마이크로 광 조형기술을 이용한 3차원의 배리어가 포함된 케닉스 마이크로 믹서의 개발 (Development of a Three-Dimensional Barrier Embedded Kenics Micromixer by Means of a Micro-Stereolithography Technology)

  • The flow in a microchannel is usually characterized as a low Reynolds number (Re) so that good mixing is quite difficult to be achieved. In this regard, we developed a novel chaotic micromixer, named Barrier Embedded Kenics Micromixer (BEKM). In the BEKM, the higher level of chaotic mixing can be achieved by combining two general chaotic mixing mechanisms: (i) splitting/reorientation by helical elements inside the microchannel and (ii) stretching/folding via periodically located barriers on the channel wall. The fully three-dimensional geometry of BEKM was realized by a micro-stereolithography technology, in this study, along with a Kenics micromixer and a circular T-pipe. Mixing performances of three micromixers were experimentally characterized in terms of an average mixing color intensity of phenolphthalein. Experimental results show that BEKM has better mixing performance than other two micromixers. Chaotic mixing mechanism, proposed in this study, could be integrated as a mixing component with Micro-Total-Analysis-System, Lab-on-a-chip and so on.

미소블록에 의한 교차 회전유동과 미소유로에 의한 박층유동을 이용한 정적 혼돈 미소유체 혼합기에 관한 연구 (Static Chaos Microfluid Mixers Using Alternating Whirls and Laminations)

  • We have deigned, fabricated and compared four different types of static chaos microfluid mixers, including the mixers using straight channel flow, microblock-induced alternating whirl flow, microchannel-induced lamination flow, and combined alternating whirl-lamination flow. Among them, the alternating whirl-lamination (AWL-type) mixer, composed of 3-D rotationally arranged microblocks and dividing microchannels fabricated by conventional planar lithography process, is effective to reduce the mixing length over wide flow rate ranges. We characterize the performance of the fabricated mixers, through the flow visualization technique using phenolphthalein solution. We verify that the AWL-type microfluid mixer shows the shortest fluid mixing length of 2.8mm∼5.8mm for the flow rate range of Re=0.26∼26 with the pressure drop lower than 5kPa. Compared to the previous mixers, requiring the mixing lengths of 7∼17mm, the AWL-type microfluid mixer results in the 60% reduction of the mixing lengths. Due to the reduced mixing lengths within reasonable pressure drop ranges, the present micromixers have potentials for use in the miniaturized Micro-Total-Analysis-Systems($\mu$TAS).

흰쥐에서 대상회전 제거가 위액분비에 미치는 영향 (Effect of Cingulate Cortical Ablation upon Gastric Secretion in Rats)

  • This study was undertaken to investigate the effect of cingulate cortical ablation upon gastric secretion and its components in rats. 23 male rats were divided into the cingulate(N=9) and the operated control(N= 14) groups. Cingulate cortex was ablated through a slit-shaped opening(1 mm in width, 5 mm in length) which was made symmetrically on both sides of, and parallel to, the sagittal suture by removing a bone flap from frontal bone on each side. In the operated control group, the surgical procedure was ended by the removal of the bone flap. Under light ether anesthesia, experimental animals were placed in a restraining jacket of fine mesh wire and gastric juice was collected for 5 hours via a canula which had been inserted through the anterior abdominal wall into the antral portion of the lumen of the stomach. Volume of the gastric juice was measured, and total acid output and free acid output were titrated with 0.04 N NaOH solution by using phenolphthalein and Topfer's reagent at indicator, and chloride ion output was estimated by means of chloridometer. Results obtained were that volume, total acid output, free acid output and chloride ion output of the gastric juice were higher significantly in the cingulate group than in the operated control group. It is inferred from the above results that the cingulate cortex exerts a fascilitatory influence upon gastric secretion and acid output in rats.

