  • A nonlinear ultrasonic parameter is defined by the ratio of displacement amplitude of the fundamental frequency component to that of the second-order harmonic frequency component. In this study, the ultrasonic displacement amplitude of an SUS316 specimen was measured via a piezo-electric-based method to identify the validity of piezo-electric detection method. For comparison, the ultrasonic displacement was also determined via a laser-based Fabry-Pérot interferometer. The experimental results for both measurements were in good agreement. Additionally, the stability of the repeated test results from the piezo-electric method exceeded that of the laser-interferometric method. This result indicated that the piezo-electric detection method can be utilized to measure a nonlinear ultrasonic parameter due to its excellent stability although it involves a complicated process.

  • Cable systems are a construction of elements carrying only tension and no compression or bending in membrane structure. Tensile membrane structures are most often used as roofs as they can economically and attractively span large distances. But cable systems have weaknesses to vibration by earthquake, wind and vehicle loads. Damage detection of cable systems by using existing safety diagnosis is difficult to detect the characteristic change of overall structural action. If cable snaps are occurred to cable release and tear in tension structures, these are set up a vibration. So, we used piezo-electric materials, and The principle of operation of a piezoelectric sensor is that a physical dimension, transformed into a force, acts on two opposing faces of the sensing element. In this study, the development on test method of cable system is proposed and tested by tensile strength using piezo-electric materials.

  • It is well known that a discharge in oil is the source of various physical and chemical phenomena. One of them is ultra-sonic wave, and its detection is a useful method to the diagnosis of the transformer insulation condition. Conventionally, ultra-sonic waves are detected by Piezo-electric trans-ducer(PZT), and we use optical method that has many advantages. In this paper, we constructed a Mach-Zehnder interferometer with optical fiber and investigated the principle of operation. Test of the ultrasonic-detecting ability was performed for both of PZT and fiber-optic sensor. Discharge test arrangement is based on the needle-plane electrode system in oil and applied AC high voltage. Ultrasonic waves were detected and showed time-delay characteristics. We analyzed the data with frequency domain and wavelet transform.

  • Presently means of utilizing sensors such as Piezoelectric(PZT) Element for evaluating the affect of oscillator, strain gauge for analyzing physical changes and use of Fiber Bragg Grating(FBG) Sensor are widely practiced in the field. In this study, PZT and FBG sensors were used to tearing damage of cable systems in these sensors. Cable systems are a construction of elements carrying only tension and no compression or bending in membrane structure. But damage detection of cable systems by using existing safety diagnosis is difficult to detect the characteristic change of overall structural action. If cable snaps are occurred to cable release and tear in tension structures, these are set up a vibration. So, we used piezo-electric materials and result of experiment using this was compared with result of experiment using FBG sensors The purpose of this research is to develop of damage detection method of cable system in tensile stress.

  • This paper described the establishment of the basic data for the design of the transducer for the detection of plethysmogram, the structure of pulsimeter utilizing the designed transducer and the clinical usefulness of detected waveform of the optical detection method can be utilized as an information of cardiovascular system as physiological theoretical waveform of aorta, and derivative of plethysmogram by piezo electric elements clearly shows the information of incisura which does not appear at the old age and this makes the measuring of ejection time to be easy. The ejection time of average for 42 persons shows 0.324 $\pm$ 0.027 sec. and this value is in good agreement with the theoretical value, and the possibility of measuring the velocity of pulse conduction has been studied.

  • It is well known that a partial-discharge(PD) in insulation oil is the source of various physical and chemical phenomena, such as heat, light, gas, chemical transformation, electric current, electromagnetic radiation and ultrasonics. The PD can be detected by measuring one of these changes. Although some techniques are employed in this purpose, several obstacles interfere with an on-line measurement. Ultrasonic-wave detection is a useful method for the diagnosis of the transformer-insulation condition. Conventionally, ulyrasonic waves are detected by Piezo-electric transducer, but we use optical method that has many advantages. • This paper describes about non-burial AVI (Automatic Vehicle Identification) system using general vehicle as probe car for obtaining more accurate traffic information while conserving road pavement surface. Existing spot traffic detectors have their own limits of not obtaining right information owing to its mathematical method. Burial AVI systems have some defects, causing traffic jam, needing much maintenance cost because of frequent cutting of loop and piezo-electric sensors. Especially, they have hard time to make right detection, when it comes to jamming time. Therefore, in this paper, we propose non-burial AVI system with laser trigger unit. Proposed non-burial AVI system is developed to obtain regional traffic information from normal Passing vehicle by automatic license number recognition technology. We have adapted it to national highway section between Suwon city and Pyong$\~$Taek city(9.5km) and get affirmative results. Vehicle detection rate of laser trigger unit is more than 95$\%$, vehicle recognition rate is 87.8$\%$ and vehicle matching rate is about 14.3$\%$. So we regard these as satisfying results to use the system for traffic information service. We evaluate proposed AVI system by regulation of some institutions which are using similar AVI system and the proposed system satisfies all conditions. For future study, we have plan of detailed research about proper lane number from all of the target lanes, optimal section length, information service period, and data fusion method for existing spot detector.
