The International Affective Picture System (IAPS) developed by Lang and colleagues[1] is a world-widely adopted tool in studices relating a variety of physiological indices to subjective emotions induced by the presentation of standardized pictures of which subjective ratings are well established in the three dimensions of pleasure, arousal and dominance. In the present stuey we investigated whether distinctive EEG characteristics for six discrete emotions can be discernible using 12 IAPS pictures that scored highest subjective ratings for one of the 6 categorical emotions, i. e., happiness, sadness, fear, anger, disgust, and surprise (Two slides for each emotion). These pictures as visual stimuli were randomly given to 38 right-handed college students (20-26 years old) with 30 sec of exposure time and 30sec of inter-stimulus interval for each picture while EEG signals were recorded from F3, F4, O1, and O2 referenced to linked ears. The FFT technoque were used to analyze the acquired EEG data. There were significant differences in RP value changes of EEG bands, most prominent in theta, between positive positive and negative emotions, and partial also among negative emotions. This result is in agreement with previous studies[2, 3]. However, it requires further studied to decided whether IAPS could be a useful tool for catigorical approaches to emotion in addition to its traditional uwe, namely dimensional to emotion.

In this paper, we present change of human sensiblity when the 26 healthy female subjects were exposed with visual picture stimulus. We used Intermational Affective Picture System as the visual stimulus. The methods are AutoRegressive(AR) spectrum which is a linear method and Return Map which is a nonlinear mithod. SR spectrum may variability(HRV). The LF/HF of HRV and the variation of Return Map were analyzed from ECG signal of the female subjects. Return Map of RR intervals were analyzed by computiong the variation. When the subjets were stimulated by the pleasant pictures, LF/HF and variation were decreased compared with unpleasant stimulus, We may obtain good parameters for the measurement of the change of human sensibility for the visual picture stimulus.

In this study we investigated whether the IAPS can be used for Koreans without significant cultural biases in their subjective emotional reactions. Thirty IAPS picture slides were presented to a group of 52 college students and different 30 slides with similar 3 dimensional emotion ratings to another group of 42 students. Fof each slieds with exposal time of 8sec, subjects were asked to rate on the Semantic Differential Scale (SDS) and Self-Assessment Manikin (SAM) in the 3 dimensions of pleasure valence, arousal, and domensions of pleasure valence, arousal, and dominance. Fnctor analysis was done for SDS ratings, and correlations of SDS and SAM were calculated. Eighteen bipolar adjective were grouped into 3 dimensions of pleasure, arousal, dominance showing good agreement with previous study. SAM were calculated. Eighteen bipolar adjectives were grouped into 3 dimensions of pleasure, arousal, dominance showing good agreement with the previous study. SAM ratings were highly corrlated with two of the 6 SDS adjective pairs associated with the pleasure and dominance dimensions, but not with those associated with arousal dimension suggerting some cultural differences.

We present several biosignal measurement results and analysis algorithms for the visual stimulus from International Affective Picture Sytem. Sine human body is nonlinear dynamic system, we investigated both linear and nonlinear methods. We found that the alpha wave of EEG, the chaos of peripheral blood pressure, the LF/HF of HRV and thd retutn map of RR interval were good parameters for the measuremet of human sensibility. These can be used as the parameters for the measurement of human sensibility.

The article reports findings on: (1) development of emotion assessment scale in evaluating the Television(TV) picture quality; and (2) how psychological and physical factors relate to TV picture quality. A total of 152 adjectives that specifically describe emotional reactions were first selected from a Korean dictionary of adjectives, followed by ratings on their suitability for the evaluation of TV picture quality. The final selection of 19 adjective, based on the reported rating scores greater than 4.1, were used on 126 college students who were asked to perform similarity ratings on the adjectives. Based on factor analyses (i.e., principal component analysis with oblique rotation) on the similarity of scores, the following adjectives were selectively chosen for the development of the new emotion assessment scale: 'neat-messy', 'refreshing-gloomy', 'clean-dirty', 'comfortable-tense', 'smooth-rough', 'bright-dark', 'gorgeous-plain', 'diverse-monotonous', 'satisfying', 'natural', and 'sensuous'. These adjectives composed into two distinct constructs, 'cleanness or smart' factor and 'gorgeousness' factor, which demonstrated sensitivity to changes in brightness, contrast, color, and tint in the TV picture quality, except for changes in sharpness.

