  • For machining systems like the motor driven linear stage which have high precision positioning with a long stroke, it is necessary to examine the repeatability of the reference position decision. Though piezo (PZT) actuator driven linear stages have high precision feed drivers and a short stroke, they have some limitations for reference position decisions if they have not been equipped with an accurate home sensor. This study was performed to examine the repeatability for home position decision of a EE-SX671 photo sensor as a home switch by using piezo actuator driven linear stages and capacitance probe.

  • Systematic quality control based on real time data is required for modern factories. This study introduced a method of predicting punch wear in the trimming process of automobile parts. Based on monitoring data of the mass production process using a bolt-type piezo sensor, it was shown that precursor symptoms of die wear could be predicted from the change in load pattern with respect to production volume. The load pattern that changed according to the wear of the die was verified by numerical analysis.

  • Estimation methods of motion intention from bio-signal present challenges in man machine interaction(MMI) to offer user's command to machine without control of any devices. Measurements of meaningful bio-signals that contain the motion intention and motion estimation methods from bio-signal are important issues for accurate and safe interaction. This paper proposes a novel motion estimation sensor based on a geometrical muscle changes, and a motion estimation method using the sensor. For estimation of the motion, we measure the circumference change of the muscle which is proportional to muscle activation level using a flexible piezoelectric cable (pMAS, piezo muscle activation sensor), designed in band type. The pMAS measures variations of the cable band that originate from circumference changes of muscle bundles. Moreover, we estimate the elbow motion by applying the sensor to upper limb with least square method. The proposed sensor and prediction method are simple to use so that they can be used to motion prediction device and methods in rehabilitation and sports fields.

  • According to survey, more than 57.2% of the fall which is the most frequent safety accident of the elders takes place at home. This research aims to verify the fall by measuring and analyzing the floor vibration. And the vibration sensor module was designed with piezo film sensor and operation amplifier. The vibration signals are converted to digital signals through the data acquisition device and vibration sensor module. And then modified the signals into frequency domain to obtain characteristic vibration data. The characteristic signals are verified by K-Nearest Neighbor verification, and experimental results shows the recognition rate 93.6%. Also the fall detection sensor module is useful for extract the meaningful data for fall detection. 10 persons are participated for this experiment.

  • In this paper, a wind speed & direction module and the DSP(Digital Signal Processor) sensor interface circuit board are proposed. This DSP system accepts and process the informations from a wind speed & direction module, the atmospheric pressure sensor, the ambient air temperature sensor and transfers it to the PC monitering system. Especially, a wind speed & direction module and a DSP hardware are directly designed and applied. A wind speed & direction module have a construction that it have four film type RTD(Resistive Temperature Detectors) or film type Piezo sensors adhered around the circular metal body for obtaining vector informations about wind. By this structure, the module is enabled precise measurement having a robustness about vibration, humidity, corrosion. A sensor signal processing circuit is using TMS320F2812 TI(Texas Instrument) Corporation high speed DSP.

  • This paper presents the active control of a flexible cantilever beam vibration. The cantilever beam was excitied by a steady-state harmonic and white noise point force and the control was performed by one piezo ceramic actuator bonded to the surface of the beam. An adaptive controller based on filtered-x LMS algorithm was used and the controller was defined by minimizing the square of the response of error sensor. In the experiment, gap sensor was used as an error sensor while the sinusoidal or white noise was applied as a disturbance. In the case of sinusoidal input, more than 20 dB of vibration reduction was achieved over all range of the natural frequencies and it takes 5 seconds to control the vibration at first natural frequency and 1 second at other natural frequencies. In the case of white noise input, 7 dB of vibration reduction was achieved at the first natural frequency and good control performance was achieved in the considered whole frequency range. Results indicate that the vibration of a flexible cantilever beam could be controlled effectively when the piezo ceramic actuator was used with filtered-x LMS algorithm.

  • In this paper discuss with research developing an LSTM model for classifying the behavior of occupants within a residence. The multi-sensor consists of an IAQ (Indoor Air Quality) sensor that measures indoor air quality, a UWB radar that tracks occupancy detection and location, and a Piezo sensor to measure occupants' biometric information, and collects occupant behavior data such as going out, staying, cooking, cleaning, exercise, and sleep by constructed an experimental environment similar to the actual residential environment. After the data with removed outliers and missing, the LSTM model is used to calculate accuracy, sensitivity, specificity of the occupant behavior classification model, T1 score.

  • In this paper, a design of Signal Processing Analog Front-End IC for Automotive Piezo-Resistive Type Pressure Sensor is presented. In modern society, as the car turns to go from mechanical to electronic technology, the accuracy and reliability of electronic parts required importantly. In order to improve these points, Programmable Gain Amplifier (PGA) amplifies the received signal in accordance with gain for increasing the accuracy after PRT Sensor is operated to change physical pressure signals to electrical signals. The signal amplified from PGA is processed by Digital blocks like ADC, CMC and DAC. After going through this process, it is possible to determine the electrical signal to physical pressure signal. As processing analog signal to digital signal, reliability and accuracy in Analog Front-End IC is increased. The current consumption of IC is 5.32mA. The die area of the fabricated IC is $1.94mm{\times}1.94mm$.

  • The crimping connection is a permanent connection that maintains mechanical and electrical property for a long time by crimping two conductors. In this paper, we have done a basic study to decide normal or abnormal condition depending on crimping. Using PZT piezo-sensor, we have analyzed crimping waveforms according to the crimping height. And hence the normal or abnormal condition of crimping connections in real time could be decided by comparison of crimping waveforms in the cases of normal crimping, over crimping, under crimping and core omitting.
