It also intends to establish the identity of future dental hygienists by analyzing the clinical roles of currently practicing dental hygienists through the perspectives of dental hygiene students. Methods: The analysis was performed using the phenomenological method, and it involved 11 participants enrolled between November 20, 2019 and January 20, 2020. Methods: The analysis was done in the phenomenological method on total 11 participants from November 20, 2019 to January 20, 2020. Results: They were exposed to various types of learning. They did not have a sense of belonging, and they experienced the burden of self-learning. They experienced work burden beyond the legal work boundary and a lack of infection control by clinical institutions. They were not respected as professional workers, and they had poor working conditions. Their expertise was not recognized. Conclusions: This study will facilitate appropriate awareness and establish the identity of dental hygienists by critically evaluating their challenges and working conditions and presenting alternatives.

  • Purpose: To describe nursing students' experience of sexual harassment during clinical practicum. Methods: An interpretive phenomenological qualitative approach was used to understand contextual experiences of participants. Individual in-depth interviews were conducted to collect data from thirteen nursing students who experienced sexual harassment during clinical practice in general hospitals at D metropolitan city. All interviews were recorded and transcribed into Korean and English. Transcripts were analyzed using the data analysis method described by Diekelmann, Allen, and Tanner. Results: The following 12 themes emerged from the data: 'unprepared to respond', 'lack of education', 'unsure about when behavior crosses the line', 'power differential for nursing students', 'balancing self-preservation with obligations to patients', 'shame', 'feeling responsible for not being able to prevent the harassment', 'impact on patient care', 'fear of what might have happened', 'fear of repercussions', 'long term impact', and 'peer support'. Conclusion: Participants in this study described feeling an obligation to care for their patients. However, they seemed to be unable to balance this while feeling vulnerable to sexual harassment with strong negative feelings. Helping students recognize and effectively deal with sexual harassment is a critical element to assure quality learning for participants and maintain quality of care during clinical practice.

  • This study aims to explore the lived experiences of middle-aged people with disabilities after a stroke. Using van Manen's phenomenological qualitative method, this study obtained information through interviews with middle-aged people with disabilities after a stroke. The following main themes were extracted from the lived experiences of middle-aged people with disabilities who were interviewed: 'a life broken in half', 'discontinuity and isolation of life', 'being born again', 'fear of stroke relapse', and 'overcoming all difficulties through harmony in a family'. Therefore, the core theme on the lived experiences of middle-aged people with disabilities after a stroke is a shadow of relapse over lives that have to protect families. The implication of this study's results on policy making and actual practices are discussed focusing on the well-being of people with disabilities and their families.

Participants were randomly selected from six childrens who had been diagnosed with precocious puberty. From October 12, 2016 to November 18, 2016, data were collected through in-depth interviews with individuals and group interviews. The method proposed by Colaizzi (1978) was used to guide the process of data analysis. Four theme clusters were derived from interview data : the treatment chosen by the mother, uncomfortable treatment, illness not understood well, and don't want to get treatment again. we identified the various emotional and psychological difficulties experienced by childrens with precocious puberty. Future research should develop a nursing intervention program to reduce the burden of the children and accept the treatment as a positive emotion.

  • Objectives: This qualitative research was conducted to understand the experiences of dental hygienists with respect to emotional labor and stress through in-depth interviews, and analyze experiences that are difficult to grasp in quantitative studies. Methods: From October 7 to October 14 2020, a total of seven study participants were selected and underwent in-depth interviews. A phenomenological research methodology was applied for intensive analysis. Results: The results of the interviews were grouped into five central-categories: relationships in the workplace (trouble with the staff, discrimination against staff, relationship between subordinates and superiors), relationships with non-major (trouble with laboratory staff, inferiority complex and behavior of non-specialists), emotional labor for the patient (patient-centered, patient selfishness, exquisite guardian), conduction of business (passing the work, deterioration in health due to emotional labor), organizing emotions (patience and a sense of collapse, conversation with a coworker). Conclusions: Based on this study, we need to develop tools to measure dental hygienists' emotional labor and stress as well as conduct follow-up research on ways to improve them.
