screws according to the Grain Direction of Domestic Pinus densiflora

  • To evaluate the bearing strength of red pine cross-laminated timber (CLT) with self-tapping screw (STS), which is widely used as a fastener for connection in CLT building, the bearing test was conducted. Accoring to the STS's diameters (8, 10, 12 mm), the bearing test specimens with half hole were manufactured. Bearing strength was compared and reviewed in consideration of the configuration in STS and the loading direction to the grain of red pine. As a result of the bearing test on the STS's diameter, the yield bearing load increases as the larger diameter of the STS in all directions of the red pine. The bearing strength of the thread part (thread + tip) was higher than the shank part (shank + shank cutter). In compared with the directions to the grain of red pine, the bearing strength of the cross section parallel to the loading direction was the highest, and the tangent section was the lowest bearing strength. The average bearing strength of the loading direction in parallel to the grain was 23.43 MPa, which was about 45% higher than the average 16.16 MPa in perpendicular to the grain. The predicted bearing strength calculated by Eurocode (EN) and Korean Building Code (KBC)'s equation was lower than the experimental value. It is nessesary to propose the new equations of bearing strength reflected the configuration information of STS.

  • The purpose of this study was to describe the micromorphological changes in Korean red pine (Pinus densiflora S. et Z.) wood decayed by a major brown-rot fungus, Lentinus lepideus, using scanning electron microscope and transmission electron microscope. At the end of the 12-week exposure to the fungus in soil block procedure(ASTM 1971), test blocks sustained 5.02% weight loss. The formation of bore hole by hyphae and penetration of hyphae through bordered pit were not observed. Instead, fungal hyphae appeared to penetrate axially tracheid luminar from the the ray cells via cross field pits. Hyphae were mainly found in lignin rich cell corner regions of tracheids, and also extensive degradation of tracheid wall occurred in this region. Extensive degradation of $S_2$ layer occurred without noticeable alteration of the $S_3$ layer, but warty layer and compound middle lamella remained relatively intact. Localized erosion, the characteristic of white rot, was observed in some cell wall and wall components including lignin were found to be decomposed.

단기간(短期間)의 파라퀄처리(處理)가 리기다소나무의 수지증수(樹脂增收)에 미치는 영향(影響) (Effects of Short-Term Paraquat Treatment on Oleoresin Increases in Pitch Pine)

  • The purpose of this study was to evaluate the effect of short-term paraquat treatment without insecticides on the enhancement in oleoresin of pitch pine (Pinus rigida M.) at various distances from the wound height. The trees were treated with 0.5, 2 and 4% paraquat solutions using the bore-hole technique. Duplicate cores from treated and untreated sides of treated trees were made at 5 height levels (-0.3, 0.0, 0.3, 0.9 and 1.5 m above the wound height) at 3 months after treatment. The alcohol-benzene extractives based on unextracted oven-dry cores were taken as oleoresin contents. The results were as follows: 1. The effect of oleoresin enhancement at wound height were not affected by paraquat concentration. 2. Ascending distance of the enhancing effects above the wound height was directly related to paraquat concentration. Only in 4% paraquat treated trees, the effect extended to 1.5 m above the wound height. 3. As a result of examining descending distance of the enhancing effects at 0.3 m below the wound height, the effects extended to there in 4% and 2% paraquat treated trees.

대단면 스킨팀버의 용재 가능성과 이를 활용한 생활용품 디자인 개발 (Manufacturing Life articles and a Possibility of Materials Using the Structural Size Skin-Timber)

  • Timber is an eco-friendly material that is suitable for low carbon and green growth, and recently, studies on utilization and manufacture of timber are increasing. Thus, we need a stable supply of wood working materials for the formative element and widespread function of timber. It is necessary to develop the use of timber because it enhances the added value of this material by making the most of it. In this way, skin-timber is an appropriate material for life articles because skin-timber has a variety of functions including the ability for storage use, the beauty of structure, the ability to maintain heat and insulation, and the capability to control humidity. In this study, I developed household items using skin-timbers that are made up of circular columns and square columns of pine, larch, and yellow popular. The circular and square columns have an inner hole that is approximately 90% of the external structure's width. I intended for the concept of these designs to display creativity considering functionality and productivity. These items are life articles and furniture for modern people. They are eco-friendly products that are varnished with traditional lacquer and natural oil. According to the result of this study, skin-timbers are made of domestic pine, larch, and yellow popular and are resource of furniture, household items, and woodcraft. I believe skin-timber is not only a useful material for processability and design applicability, but it also has the capability to be a multifunctional and high value-added material. Also, if the standards, such as cortex thickness, outside diameter, and length, of skin-timber are producted diversely, I believe skin-timber can be have more the possibility of industrial products' development.