Groutability enhancement by oscillatory grout injection: Verification by field tests

  • Grout injection is mainly used for permeability reduction and/or improvement of the ground by injecting grout material into pores, cracks, and joints in the ground. The oscillatory grout injection method was developed to enhance the grout penetration. In order to verify the level of enhancement of the grout, field grout injection tests, both static and oscillatory tests, were performed at three job sites. The enhancement in the permeability reduction and ground improvement effect was verified by performing a core boring, borehole image processing analysis, phenolphthalein test, scanning electron microscopy analysis, variable heat test, Lugeon test, standard penetration test, and an elastic wave test. The oscillatory grout injection increased the joint filling rate by 80% more and decreased the permeability coefficient by 33-68%, more compared to the static grout injection method. The constrained modulus of the jointed rock mass was increased by 50% more with oscillatory grout injection compared to the static grout injection, indicating that the oscillatory injection was more effective in enhancing the stiffness of the rock mass.

  • In Korea, there is no clearly established technology for diagnosing and evaluating the damage depth of concrete structures created by fire. There have been cases of repairing, reinforcing, and demolishing degraded structures without diagnosing the damage depth. The commonly used phenolphthalein-based carbonate thickness measurement does not satisfy the complete disappearance condition of Ca(OH)2 in the interval where the relatively stationary flow declines after exposure to high temperatures. Even a small amount of Portlandite[Ca(OH)2] reacts with a red color, and the damage depth is misjudged. It was confirmed by X-ray diffraction and scanning electron microscope that Ca(OH)2 existed from 300℃ to 500℃ where the residual compressive strength decreased.

친 이산화탄소 흡착제를 이용한 모르타르 내 이산화탄소 흡수능 평가 (Evaluation of $CO_2$ Uptake Using $CO_2$ Philic Adsorbents in Mortar)

  • 본 연구에서는 탄산화 반응을 이용하여 아민기를 가지는 다양한 친 이산화탄소 흡착제들을 모르타르에 적용함으로써 모르타르 내에 이산화탄소의 포집능을 증대시키는 연구를 하였다. 모르타르 내에 포집된 이산화탄소의 정도를 평가하기 위하여 열중량 분석, 페놀프탈레인법, FT-IR, XRD 및 FE-SEM의 분석법을 이용하여 연구를 진행하였다. 이산화탄소 흡착제를 사용하였을 때, 이산화탄소 흡수효율은 최대 58.5% 개선되었으며, 탄산화 깊이는 일반 모르타르에 비해 3배 더 증가하였다. 이는 대기 중의 이산화탄소가 친 이산화탄소 흡착제 수용액의 아민기와 반응하여 생성된 중탄산염 이온과 시멘트에서 용해되어 나온 칼슘 이온과 화학반응이 일어나면서 탄산칼슘의 형태로 모르타르 내에 저장된 것으로 확인되었다. 또한 함침에 의한 모르타르의 표면에 흡착제의 고정화는 이산화탄소의 흡착량을 증대시키는 것이 가능한 것으로 나타났다.

인공경량골재의 탄산화 반응에 따른 물성향상에 관한 연구 (Property enhancement of lightweight aggregate by carbonation processing)

  • 순환유동층 연소방식의 화력발전소에서 석탄을 연소시킨 후 발생하는 석탄재 중 탄산화 반응 인자인 Ca 성분을 다량 포함한 비산회를 시멘트에 일정량 치환하여 제조한 인공경량 경화체를 초임계상태에서 이산화탄소($CO_2$)를 고정화하여 골재의 기계적 물성향상을 도모하였다. 초임계 분위기 $40^{\circ}C$ 조건에서 비산회의 치환량을 변화시켜 재령일수별 탄산화를 시행하였다. 비산회 치환량에 따른 탄산화 반응시킨 인공경량골재 경화체의 무게변화율, TG/DTA 분석, 1 % 페놀프탈레인 알칼리성 측정을 통하여 탄산화 진행여부를 확인하였으며 28일까지의 재령 이후 경화체의 압축강도 측정과 비중측정을 통하여 골재의 기계적 물성향상과 인공경량골재의 기준 비중치인 2.0 이하의 비중값을 갖는 탄소고정 인공경량골재 경화체를 얻는 것이 가능할 것으로 판단되었다.

