Background: Rates of overweight and obese Australians are high and continue to rise, putting a large proportion of the population at risk of chronic illness. Examining characteristics associated with preference for a work-based weight-loss program will enable employers to better target programs to increase enrolment and benefit employees' health and fitness for work. Methods: A cross-sectional survey was undertaken at two Australian mining sites. The survey collected information on employee demographics, health characteristics, work characteristics, stages of behavior change, and preference for workplace assistance with reaching a healthy weight. Results: A total of 897 employees participated; 73.7% were male, and 68% had a body mass index in the overweight or obese range. Employees at risk of developing obesity-related chronic illnesses (based on high body mass index) were more likely to report preference for weight management assistance than lower risk employees. This indicates that, even in the absence of workplace promotion for weight management, some at risk employees want workplace assistance. Employees who were not aware of a need to change their current nutrition or physical activity behaviors were less likely to seek assistance. This indicates that practitioners need to communicate the negative effects of excess weight and promote the benefits of a healthy lifestyle to increase the likelihood of weight management. Conclusion: Weight management programs should provide information, motivation. and trouble-shooting assistance to meet the needs of at-risk mining employees, including those who are attempting to change and maintain behaviors to achieve a healthy weight and be suitably fit for work.
Purpose: Adolescence is a developmental period characterized by the rapid growth of the musculoskeletal system, which is important for maintaining correct posture. Incorrect posture, lack of exercise, and reduced physical activity can cause spine deformities and affect lifelong health. This study was designed to evaluate the application and effect of a program for improving adolescents' musculoskeletal health. Methods: A quasi-experimental pilot study was conducted with 13 male and 20 female middle and high school students, with an average age of 15.39 years. Their general characteristics and physical measurements were obtained. The program consisted of group exercises (60 minutes, once per week), gait pattern monitoring, and online communication. A paired t-test and Wilcoxon signed-rank test were used to examine the program's effect. Results: Overall posture habits improved, and the total musculoskeletal index decreased; however, these results were not statistically significant. Conclusions: The devised program was effective in improving musculoskeletal imbalance. Therefore, effective programs and health devices should be developed to help adolescents maintain correct posture and encourage and support continuous participation in such programs.
Objectives: A healthy campus enables students to pursue their academic goals. This study examines the health in a broad spectrum of university students and suggests a systematic approach to building a healthy university campus. Methods: The Korea National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey (1998-2009) results and the American College Health Association-National College Health Assessment (2000-2011) report were used as bases for this study. Results: The most common health problems were allergies, sinusitis, ear infections, anemia, depression, and stress among both American students and Korean young people in the 19-29 age group. American students were more likely to be overweight, while Korean young people were to become underweight. College students were also less likely to practice healthy behavior(i.e. vaccinations, physical activity, and not smoking). To build a healthy university campus, six areas of health services are suggested: medical care, health education, counseling, immunization, heath promotion, and employee assistance programs (EAP). In addition, universities should develop effective strategies to improve health on campus, such as community partnerships. Conclusions: To make the most of the limited resources requires a systematic approach that focuses on continuous monitoring of health on campus, health surveys, and collaboration between universities and their communities.
Purpose: The purpose of this study was to identify the factors related to depression of elderly patients in geriatric hospitals. Methods: The subjects were 195 elderly patients who met the inclusion criteria of scores more than 18 on the K-MMSE score and no reported mental disease. The data were collected from February 20 to March 20, 2009. The research instruments utilized in this study were depression (GDSSF-K), activities of daily living and self esteem (RSES), social support, life satisfaction. Data were analyzed Pearson correlation and Multiple Stepwise Regression using SPSS 15.0. Results: Depression score were negatively correlation with ADL, social support, life satisfaction and self-esteem. Among the factors studied related to depression, life satisfaction had highest explanatory power of 36.5% and it was followed by physical health status and activity of daily living. These explained 43.7% of the depression. Conclusion: The mean GDSSF-K 8.94, which indicates the higher than middle levels of depression. The findings suggest that it is important to develop educational programs to increase life satisfaction, physical health status and activity of daily living. Nursing interventions, including volunteer activities, health promotion program, and sports program could be useful in enhancing these factors.

This study aimed to identify factors associated with depression by household type among the elderly in the community during the COVID-19 pandemic. The subjects were 72,812 elderly aged 65 and over who participated in the 2020 Community Health Survey. Multivariate logistic regression with complex samples was performed to analyze the data. The incidence of depression was higher in single-person households than in multi-person households. In single-person and multi-person households, depression was higher in women, those over 75 years old, those with middle school graduates or lower, those with a household monthly income of 1 million won or less, and those receiving basic living recipients. Factors related to depression among the elderly in single-person households were physical activity, sleep time, and drinking, among the changes in lifestyle due to COVID-19. Factors related to depression among the elderly in multi-person households were physical activity, sleep time, consumption of instant food, and alcohol drinking, among the changes in lifestyle due to COVID-19, and psychological concerns due to COVID-19. Promoting mental health and developing customized programs by household type is necessary to prevent depression in the elderly in the community.

