생활체육에 참여하는 노인의 삶의 만족도의 영향요인 (Effect of Participation in Life Sports on Life Satisfaction of the Elderly)

  • Purpose: This study examined the effects of physical fitness and aging anxiety on life satisfaction among the elderly. Methods: The participants were 119 elderly. Data collection was conducted from July 1 to 10, 2018. Data were analyzed using descriptive statistics, t-tests, ANOVA, Pearson's correlation coefficients, and multiple linear regression analysis with SPSS software. Results: The mean life satisfaction score was 4.10. Life satisfaction differed significantly according to several general characteristics: education level (p=.014), income (p<.001), living with partner (p=.041), perceived health status (p<.001), and number of chronic diseases (p<.001). Statistically significant positive relationships were observed between life satisfaction with muscle strength (r=.20) and, flexibility (r=.21), and a negative relationship was observed with aging anxiety (r=-.66). A total of 60.0% of life satisfaction was explained by income, perceived health status, muscle strength, flexibility, and aging anxiety. Conclusion: These results can be used to develop life sports programs to improve physical, social, and emotional health promotion with consideration for support to alleviate economic burden. Effect of life sports are evident as a way for healthy and energetic elderly. It should not be a simple exercise program but an integrated plan for improving physical, mental, and social health of the elderly.

  • Purpose: The purpose of the study was to identify factors influencing physical activity among community-dwelling older adults with type 2 diabetes. The study design was based on the Theory of Triadic Influence. Methods: A total of 242 older adults with type 2 diabetes participated in this study. Six variables related to physical activity in older adults, including self-efficacy, social normative belief, attitudes, intention, experience, and level of physical activity, were measured using reliable instruments. Data were analyzed using descriptive statistics, Pearson's correlation analyses, and a path analysis. Results: The mean physical activity score was 104.2, range from zero to 381.21. The path analysis showed that self-efficacy had the greatest total effect on physical activity. Also, experience had direct and total effects on physical activity as well as mediated the paths of social normative beliefs to attitudes and intention to physical activity. These factors accounted for 10% of the total variance, and the fit indices of the model satisfied the criteria of fitness. Conclusion: The findings of the study reveal the important role of self-efficacy and past experience in physical activity in older adults with type 2 diabetes.

여자고등학생의 학교체육복 착용실태 조사 (A Survey on the Physical Training School Uniform of Female High School Students)

  • School uniform has improved greatly in terms of fit, size, function, and design due to steep competition in the market and the strong interest of researcher, while little effort has been made for physical training uniform, so the objective of this study is to provide basic research data of the training uniform for the improvement of its design and fitness. For this purpose, 327 high school girls provided information on size and design of their uniform, level of satisfaction, the recognized ease in uniform. Most students wore the physical training uniform in another classes and the long sleeved shirt were the most popular one. They often used the uniform for the protection from cold and for comfortable activeness. For a long sleeved shirt, most students preferred raglan sleeve, zip-up collar, straight waist line, and ribbed sleeve cuffs and hem. For long pants, students preferred elastic waist band and ribbed pants cuffs. Currently, the short-sleeved shirt mostly had a shirts collar, ribbed hem, straight waist line with raglan sleeve, but students wanted a round neck and set-in sleeve. For overall level of satisfaction, students showed high satisfaction in terms of function and psychological effect, while aesthetic quality of the uniform was needed to be much improved. Most students evaluated that the circumference of uniforms properly fit or had a little ease, and students considered waist size the most suitable. The long pants length evaluated properly fit or a little long. Students accepted that the ease of summer uniform was more suitable than winter uniform's both at circumference and at length. Depending on students' height distribution, the length of long pants and short pants varied significantly.