Bacillus sp. E1이 생성하는 Cyclodextrin Glucanotransferase의 정제 및 특성 (Purification and Characterization of Cyclodextrin Glucanotransferase from Bacillus sp. El)

  • Cyclodextrin glucanotransferase 생산균주 선발배지를 이용하여 국내 토양으로부터 CGTase 활성이 우수한 Bacillus sp. E1균주를 분리하였다. FPLC를 이용하여 gel filtration과 anion exchange column chromatography를 한 결과 순수 정제된 단일 단백질을 얻을 수 있었으며, 정제된 효소의 최적 작용 pH 범위는 6에서 8까지 였고, 온도는 $60^{\circ}C$에서 최적을 나타냈다. 정제된 단백질의 분자량은 114,000, 등전점은 4.3이었다. 생성된 cyclodextrin은 $\beta$$\gamma$-cyclodextrin이 주였으며, 특이하게도 $\alpha$-cyclodextrin은 거의 생성되지 않았다. 작용 후 25시간 후 최대의 $\beta$-cyclodextrin이 생성되었으며, 이때 $\beta$-cyclodextrin과 $\gamma$-cyclodextrin의 생성비율은 7:1이었다.

사출 성형된 일회용 카오스 마이크로 믹서의 개발: 나선형 라미네이션 마이크로 믹서 (II) - 제작 및 혼합 실험 - (Development of an Injection Molded Disposable Chaotic Micromixer: Serpentine Laminating Micromixer (II) - Fabrication and Mixing Experiment -)

  • In this paper, Part II, we realized the Serpentine Laminating Micromirer (SLM) which was proposed in the accompanying paper, Part I, by means of the injection molding process in mass production. In the SLM, the higher level of chaotic mixing can be achieved by combining two general chaotic mixing mechanisms of splitting/recombination and chaotic advection by the successive arrangement of 'F'-shape mixing units in two layers. Mold inserts for the injection molding process of the SLM were fabricated by SU-8 photolithography and nickel electroplating. The SLM was realized by injection molding of COC (cyclic olefin copolymer) with the fabricated mold inserts and thermal bonding of two injection molded COC substrates. To compare the mixing performance, a T-type micromixer was also fabricated. Mixing performances of micromixers were experimentally characterized in terms of an average mixing color intensity of a pH indicator, phenolphthalein. Experimental results show that the SLM has much better mixing performance than the I-type micromixer and chaotic mixing was successfully achieved from the SLM over the wide range of Reynolds number (Re). The chaotic micromixer, SLM proposed in this study, could be easily integrated in Micro-Total-Analysis- System , Lab-on-a-Chip and so on.

마이크로믹서에의 응용을 위해 PMN-PT를 이용한 경계면과 수직방향 방사형 믹서 (Cross-sectional Radiation Type Mixer into the Boundary Surface using PMN-PT for Micromixing)

  • 마이크로믹서는 Bio-MEMS 혹은 μ-TAS 분야에서 중요한 역할을 수행한다. 혼합은 두 유체의 난류 상태와 상호확산에 의해 발생된다. 마이크로채널 내에서는 레이놀즈수가 작기 때문에 (Re << 2000) 난류가 발생되기 어려우므로 주로 상호확산에 의해서만 혼합된다. 따라서 두 유체가 적정하게 혼합되기 위해서는 긴 채널이 요구된다. 본 논문에서는 혼합에 소요되는 길이를 줄이기 위해서 PMN-PT에 의해 발생된 초음파에 의해 혼합되는 새로운 믹서를 제안하였다. 챔버 내에 발생된 초음파는 두 유체에 의해 생성된 경계면과 수직한 방향으로 방사된다. 사용된 두 유체는 상하방향으로 경계층을 이룬다. 혼합 상태는 NaOH와 페놀프탈렌의 반응에 따른 색상 변화론 관찰하여 측정하였다.