Objectives: This study was conducted to investigate the change of health status through the intervention of physical activity arid exercise program for the people living in the area where health promotion program has been executed. Methods: The data was obtained from self--administered questionnaire. The questionnaire consisted of general characteristics, physical activity transition and health status variables using the SF-36(36-Item Short-From Health Survey). Data were analyzed 134 subjects participating in the physical activity arid exercise intervention programs. Results: The 35.1% of adults above 20 years of age are regularly physical activity and exercise before intervention program. but the rate increased to 49.3% after that. Frequency and duration of physical activity were increased, and frequency of participating in physical activity was increased from 0.9 times a week to 2.1 times especially. Scores of health status measured by SF-36 was increased in category (if general health after intervention of program, but those were decreased in category of vitality and mental health. Physical function of four groups classified by change of behavioral pattern were increased after intervention of program, especially in groups starting to physical activity. Conclusions: Physical activity and exercise is associated with health status. This study suggest that effective strategy and policy supporting for the promotion of physical activity and exercise should be needed in all peoples.

Since students of the College of Maritime Sciences will become professionals contributing to the development of the Korean shipping industry after graduation, they are required to successfully complete school life including theoretical and practical curriculum with health promotion behavior. The purpose of this study was to investigate the factors influencing health promotion behavior by students of the College of Maritime Science in order to collect basic data through a survey for the development of health promotion programs. Health promotion behavior by students of the College of Maritime Sciences was less frequent than by other college students, and the levels of health promotion behavior sub-domains were lower in order of interpersonal relations, spiritual growth, stress management, nutrition, physical activity, and health responsibility. The most influential factors for health promotion behavior were learner participation, health promotion self-efficacy, self-esteem, and social support. It is necessary to develop a differentiated health promotion program considering the characteristics of students and to apply it systematically from the time of admission to improve health promotion behavior by students of the College of Maritime Sciences.
Objectives: Life style modification leads to decrease health risk and change of health status for person at health risk. This study aimed to suggest essential components and effective strategies for customized health management service to provide individual and risk group in public and private health care organizations. Methods: To systematic review the essential component of health management service, I performed to collect political legislation, research papers, reports, publication and public release for heath management service from 2008 to 2016. Essential components of heath management service were service scope, service design, organizations and applied technology. Results: Service cope was composed of health risk factors, such as smoking, drinking, nutrition, physical activity and weight control. Main strategies were customized health management services, personalized behavior modification programs, evidence-based service protocol, utilization of information and communications technology (ICT), multi-dimension and multi-level approach, and public and private organizations partnership through health policies and health care system. Conclusions: To make the most of the limited resources, it should require a systematic approach that focuses on continuous monitoring and partnership of health management service.
Objectives: This study was to examine by gender the clustering patterns and correlates of healthy lifestyle clusters and the relationships between healthy lifestyle clusters and depressive symptoms in middle-aged and older adults. Methods: The observed/expected ratio of physical activity, smoking, and alcohol consumption were calculated to analyze clustering effects. The correlates of those healthy lifestyle clusters were evaluated using logistic regression models, and the relationship between those healthy lifestyle clusters and depressive symptoms was investigated using multiple regressions by gender. Results: Based on the guidelines this study adopted, we obtained three healthy lifestyle clusters: active healthy lifestyle; passive healthy lifestyle; and unhealthy lifestyle. All three clusters were found in men, but two in women, who did not have an unhealthy lifestyle cluster. High socio-economic status was positively related to healthy lifestyle clusters. Social participation and residence location (in men) and marital status (in women) were significant factors. Having an active or a passive healthy lifestyle was negatively associated with depressive symptoms in women, but such a relationship was not observed in men. Conclusions: The study findings imply that health promotion programs for middle-aged and older adults in Korea should be comprehensive and integrated, considering healthy lifestyle clusters and gender differences.

This study was conducted to evaluate the effects of physical activity practice rates and knowledge related to cardiocerebrovascular disease prevention on the health behavior of middle aged women. Data were collected from Oct to Nov 2017 from 142 middle-aged women living in 24 Eup, Myeon, and Dong areas in North Gyeongsangbuk-do Province using a structured questionnaire. The obtained data were analyzed using descriptive statistics, t-tests, ANOVA, Pearson's correlation, and stepwise multiple regression analysis. The major factors influencing health behavior were found to be alcohol consumption (${\beta}=0.15$, p=0.009), diet (${\beta}=0.16$, p=0.003), vigorous intensity (${\beta}=0.14$, p=0.011), marriage (${\beta}=0.19$, p<0.001), interest in one's own health (${\beta}=0.23$, p<0.001), and health recognition (ill: ${\beta}=0.31$, p<0.001). Alcohol consumption and diet were factors of cardiocerebrovascular knowledge, vigorous intensity was a factor of physical activity practice rate, marriage and interest in one's own health were factors of general characteristics, and health recognition was a factor in health-related characteristics. Health-promotion activity was positively correlated with knowledge regarding cardiocerebrovascular disease prevention (r=0.41, p<0.001) and physical activity practice rate (r=0.44, p<0.001). It will be necessary to develop and apply practical intervention programs based on disease prevention knowledge and physical activity to enhance the health behavior of middle aged women.
