  • The effect of periodic passing wake on the film-coolant flow issuing normally from a flat plate was investigated experimentally. The passing wake was generated by rotating thin circular bars. Depending on the rotational direction the test plate could be simulated as a pressure surface or a suction surface of a gas turbine blade. The phase-averaged velocity components were measured using an X-type hot-wire probe. The Reynolds number based on the free-stream velocity and injection hole diameter was 23, 500 and the velocity ratio which is the ratio of film coolant velocity to free-stream velocity was 0.5. The velocity-triangle induced by the wake was similar to that induced by the one generated at the blade trailing edge. The vertical velocity component induced by the passing wake, which approaches to the suction surface and moves away from the pressure surface, played a dominant role in the variation of the flow field. The variation in the phase-averaged velocity on the pressure surface was greater than on the suction surface, but the turbulence kinetic energy variation on the suction surface appeared larger than on the pressure surface.

  • In this paper, we designed 2303.15MHz Sequency synthesizer for the purpose of the phase noise prediction. For the modeling of phase noise Oersted in the designed system through inooducing the noise-modeling method suggested by Lascari we analyzied a variation of phase noise as according as that of offest frequency. Especially, for the third-order system of the PLL among some kinds of phase noise generated from VCO we analyzed the aspect of 1/f-noise appearing troubles in the low frequency band. Since it is difficult to analyze mathematically 1/f-noise in the third-order system of the PLL, introducing the concept of pseudo-damping factor has made an ease of the access of the 1/f-noise variance. we showed a numerical formula of 1/f-noise variance in the third-order system of the PLL which is compared with that of 1/f-noise variance in the second-order system of the PLL

  • In this paper, a phase difference of liveline insulator was measured and analyzed to estimate the contamination degree. The probability of accident rises according to the increase of the contamination. So the estimation of contamination degree is very important in design and maintenance of outdoor insulator. There are many methods to measure the contamination degree, but those methods use the spacial sense to measure the contamination degree. So, we have no information about the contamination from the liveline insulator, but there is a measurement of phase difference to estimate the contamination degree. The phase difference is varied with the increase of ESDD, so the contamination degree could be estimated by using those characteristics. The experiment is performed to analyze the interrelationship between contamination degree and phase difference. The variable condition is relative humidity that increases from 30 to 100 % in a chamber. We use the DAS program to measure and analyze the data. From the result, the variation of phase difference is different by the contamination degree, so we can confirm the possibility of estimating the contamination degree by the phase difference.

  • New phase shifters with higher phase shift values are presented using defected ground structures(DGSs). The varactor diodes are mounted on DGSs of termination loads to control the large phase variation of the DGS at resonance. Two types of phase shifters are implemented with a branch-line and a coupled line hybrid. The experimental results of the proposed phase shifters show $135\%$ and $221\%$ increases in maximum phase shills, respectively, compared with those of conventional ones.

  • In this paper, A Vector Modulator based a wideband analog phase shifter is realized with four P-I-N diode attenuators, an asymmetric coupled line coupler, a symmetric coupled line coupler, and a power combiner. Simple configuration to have advantages in cost, size, power, and the number of passive circuits is presented. The phase variation due to phase and amplitude error of a P-I-N diode attenuator is derived and used to optimize the overall circuit. The phase shifter shows a total phase shift of 360$^{\circ}$, a 8.2$^{\circ}$maximum phase error, and a 16${\pm}$2.5 dB insertion loss over the wide frequency range of 1 GHz to 3 GHz.