Children's Picture Book is the literature with which children face for the first time as a form of close harmony between text and picture. The picture book shows what is happening and also what may happen mn the children's surroundings and takes great Influence on their creativity, thinking ability, emotion, and Intellectual ability by delivering affluent story through the pictures. The color expressed in the children's picture book is as much important as other formative elements such as shape and texture, and the expression of color on the basis of color emotion is much more Important In that It appeals to the children's feeling. The color which is expressed through the illustration of children's picture book conveys distinctly the motion and feeling of characters who are expressed un the picture book as well as distinction of theme and background and expresses persuasively the whole process of plot and atmosphere so that it might convey various emotions such as delight, sorrow, pleasure, wonder, and fear to children. This thesis alms at analyzing various effects of color contrast, process of color, hue variation, and use of color according to the atmosphere of each cut and the process of plot by selecting the children's picture books which were published abroad and home on the basis of color concept, emotion, and image association which children feel In order to Investigate and analyze the symbolism of color and emotional effect expressed through the illustration of children's picture book, and presenting a direction of color use to produce high-level children's picture book with illustrators individuality and artistry.

본 연구는 International Affective Picture System (IAPS) 사진의 시각 자극을 통해 유발된 감성 변화를 심리ㆍ생리적으로 측정하여 긴장도의 감성 변화를 수행하고자 하였다. 미리 선정된 9개의 사진을 30초씩 제시하면서 ECG, GSR, Skin Temperature, Respiration 등의 생리 신호를 측정하였고, 자극 제시 후 주관적 평가를 실시하였다. 주관적 평가 분석 결과 9개의 사진 중 5종류의 사진에 대한 감성 구분의 가능성이 보였으며, 긴장축으로 긴장 > 불쾌긴장, 쾌긴장 > 중립 > 이완 순서의 4단계로 긴장도가 구분되었다. 자율신경계 반응 또한 긴장영역의 감성을 구분할 수 있었는데, 긴장축으로 긴장, 불쾌긴장, 쾌긴장 > 중립 > 이완 순서의 3단계로 긴장도가 구분되었다. 따라서 각 사진이 유발한 긴장의 감성영역을 주관적 평가를 바탕으로 생리적 반응 분석을 통하여 변별할 수 있을 것으로 판단된다.

This research is to find out what kinds of function imaginary companions do to the characters in a picture book featuring imaginary companions. To this end, a total of 26 picture books featuring imaginary companions published in Korea were analyzed using content analysis to assess the function of imaginary companions in the relationship between the main character and imaginary companions. As a result of the study, the imaginary companions were found to play the function of playmates (77%), care givers and/or advisers (42%), companions (42%), other egos (38%), those who get wish realized (23%), those who sharing emotion (23%), and emotion controllers (19%). In the picture book, the imaginary companion was performing various functions according to the situation and needs of the characters. Mostly two to three (2~3) kinds of functions were performed in the each analyzed picture book, and as a result of analyzing trends out of 26 picture books, it showed that there are three types of trends in relationship, which was horizontal, vertical and other egos. The imginary companions depicted in the picture books were not only being who helps realize whishes, take care of main characters, and control their emotions, but also appeared to share hearts, project other ego and be a good friend with an equal level of relationship that plays together always.

This study examined the influence of mothers' reading and scaffolding behaviors on children's emotional experiences and memory recall during picture book reading. Sixty children, aged 6 and their mothers participated in this study. Each child-mother dyad was observed in a lab setting which was designed to evaluate child-mother interactions during a picture book reading. The data were analyzed using correlation and multiple regression techniques. Our results indicated that mothers' task-oriented reading behavior affected the children's lack of positive emotions, whereas mothers' fun-oriented reading behavior was associated with the children's positive emotions. The task-oriented reading behavior also accounted for children's poor memory performance in relation to the book. These results were discussed in terms of the relationship between emotion and cognition through book reading experiences.

The illustrations of picture book for children transmit not only one image but also the summary and contents of the picture book by connecting images harmoniously. The images of picture book give children a variety of emotion and impression depending upon the location of image at various factors such as blank and form, texture and colors, and space feeling, etc. Therefore, the picture book for children has the continuity transmitting the flow of images by not only the contents of natural story but also uniform and rhythmical factors. The continuity of images can transmit images by visual ideas that are produced depending upon the connections of pictures between writings and picture, between images, and inside images. In such a way, children can understand the contents of story. The paper examines the continuity of the images of the picture book for children and describes correct expressions on harmonious connections of the images made based on children's individuality and ingenuity.