성공적 노화를 위한 양손 운동 듀오콕 프로그램의 적용 및 효과성 검정: 양측 운동 (Application and Effectiveness of the Two-Handed Exercise Duocock Program for Successful Aging: Bilateral Exercise)

  • Objective: This study was conducted with the aim of verifying the effectiveness of the duocock exercise, which is being utilized at the newly developed site to promote balance maintenance, basic physical strength and muscle strength among various age groups, in order to prevent fall and successfully age. Method: In this study, we conducted the duocock Exercise Program for 12 weeks (twice a week for an hour) for 10 senior citizens aged 65 or older (68.8±4.76 yrs, height: 15±6.00 cm) using Western-based health institutions in Daejeon, and compared the pre- and post- effects on basic physical strength and posture balance. All the data obtained from this study were used in statistical program SPSS 24 to perform paired t-test. The significance level for all statistical analyses was set at the level of p<0.05. Results: The 12 week duocock program showed statistically significant improvements in lower extremity muscle strength, equilibrium, agility, balance, and coordination in the basic fitness factors underlying successful aging (p<0.05). In addition, the trunk imbalance, which acts as a factor of falls and body balance, was statistically significant (p<0.05) and the posture balance of the sagittal plane also showed the effect of proper body adjustment. Conclusion: Based on the results of this study, duocock provides a new exercise program in the form of a sustainable sport as a two-handed exercise, and is very effective for the elderly to improve their basic physical strength as well as to control postural imbalances, strengthen and increase muscle strength.

경기도 농촌형 초등학교 어린이 대상 건강교육 프로그램의 효과 평가 (Effects of a Health Education Program for Elementary School Children in Gyeonggi-do Rural Area)

  • The purpose of this study was to implement and evaluate the health education program for elementary school children. The program consisted of nutritional education and physical exercise. The subjects composed of 89 school children, first through sixth grade (n = 100), who had completed ten weeks of health education program from April through July 2010. Pre-post intervention design was used to evaluate the program effectiveness. After completing health education program, the number of overweight subjects decreased (boys 13 to 11 and girls 11 to 9) and the number of obese subjects decreased from 5 to 4 for boys and 4 to 2 for girls The number of sit-ups significantly increased in both 1-2 grade girls and 3-4 grade girls. Backward trunk extension of 1-2 grade girls also significantly increased (p < 0.05). The level of serum total cholesterol decreased from 171.8 mg/dL to 153.5 mg/dL (p < 0.001). Hypercholesterolemia (above 239 mg/dL), hyperLDLcholesterolemia (above 175 mg/dL) and low level hemoglobin subjects changed to normal levels. Total score of nutrition knowledge increased from 5.9 to 6.1 (p < 0.05), percentage of perception answers increased significantly in 5 out of 10 items and percentage of correct answers increased significantly in 6 out of 10 items (p < 0.05). Three food habits improved, including, "having breakfast", "having diverse foods" and "having vegetables per meal" (p < 0.05). Two self-efficacy items improved significantly, including, "having meals slowly", "having exercise instead of watching TV or computer" (p < 0.05). These results suggest that health education program for elementary school children including nutritional education and physical exercise may be effective to improve their anthropometric characteristics, physical fitness, hyperlipidemia, nutrition knowledge, food habits and self-efficacy.

일부 농촌 지역 노인의 허약수준, 우울, 건강 관련 삶의 질 (Quality of Life, Frailty and Depression in Elderly in Rural Area)

  • Purpose: The purpose of this study is to identify health-related factors, especially for the elderly who are subject to visiting health care at vulnerable populations. Methods: Tools were Guide to Community Integrated Health Promotion Project 2016, Visit Health Care Health Interview Survey, measures of physical function, motor skills, composite mobility, BMI, and subjective fitness levels. Depression was measured with the Short Results: Older elders living alone were more vulnerable than those with living others. Elders with less education showed greater weakness but the difference was not significant. Average scores for frailty were 2.21 (healthy group), 7.66 (high-risk group) and 15.69 (frail group). Scores based on weakness level differed significantly with the exception of nutrition. Nine out of 10 elders in disadvantaged areas were in the frail group or at high risk. Conclusion: Results support the goal to maintain/improve physical/mental functions through individual management of high-risk/frail older adults at risk of becoming infirm. It is imperative to implement a public health care delivery system to ensure programs are operated effectively and personalized.

