  • Surface quality of a micro-processed sample with laser has been investigated by using of scanning confocal microscope(SCM) and atomic force microscope(AFM). Samples are bump electrodes and ITO glass of LCD module used in a mobile phone and a wafer surface scribed by UV laser. A image of $140\times120{\mu}m^2$ is obtained within 1 second by SCM because scan speed of a x-axis and y-axis are 1kHz and 1Hz, respectively. AFM is able to measure correctly hight and width of ITO and scribing depth and width of a wafer with a resolution less than 300 . However, the scan speed is slow and it is difficult to distinguish a surface composed of different nm kinds of materials. Results show that SCM is preferable to obtain a image of a sample composed of different kinds of material than AFM because the intensity of a reflected light from surface is different from each material.

  • This paper describes the development of a small lens molding system for manufacturing the small lens like lens of a cellular phone, a small digital camera and so on. In order to manufacture a small lens, firstly, the raw material for lens with spherical shape should be manufactured by processing a glass, secondly, the mold inserted the raw material for lens should be heated till its molding temperature in the electric furnace, finally, the small lens is manufactured by applying the force using pressuring control system. In this paper, the small lens molding system with the function of force control and velocity control was developed. It is composed of a electric furnace and its temperature control system, a pressuring control system, a body, and so on. The temperature characteristic test of the electric furnace, and the force and velocity characteristic test of the pressuring control system were carried out. It was confirmed that the developed system had good functions for manufacturing a small lens.

  • Recently, demands on thin multi-layer printed circuit boards(PCB) have been rapidly increased with broad spread of personal portable digital appliances such as multi-media. In case of mobile phone, however, the fact that PCBs have low flexural strength might cause defects. The purpose of this study is to improve the flexural strength by substituting the well-known GFRP(glass fiber reinforced plastic) for CFRP(carbon fiber reinforced plastic). Firstly, finite element simulation was carried out using ABAQUS to find out a unique CFRP layer that has a role to sustain the applied forces mainly in PCB. Secondly, three point bending tests were conducted with the newly designed CFRP PCB model to verify the improvement of the flexural strength. Consequently, it is shown that PCB layered with the CFRP on both outer sides of the board can be used to improve the flexural strength effectively.

  • We have investigated the EPR signal properties in 12 components of two mobile phones (LCD, OLED) using electron paramagnetic resonance (EPR) spectrometer in this study.EPR measurements were performed at normal atmospheric conditions using Bruker EXEXSYS-II E500 spectrometer with X-band bridge, and samples were irradiated by $^{137}Cs$ gamma-ray source. To identify the presence of radiation-induced signal (RIS), the EPR spectra of each sample were measured unirradiated and irradiated at 50 Gy. Then, dose-response curve and signal intensity variating by time after irradiation were measured. As a result, the signal intensity increased after irradiation in all samples except the USIM plastic and IC chip. Among the samples, cover glass(CG), lens, light guide plate(LGP) and diffusion sheet have shown fine linearity ($R^2$ > 0.99). Especially, the LGP had ideal characteristics for dosimetry because there were no signal in 0 Gy and high rate of increase in RIS. However, this sample showed weakness in fading. Signal intensity of LGP and Diffusion Sheet decreased by 50% within 72 hours after irradiation, while signals of Cover Glass and Lens were stably preserved during the short period of time. In order to apply rapidly EPR dosimetry using mobile phone components in large-scale radiation accidents, further studies on signal differences for same components of the different mobile phone, fading, pretreatment of samples and processing of background signal are needed. However, it will be possible to do dosimetry by dose-additive method or comparative method using unirradiated same product in small-scale accident.

  • In this paper, we adopted E-MOLD patent technology in order to fabricate Prismless LGP(Light Guide Panel) fur cellular phone and estimate the transcription of injection-molded parts. Then, we manufactured the Ni stamper fur Prismless LGP using MEMS process. And the stamper was installed in the movable heated core which is the key part of a patented mold. Using this mold, we manufactured injection-molded plastic LGP parts with different mold temperatures so that we investigate effect of the temperature on the transcription of the parts. The CAE analysis was also conducted in order to compare with the experimental results. The transcription of LGP parts with various mold temperature displayed $100^{\circ}C$(25.0nm), $140^{\circ}C$(48.4nm), $180^{\circ}C$(52.1nm) and when compared with stamper(521Inm), transcription was superior at $180^{\circ}C$. According to the CAE results, moldability was improved as mold temperature ($50^{\circ}C{\sim}180^{\circ}C$) increased, but when filling time($1{\sim}2sec$) increases, it decreased at $160^{\circ}C$. And transcription and moldability were improved markedly at glass transition temperature($140^{\circ}C$).

  • The purpose of this research was to examine the concept of elementary school teachers of combustion. The participants were selected from the elementary school teachers who had various career experiences, 6th grade science teaching experiences, and academic backgrounds on science. For the purpose of this study, 12 elementary school teachers took the concept-test formed five questions on combustion and were interviewed. The concept-test was composed with 'The definition of combustion', 'The reason that the candle was blown out when glass was closed.', 'The existence of oxygen and carbon dioxide of before and after combustion in glass', 'Combustion of iron', 'Combustion products'. And the collected data by semi-structured interviews based on responses to the concept-test. During the analysis of the data, additional interviews by phone, e-mail and Internet messenger were conducted if necessary. The answers to each question were classified into three levels: (Scientific-concept(S), Partial-concept(P), Misconcept(M)). The research results showed that all teachers had misconceptions or partial-concept of more than 50 percent of each question. Teachers who had the 6th grade science teaching experience acquired scientific concepts of the combustion more than teachers who did not have the 6th grade science teaching experience. We should develop visualization materials about the change of gases during combustion and use these materials for implementation of the scientific concept.

  • In the ICT field, one among the remarkable issue of in 2014 is the "Wear computer", that is, the opening of "Wearable Device" age. The Samsung galaxy gear and products like Google glass and Apple watch are done as the wearable device. According to the definition of MIT Media Lab, the wearable device adheres to the body and is included till the application which names all things doing the computing action and can perform the partial computing function. And the wearable device is one brain. If the wearable device is popularized, it will be changed many things. First of all, 2 hands become free. My body is due to be connected to 24 hours Internet. It is not level that it adheres the Smart phone or device to the body and the brain role in which the device is connected outside directly, the human body is done. In this paper, the related companies analyze the technical elements of this wearable device especially.

  • This study attempted to reveal the characteristics of the Y generation, to derive the services of the next generation digital library, and to compare differences between the demands of the baby boom generation and the Y generation to some extent. As a result, first, it is shown that the digital device the Y generation uses the most, was a cell phone or smartphone, followed by desktop PC, notebook PC, and digital camera. Although there were some differences, the Y generation's use ratio of digital devices was substantially similar to the baby boomers'. Second, there was a significant difference between the Y generation and baby boom generation in terms of using digital services. While the Y generation used internet portals the most, the baby boom generation used e-mail service the most. Third, we surveyed the services which the Y generation and baby boom generation require for the next generation digital libraries, by grouping as follows: the cloud service, infinite creative space (maker space), big data, augmented reality, Google Glass, context-aware technologies, semantic services, SNS service, digital textbook service, RFID and QRCode service, library space configuration, a state-of-the-art display technology, and other innovative services. While the most demanded service by the Y generation was big data service, the baby boom generation most demanded digital textbook service.
