  • A speaker is a system which produces sound through electromechanical operations. It transforms electronic signals into audible sound signals. Almost all speakers are three dimensional. These days, many mobile electronic devices such as mobile electronic devices have become smaller and thinner. A problem with this miniaturization, however, is that the volume of speakers has also decreased. In contrast to conventional three dimensional speakers, we have invented a new type of two dimensional flexible speaker by utilizing the reverse piezoelectric effect.

  • With recent advanced in portable electric devices, wireless sensor, MEMS and bio-Mechanics device, the new typed power supply, not conventional battery but self-powered energy source is needed. Particularly, the system that harvests from their environments are interests for use in self powered devices. For very low powered devices, environmental energy may be enough to use power source. Therefore, in other to made piezoelectric energy harvesting device, PMN-PZT thick film was formed by the screen printing method on the Ag/Pd coated alumina substrate. The layer was 8 layers and slurry where a-terpineol, ethycellulose, ferro B-75001 as Vehicle, PMN-PZT powder used are fabricated by ball mill. The output power quality was be also investigated by changing the load resistance, weight and frequency. The made piezoelectric energy harvesting device was resulted from the conditions of 33$k{\Omega}$, 0.25g, 197Hz respectively. The thick film was prepared at the condition of 2.75Vrms, and its power was 230${\mu} W$ and its thickness was 56${mu}m$. The piezoelectric energy harvesting device output voltage was increased, when the load weight, load resistance was increasing and resonance frequency was diminishing. The other side, resonance frequency was diminished, when the weight was increasing. And output power was continuously it changed by load resistance, output voltage, weight and resonance frequency.

  • In this study, thickness shear mode piezoelectric devices for AE sensor with excellent displacement and sensitivity characteristics were simulated using ATILA FEM program, and then fabricated. Displacement and electro mechanical coupling factors of the piezoelectric devices were investigated. The simulation results showed that excellent displacement and electromechanical coupling factor was obtained when the ratio of Length/Thickness was 1. The piezoelectric device of L/T= 1 exhibited the optimum values of fr= 150 kHz, displacement= $6.23{\times}10^{-8}$[m], $k_{15}$= 0.598. The results show that the thickness shear mode piezoelectric device is a promising candidate for the application of AE sensor piezoelectric device.

  • Ultrasonic sensor is suitable as a next-generation autonomous driving assist device because its lower price compared to that of other sensors and its sensing stability in the external environment. Although Pb(Zr, Ti)O3 (PZT)-relaxor ferroelectric system has excellent piezoelectric properties, the change in capacitance is large in the daily operating temperature range due to the low phase transition temperature. Recently, many studies have been conducted to improve the temperature stability of ferroelectric ceramics by controlling the grain size and crystal structure, so it is necessary to study the effect of the grain size on the piezoelectric properties and the temperature stability of PZT-relaxor ferroelectric system. In this study, the piezoelectric properties, phase transition temperature, and temperature coefficient of capacitance (TCC) of 0.9 Pb(Zr1-xTix)O3-0.1 Pb(Zn1/3Nb2/3)O3 (PZTx-PZN) ceramics with various grain sizes were investigated. PZTx-PZN ceramics with larger grain size showed higher piezoelectric properties and temperature stability, and are expected to be suitable for ultrasonic devices in the future.

  • As a candidate for lead-free piezoelectric materials, dense $95(Na_{0.5}K_{0.5})NbO_3-5LiTaO_3$ (NKN-5LT) ceramics were developed by conventional sintering process. Sintering temperature was lowered by adding $Li_2O$ as a sintering aid. The electrical properties of NKN-5LT ceramics were investigated as a function of $Li_2O$ concentration. At the addition of 1 mol% $Li_2O$, electromechanical coupling factor $(k_P)$ and piezoelectric coefficient $(d_{33})$ of NKN-5LT ceramics were found to reach the highest values of 0.37 and 250 pC/N, respectively.

  • Piezoelectric materials can directly convert mechanical energy to electrical one, and vice versa. Research on piezoelectric materials and devices has a long history, and now many relevant products are available in a wide range of applications such as medical, military, industrial, home appliance, and mobile electronics. One of the major research trends now is not only to further improve the physical properties of the piezoelectric materials, but also to reduce the size of the piezoelectric devices. This review focuses on the development of piezoelectric thin films that can enhance the performance of microtransducers.

  • Currently, piezoelectric ceramics are being applied in various fields, such as ultrasonic sensors, vibration devices, sound filters, and various energy conversion devices. Flexible piezoelectric ceramics are widely studied in an effort to mitigate the disadvantages of their brittle and inductile properties. Structural damage to piezoelectric fibers is much less than that to thin films when piezoelectric fibers are twisted or bent. Therefore, stretchable devices can be fabricated if piezoelectric fibers are obtained using an elongated substrate. In this study, sintering processes of PZT ($Pb(Zr_{0.53}Ti_{0.47})O_3$) fibers prepared by electrospinning were optimized through the TGA and XRD analyses. The crystal structure and microstructure of the piezoelectric fibers were investigated by XRD, FE-SEM and TEM.

  • Wearable electronic devices with batteries must be lightweight, flexible and highly durable. Most importantly, the battery should be able to self-generate to operate the devices without having to be too frequently charged externally. An eco-friendly energy harvesting technology from various sources, such as solar energy, electromagnetic energy and wind energy, has been developed for a self-charging flexible battery. Although the energy harvesting from such sources are often unstable according to the surrounding environment, the energy harvesting from body movements and vibrations has been less affected by the surrounding environment. In this regard, flexible piezoelectric modules are the most attractive solution for this issue, because they convert mechanical energy to electrical energy and harvest energy from the human body motions. Among the various flexible piezoelectric modules, piezoelectric nanofibers have advantages when used as an energy harvester in wearable devices, due to their simple manufacturing process with good applicability to polymers and ceramics. This review focused on diverse flexible piezoelectric nanofibers and discusses their applications as various energy harvesting systems.

  • This paper presents a method to minimize the initial deflection of a multi-layer piezoelectric microactuator without loosing its piezoelectric deflection performance required for light modulating micromirror devices. The multi-layer piezoelectric actuator composed of PZT silicon nitride and platinum layers deflects or buckles due to the gradient of residual stress. Based on the structural analysis results and relationship between process conditions and mechanical properties we have modified the fabrication process and the thickness of thin film layers to reduce the initial residual stress deflection without decreasing its piezoelectric deflection performance. The modified designs fabricated by surface-micromachining process achieved the 77% reduction of the initial deflection compared with that of the conventional method based on the measured micromechanical material properties is applicable to the design refinement of multi-layer MEMS devices and micromechanical structures.

  • Piezoelectric materials have been investigated as vibration energy converters to power wireless devices or MEMS devices due to the recent low power requirements of such devices and the advancement in miniaturization technology. Piezoelectric power generation can be an alternative to the traditional power source-battery because of the presence of facile vibration sources in our environment and the potential elimination of the maintenance required for large volume batteries. This paper represents the new power source which supplies energy device node. This system, called "energy harvesting system", with piezo materials scavenges extra energy such as vibration and acceleration from the environment. Then it converts the mechanical energy scavenged to electrical energy for powering device This paper explains the properties of piezo material through theoretical analysis and experiments The developed system provides a solution to overcome the critical problem of making up wireless device networks.