  • A received signal in mobile communication environments exhibits variation in both amplitude and phase due to the multipath fading. Therefore we analyzed the performance of DS/CDMA(Direct Sequence/code Division Multiple Access) DPSK(Differential Phase Shift Keying) system for the variations of PLL(Phase Locked Loop) gain with Tikhonov probability density function, assuming that the phase difference between transmitter and receiver signals is phase error. As a result, it is discovered that the performance of system could be improved by the control of PLL gain in compared with the DPSK system which does not consider the phase error. If the PLL gain is 1dB, the difference of two systems is 4.8dB and 0.4dB at 7dB. and if 30dB, it coincides. From above, it

  • Nanoindentater tests were conducted to conducted nanoindentation microhardness of the individual phase of ferrite and martensite of 680MPa dual-phase (DP) steel charged with hydrogen. Hydrogen was charged by electrochemical method with current densities of 150, $200mA/cm^2$ for charging times of 5, 10, 25, 50 hours, respectively. Nanoindenter test results showed that the nanoindentation microhardnesses of ferrite phase of DP steel were varied from min. 1.58 GPa to max. 2.82 GPa, and the nanoindentation microhardnesses of martensite phase varied from min. 3.19 GPa to max. 5.16 GPa with the variation of hydrogen charging conditions. It was observed that the variations of the nanoindention microhardnesses of martenstie phase were higher than those of ferrite phases. It was thought that martensite phase in the 680MPa DP steel was more sensitive than ferrite phase to hydrogen embrittlement.

  • Variations of dielectric and piezoelectric properties and associated phase transformation of <001> -oriented rhombohedral 0.92Pb (Zn$\sub$1/3/Nb$\sub$2/3/)O$_3$-0.08PbTiO$_3$ single crystals were investigated. The longitudinal strain level was found to abruptly increase at 15 kV/cm, corresponding to that where an induced phase appears within a multidomain matrix. Drastic decreases in the dielectric constant, transverse coupling, and transverse piezoelectric coefficient associated with the E-field induced phase were the result of increased crystal anisotropy in PZN-PT crystals. By contrast, the thickness coupling increased from 53 % at 0 kV/cm to 64 % at 45 kV/cm, also associated with this phase transition under the E-field. The measured dielectric and piezflelectric properties found for the induced phase state were nearly identical to those of <001> poled tetragonal (1-x)PZN-xPT (x>0.1) crystals. Based on these results, it is evident that the symmetry of induced phase is tetragonal.

  • To evaluate an effect of circadian variation on the xylene metabolizing enzyme activities, 50% m-xylene in olive oil(0.25 $m\ell$/100g body weight) was intraperitoneally administered to the rats every other day for 6 days both in the night; 24:00 and the day; 12:00. Then animals were sacrigiced at 8hr after last injection of m-xylene. Hepatic microsomal cytochrome p450 contents were more increased both in control and xylene treated rats of night phase than those of day phase. But the activity of hepatic alcohol dehydrogenase(ADH) in control of night phase showed the similar value with that in those of day phase and xylene treated rats of day phase showed an increasing tendency of hepatic ADH activity as those of night phase showing similar activity. Furthermore, control rats of night phase than those of day phase. And by xylene treatment, enzyme activities of rats of day phase were higher tendency in rats of control but those of night phase were somewhat inhibited. Besides, xylene-treated animals of night phase showed increasing tendency of urinary methylhippuric acid concentration compared with those of day phase. On the other hand, liver weight per body weight(%), hepatic lipid peroxide content and serum xanthine oxidase activity were higher in night phase. And the activities of hepatic oxygen free radical metabolizing enzymes such as xanthine oxidase, gluthathione S-transferase, and xylene-treated rats of night phase than those of day phase. In conclusion, it can be hypothesized on the basis of the results that the accumulation rate of m-xylene intermediate metabolite, i.e. m-methylbenzaldehyde in liver tissus may be higher in night phase than in day phase and it may be responsible for higher liver toxicity in bight phase than in day phase.

  • In this study, the distribution of the effective modulus was investigated statistically Plain weave structures were modeled with random stacking phase shift angles and the effective modulus was calculated by the unit cell analysis. The analysis results indicated that the effect of random phase shift angles was significant on the modulus distribution. As the number of layers increased, the coefficient of variation decreased and higher degree of homogeneity was attained.
