Surface Modification of Zinc Oxide Nanorods with Zn-Porphyrin via Metal-Ligand Coordination for Photovoltaic Applications

  • We modify ZnO nanorods with Zn-porphyrin to obtain the improved characteristics of energy transfer, which is further investigated for the applicability to photovoltaic devices. A nitrogen heterocyclic ligand containing a thiol group is covalently grafted onto the surface of finely structured ZnO nanorods with a length of 50-250 nm and a diameter of 15-20 nm. Zn-porphyrin is then attached to the ligand molecules by the mechanism of metalligand axial coordination. The resulting energy band diagram suggests that the porphyrin-modified ZnO nanorods might provide an efficient pathway for energy transfer upon being applied to photovoltaic devices.

  • As one of the non-vacuum, low temperature fabrication route, electrochemical synthesis has been focused for pursuing the cost-effective pathway to produce high efficiency photovoltaic devices. Especially the availability to form the thin film structure on flexible substrate would be the great advantage of electrochemical process. The successful synthesis of the most favorable absorber materials such as CdTe and CIGS has been reported by many researchers, however, the efficiency of electrochemically synthesized could not exceed that from vacuum process, because of microstructural controllability and compositional variation on devices. In this study, we represent the effect of process parameters on the microstructure and composition of compound semiconductor during the synthesis, and propose the photovoltaic characteristics of electrochemically synthesized solar cells.

  • This paper aims at developing remote control system to control and monitor distributed various devices such as UPS or photovoltaic inverter system through internet. TCP/IP(Transmission Control Protocol/Internet Protocol) and photovoltaic inverter system operated in a row are adopted for network management protocol and applied device, respectively. For controlling and monitoring distributed devices in real-time, java-environment software is constructed. Also, HelloDevice, general-use interface controller between network device and applied device is proposed. Finally, serial communication such as RS-232C is used between controller and applied device.

  • We have fabricated solar cell devices based on zinc-phthalocyanine(ZnPc) as donor(D) and fullerene(C60) as electron acceptor(A) with doped charge transport layers, and BCP and $Alq_3$ as an exciton blocking layer(EBL). We have measured the photovoltaic characteristics of the solar cell devices using the Xe lamp as a light source. We were use of $Alq_3$ layer leads to external power conversion efficiency was 2.65% at illumination intensity $100mW/cm^2$. Also we confirmed the optimum thickness ratio of the DA hetero-junction is about 1:2.

  • Since photovoltaic generating system is significantly important among renewable energy sources, photovoltaic plants are installed more than past. As a result, accidents of photovoltaic system are also increased, so the additional hardware which includes monitoring system and periodic inspection are required for safety. In addition, a photovoltaic system is installed where a person can't approach to detect a fault, so a number of devices are required to detect it. This paper proposes that drone and thermo-graphic camera are used for detecting a fault of photovoltaic plant and suggests efficiency to control a drone for detecting a photovoltaic plant.

전극함몰형 태양전지의 무전해도금 (Electroless plating of buried contact solar cell)

  • 태양전지의 전극형성은 전지의 가격과 성능 그리고 시스댐의 신뢰성을 결정하는데 매우 중요한 변수이다. 기폰의 스크련 프린팅 기술은 전면전극에 냐쁜 영향을 미치는 여러가지 제약들을 가지고 었다. 전극함몰형 태양전지는 기존의 전극에서 발생하는 문제점을 극복하고 저가격 대량생산을 위해서 고안된 것이다. 본 논문에서는 무전해 도금방법을 사용하여 함몰형 전지의 전극을 형성하는 공정을 최적화함으로써 값싸고 재현성있게 전지를 제조할 수 있었다. 무전해 도금용액으로는 상엽적으로 사용되는 니켈, 구리, 은 용액을 사용하었으며, 전지의 효울 을 최고 18.8 %까지 얻었다. 이때 전지의 개방전압은 651 mV, 단락전류밀도는 37.1 mA/$\textrm{cm}^2$, 충실도는 77.8 % 었으며 배치에서 90 % 이상의 전지가 18 % 이상의 효율을 나타내었다.

It has been a long time since organic solar cells were expected as a low-cost energy-conversion device. Although practical use of them has not been achieved, technological progress continues. Morphology of the materials, organic/inorganic interface, metal cathodes, molecular packing and structural properties of the donor and acceptor layers are essential for photovoltaic response. We have fabricated solar cell devices based on zinc-phthalocyanine(ZnPc) as donor(D) and fullerine($C_{60}$) as electron acceptor(A) with doped charge transport layers, $Alq_3$ as an electron transport or injection layer. We observed the photovoltaic characteristics of the solar cell devices using the Xe lamp as a light source.

  • $TiO_2/CH_3NH_3Pb_{1-x}Sb_xI_{3-3x}Br_{3x}-based$ photovoltaic devices were fabricated by a spin-coating method using mixture solutions with $SbBr_3$. Effects of $SbBr3$, CsI or RbBr addition to $CH_3NH_3PbI_3$ precursor solutions on the photovoltaic properties where investigated. The short-circuit current densities and photoconversion efficiencies were improved by adding a small amount of $SbBr_3$, CsI or RbBr to the perovskite phase, which would be due to the doping effect of Sb, Br and Cs/Rb atom at the Pb, I and $CH_3NH3$ sites, respectively.