운동 유발성 알레르기 질환분석 및 비타민 C와 catalase 투여 효과 분석 (Studies of Exercise-Induced Allergy Anaphylaxis Mechanisms and the Effects of Vitamin C and Catalase Supplementation in Exercise-Induced Allergy Anaphylaxis Models)

  • 전 세계적으로 알레르기 환자가 증가하고 있고, 특히 운동이 알레르기 질환을 증가 시켜 운동 유발성 알레르기에 대한 연구가 주목되고 있다. 운동 유발성 알레르기 질환은 운동 중과 운동 후 혈관부종, 두드레기, 호흡, 위와 장계의 증후 및 아나플락시스 등이 나타나는 질환이다. 따라서 본 연구는 운동 유발성 알레르기 질환의 분석 및 비타민 C와 catalase 투여에 대한 항 알레르기 효과와 활성 산소종 생성 조절제 들의 상호작용을 규명하고 전반적인 운동 유발성 알레르기 질환의 치료효과를 규명하는데 그 목적이 있다. 연구방법으로는 무병원성환경에서 사육한 생후 7주령의 BALE/c마우스(Female)를 그룹핑 하여 통제군과 훈련군에게 각각 알레르기를 유발한 후, 서로 다른 기간의 운동 효과를 분석하였고, 운동 유발성 알레르기 군에게 비타민c와 catalase를 투여하여 투여 효과를 분석하였다. 본 연구결과 운동 유발성 알레르기 질환은 훈련기간이 늘어남에 따라 증가함을 알 수 있었고, 이러한 운동 유발성 알레르기 질환과 쇼크사는 복강 림프구에서 발현하는 ROS는 큰 연관이 있다는 것, 그리고 운동 유발성 알레르기 치료 효과는 catalase를 투여하는 것 보다 비타민을 투여하는 것이 더욱 효과적임을 알 수 있었다. 추후 이에 대한 원인을 규명하는 기전적 연구가 필요할 것으로 여겨진다.

16주간의 복합운동이 파킨슨병 환자의 혈중 도파민 농도, 기능적 체력 및 삶의 질에 미치는 영향 (Effects of 16-week Combined Exercise on Blood Dopamine Concentrations, Functional Fitness and Qol in Patients with Parkinson's Disease)

  • 본 연구의 목적은 파킨슨병 환자를 대상으로 16주간 복합운동을 수행하였을 때 혈중 도파민 농도, 기능적 체력 및 삶의 질에 어떠한 영향을 미치는지를 규명하는데 있다. 이를 위해 본 연구에 참여한 60대 이상의 파킨슨병 환자 24명을 운동군(n=12)과 통제군(n=12)으로 분류한 후 운동군을 대상으로 16주 동안 주 2회, 회기 당 70분의 복합운동을 실시하였다. 복합운동 실시 전·후 항목별 차의 비교를 위해 그룹 내 차이는 대응 t 검정, 그룹 간 차이는 독립 t 검정, 상호작용 검증을 위해 이원 반복측정 분산분석을 사용하였으며, 각 항목별 통계적 유의수준은 .05로 설정하였다. 그 결과 첫째, 도파민 농도는 운동군(p<.01)이 16주간 운동 전보다 운동 후 유의하게 증가하였고, 통제군의 경우 유의한 차이가 나타나지 않았다. 둘째, 기능적 체력에서 악력은 운동군(p<.001)과 통제군(p<.05) 모두 16주간 운동 전보다 운동 후 유의하게 증가하였고, 덤벨들기(p<.001), 의자 일었다 앉기(p<.001), 3m 걸어갔다 돌아오기(p<.01)가 16주간 운동 전보다 운동 후 운동군에서 유의한 차이를 보였고, 통제군은 유의한 차이가 나타나지 않았다. 셋째, 삶의 질은 운동군(p<.001)이 16주간 운동 전보다 운동 후 유의하게 증가하였다. 이상의 결과를 종합해 볼 때 16주간의 복합운동은 파킨슨병 환자에게 매우 효과적임을 알 수 있었으며, 도파민 농도를 증가시키고 근력, 근지구력, 평형성 및 보행능력 등 기능적 체력과 삶의 질을 향상시키는데 도움을 줄 수 있다고 사료된다.

