  • The paper proposes a simulation model of grid-connected photovoltaic generation system (PV system) using on PSCAD/EMTDC, a reliable power system and apparatus transient analysis program. A equivalent circuit model of a solar cell is used for modeling solar array. A series of parameters required for array modeling are deduced from general specification data of a solar module. A PWM voltage source inverter (VSI) model is presented and current control scheme is implemented for VSI control. A maximum power point tracking (MPPT) technique is applied for controlling the PV system. Simulation case study provides V-I and V-P characteristics of solar array and PV system control performance for irradiation changes.

  • Recently, research on cost reduction and efficiency improvement of crystalline silicon(c-Si) photovoltaic(PV) module has been conducted. In order to reduce costs, the thickness of solar cell wafers is becoming thinner. If the thickness of the wafer is reduced, cracking of wafer may occur in high temperature processes during the c-Si PV module manufacturing process. To solve this problem, a low temperature process has been proposed. Conductive paste(CP) is used for low temperature processing; it contains Sn57.6Bi0.4Ag component and can be electrically combined with solar cells and ribbons at a melting point of $150^{\circ}C$. Use of CP in the PV module manufacturing process can minimize cracks of solar cells. When CP is applied to solar cells, the output varies with the amount of CP, and so the optimum amount of CP must be found. In this paper, in order to find the optimal CP application amount, we manufactured several c-Si PV modules with different CP amounts. The amount control of CP is fixed at air pressure (500 kPa) and nozzle diameter 22G(outer diameter 0.72Ø, inner 0.42Ø) of dispenser; only speed is controlled. The c-Si PV module output is measured to analyze the difference according to the amount of CP and analyzed by optical microscope and Alpha-step. As the result, the optimum amount of CP is 0.452 ~ 0.544 g on solar cells.

  • The conventional grid connected PV(Photovoltaic) system has a unstable output pattern due to its dependence on the weather condition, although solar-cell array averagely has a regular output characteristics to have a peak output nearly at noon. Therefore assuming the high density grid connection in the future, this unstable output pattern can be one of the main reasons to generate power disturbance such as voltage variation, frequency variation and harmonic voltage generation in low voltage distribution line. However general grid connected solar-cell system do not have functions to cope with these disturbances. Therefore this study proposed a advanced type grid connected PV system with functions to suppress output power fluctuation due to solar-cell array output variation and showed the levelling effect of fluctuation due to instantaneous array output variation.

  • Operating conditions of photovoltaic power generator is very sensitive to the PV modules. The PV module's control is an importance issue in the removing DC ripple noise. In this paper, the phase-shifted-carrier technique, which is a new three-step dc-dc power multi-converter schemes, is applied to solar generator system to improve the output current waveform. The novel type of three-step dc-dc converter presented has many features such as the good output waveform, high efficiency, low switching losses, low acoustic noise. The circuit configuration is constructed by the conventional full-bridge type converter circuit using the isolated DC power supply for which the solar cell is very suitable. In the end, a circuit design for understanding three-step dc-dc converter and new solar power system were presented

대면적 양면 태양광 모듈의 기계적 신뢰성 연구 (A Study on the Mechanical Reliability of Large-area Bi-facial Glass-to-glass Photovoltaic Modules)

  • For the high efficiency of the photovoltaic module, a high-output solar cell, which is the basis of photovoltaic power generation, is required. As the light receiving area of the solar cell increases, the light receiving area of the photovoltaic module also increases. Accordingly, recent trend is to use large-area solar cells such as M6 and M8 instead of M2-based solar cells for manufacturing the photovoltaic module and a study on the mechanical stiffness of the module with increased size is required. In this study, a mechanical load test corresponding to IEC-61215 was performed among the reliability tests of large-area photovoltaic modules. In order to confirm the degree to which the mechanical load test affects the photovoltaic module, the output and EL images were checked by sequentially increasing the pressure by 600 Pa at a pressure of 2400 Pa. Also, factors such as output and efficiency of large-area photovoltaic modules were verified through mechanical load testing of actual large-area photovoltaic modules and the rate of change was very small at 1%.

  • This paper describes a circuit based simulation model for a Photovoltaic(PV) cell in order to estimate the electrical behavior of the solar cell module with changes of environmental parameters such as shunt resistance, series resistance, temperature and irradiance. An accurate I-V model of PV module is presented based on the Shockley diode model. The general model was implemented on Matlab scrip file, and used irradiance and temperature as variables and outputs of the I-V characteristic. A typical PV module was used for the evaluation, and results was compared with reference taken directly from the manufacturer's published curves leading to excellent agrement with the theoretical prediction.

  • In this paper, we analyze the electrical characteristics of PV depending on distance among solar cells before and after lamination process. From the result, the PV module's maximum power increases about 3.37% when solar cells's distance is 10mm. And the maximum power increases up to 8.42% when solar cells's maximum distance is 50mm. It is assumed that PV module's surface temperature decreases because of increasing distance between solar cells that would give high power generation. Also, short distance between solar cell and frame result in contamination on glass. When considering reduced maximum power caused by contaminant, from that, we can fabricated PV module of lower cost with high performance.

  • Many photovoltaic(PV) systems are being developed and installed. For a PV developer, simulations are required before the experimental testing. However, most simulation tools do not offer data libraries for PV systems, so that some Institutes who try to use such software will be in difficulty. In this paper, simulations of performance and stability have been carried out using the software PSPICE. In this paper, the modelling of solar cell arrays, photovoltaic modules, PV generators, batteries and drive systems is carried out based on mathematical equivalence circuits and available data, and the models are converted into a data library for PSPICE that is user friendly. System variations can be modeled by simple parameter variation. To verify the accuracy of the simulation library, various models were run and compared to known systems.

  • This paper is about the study on MPPT algorithm of PV module where mismatched solar cells exist. PSIM simulation tool was used to verify new MPPT algorithm and PV module modeling was made. It was verified for the proposed algorithm to track the right MPP of PV boost converter under mismatched condition, which shows a shading effect in PV module. An experiment will be done soon using PV simulator for verification of the proposed algorithm.

  • Generally, photovoltaic modules consist of glass, EVA, Solar Cell, back sheet and ribbon. But EVA, solar cell, ribbon affect electric output with temperature. EVA is a change in the transmittance of light from the sun. In addition, the solar cell output is decreased with temperature and the ribbon increases resistance. Transmittance and reflectance of glass and EVA were measured. In this paper, the characteristics of the components of PV module as EVA and Glass, ribbon were studied by variable temperature. effects on material properties investigated. As a result, glass is independent in temperature variation. EVA was the reduction 1~4% in transmittance. Solar cell decrease 0.469[%/$^{\circ}C$] in electric output by temperature variation.