자색고구마 섭취와 유산소 복합운동이 비만 여중생의 건강체력, 혈중지질 및 인슐린 저항성에 미치는 영향 (Effects of Purple Sweet Potato intake and Aerobic Combined Exercise on Health Related Fitness, Blood lipid profile and Insulin resistance)

  • 본 연구는 자색고구마 섭취와 유산소 복합운동이 비만 여중생의 건강체력, 혈중지질 및 인슐린 저항성에 미치는 영향을 알아보는데 목적이 있다. 체지방률 30% 이상의 비만 여중생을 대상으로 자색고구마섭취 운동군(A, 6명), 운동군(B, 6명), 자색고구마섭취군(C, 6명), 대조군(D, 6명) 총 24명으로 실시하였다. 건강체력, 혈중지질 및 인슐린 저항성은 사전 사후 2회 측정하였으며, 유산소 복합운동은 12주간 주 3회, 1회 70분, 40~70%HRR 강도로 실시하였다. 연구결과 집단 내 체지방률[(A(p<.01), C(p<.05) 그룹), TC[A(p<.05), B(p<.01), C(p<.01) 그룹] 및 인슐린저항성[A(p<.05) 그룹) 유의하게 감소하였고, 제지방량[A(p<.01), B(p<.01) 그룹], 근력[A(p<.01), B(p<.001), C(p<.05) 그룹], 근지구력[A(p<.05), B(p<.001) 그룹], 유연성[A(p<.05), B(p<.01) 그룹] 및 심폐지구력[A(p<.05), B(p<.001), C(p<.01) 그룹]은 유의하게 증가하였다. 집단 간 체지방률, TC 및 TG는 A그룹이 D그룹보다 유의하게(p<.05) 감소하였다. 제지방량은 A, B그룹이 C, D그룹보다 유의하게(p<.001) 증가하였다. 근력, 심폐지구력 및 HDL-C은 A그룹이 C, D그룹보다 유의하게(p<.05) 증가하였다. 유연성은 A, B그룹이 D그룹보다 유의하게(p<.05) 증가하였다. 인슐린 저항성은 A, B, C그룹이 D그룹보다 유의하게(p<.05) 감소하였다. 유산소성 복합운동과 자색고구마 섭취가 건강체력, 혈중지질 및 인슐린 저항성에 긍정적인 영향을 미쳤다.

A Smart Bench Press Machine: Automatic Weight Control Sensitive to User Tiredness

  • In order to provide a safe free-weight-training environment to people without workout trainers, we suggest a smart bench press machine with an automatic weight control system sensitive to user tiredness. Physical weight plates on the machine are replaced with a hydraulic cylinder as a press load and the cylinder knob is coupled with a step motor to change its tensile force automatically in-between lifting exercises. Three subjects participated to verify the usability of the smart bench press machine. They were asked to lift a 6-RM press load 10 times with 3 different lifting conditions: 1) no assistance, 2) a human assistance, and 3) the automatic weight control. All subjects were not able to complete the 10 sets without assistance due to tiredness, but they finished the full sets under the two assistive conditions. Average lifting speeds under the automatic weight control condition showed the most consistent level. Normalized quasi-tension data based on surface electromyogram signals of both Pectoralis Majors revealed that the subjects maintained the target muscle activation level above 50% but not more than 80% throughout the 10 sets. Therefore, the smart bench press machine is expected to both keep pace with the lifting exercise and reduce risk of injuries due to excessive muscle tensions.
