Thermomechanical deformation in porous generalized thermoelastic body with variable material properties

  • The two-dimensional deformation of a homogeneous, isotropic thermoelastic half-space with voids with variable modulus of elasticity and thermal conductivity subjected to thermomechanical boundary conditions has been investigated. The formulation is applied to the coupled theory(CT) as well as generalized theories: Lord and Shulman theory with one relaxation time(LS), Green and Lindsay theory with two relaxation times(GL) Chandrasekharaiah and Tzou theory with dual phase lag(C-T) of thermoelasticity. The Laplace and Fourier transforms techniques are used to solve the problem. As an application, concentrated/uniformly distributed mechanical or thermal sources have been considered to illustrate the utility of the approach. The integral transforms have been inverted by using a numerical inversion technique to obtain the components of displacement, stress, changes in volume fraction field and temperature distribution in the physical domain. The effect of dependence of modulus of elasticity on the components of stress, changes in volume fraction field and temperature distribution are illustrated graphically for a specific model. Different special cases are also deduced.

Controller design of variable structure system with an integral-augmented sliding surface for uncertain MIMO systems (적분 슬라이딩 면을 갖는 다변수 가변 구조 제어기 설계)

  • In this paper, an variable structure system with an integral-augmented sliding surface is designed for the improved robust control of a uncertain multi-input multi-output(MIMO) system subject to the persistent disturbances. To effectively remove the reaching phase problems, the integral augmented sliding surface is defined, then for its design, the eigenstructure assignment technique is introduced. To guarantee the designed performance againts the persistent disturbance, the stabilizing control for multi-input system is also designed. The stability of the global system and performance robustness are investigated. The example will be given for showing the usefulness of algorithm.

  • In this paper, a new design method of variable structure model following control system(VSMFCS) for robot manipulators is proposed. The proposed controller overcomed reaching phase problem by using function augmenting scheme to the sliding surface. Therefore, it can be guaranteed that the overall system always has a robust property against parameter variations and external disturbances. Furthermore, the proposed controller does not use the model state, .chi.$_{m}$, different from other previous works. Regardless of not using the model state, the model following error dynamics, virtual dynamics, is shown to be globally exponentially stable. The efficiency of the proposed method has been demonstrated by an example.e.

  • In this paper, we suggest a variable structure controller using the time-varying nonlinear sliding surface instead of the fixed sliding surface, which has been the robustness against parameter variations and extraneous disturbance during the reaching phase. As appling TS fuzzy algorithm to the regulation of the nonlinear sliding surface, the reaching time of the system trajectory is faster than the fixed method . This proposed scheme has better performance than the conventional method in reaching time parameter variation and extraneous disturbance. To demonstrate its performance, the proposed control algorithm is applied to a rotational inverted pendulum.

  • A recurrent artificial neural network (ANN) model is developed to simulate hydrocarbon recovery process at petroleum-contaminated site. The groundwater extraction rate, vacuum pressure, and saturation hydraulic conductivity are selected as the input variables, while the cumulative hydrocarbon recovery volume is considered as the output variable. The experimental data fer establishing the ANN model are from implementation of a multiphase flow model for dual phase remediation process under different input variable conditions. The complex nonlinear and dynamic relationship between input and output data sets are then identified through the developed ANN model. Reasonable agreements between modeling results and experimental data are observed, which reveals high effectiveness and efficiency of the neural network approach in modeling complex hydrocarbon recovery behavior.

  • In this paper, we present a DSP-based high dynamic performance torque control scheme of variable reluctance motors(VRM's) for DD(Direct Drive) robots via function inversion technique. The VRM with our controller behaves like DC motors, and hence developed torque tracks given torque command accurately with no torque ripples. Furthermore, our torque control algorithm ensures the production of maximum constant torque under maximum current limitation, minimizes power loss in each phase resistance, and takes magnetic saturation effect into account. Also, since our control algorithm is represented in the form of look-up table, it can be easily implemented with simple digital circuits and this tabular design method is computationally more accurate and simpler compared to the prior methods.

  • This paper deals with multiresolution analysis of wavelet transform for partial discharge(PD), both corona and surface discharge. Multiresolution analysis was used for performing discrete wavelet transform. PD signals was decomposed into "approximation" and "detail" components until 4 levels by using discrete wavelet analysis. In this paper, daubechies family is adopted for the research of the characteristics of PD signals. The results show that in corona discharge the segment 7, 8, 9, 10, 11 values of defined variable is increased with discharge process, so phase distribution is characterized by 210~330 ranges. In case surface discharge in expoxy insulator inserted, defined variable values is fairly symmetric discharge pattern because coupled both corona and dielectric bounded discharges. We can confirmly discriminate the type PD source. the type PD source.

  • There are two types of controller between railway and train. those are the Continuous Message Controller and the Intermittent Message Controller using for KHSR. The conventional Intermittent Message Controller board used a variable resister for setting the phase, but the variable resister affected some environmental facts, such as temperature, humidity, and vibration, etc. This study suggests how to solve the environmental problem described above. Using FPGA is quite profitable. It's easy to use and maintain, flexible with the New algorithm to fix up the problem.

PULSATIONAL CHARACTERISTICS OF $\delta$ SCUTI VARIABLE HR1170

  • New uvby photoelectric photometry was carried out for a $\delta$ Scuti variable, HR1170. By applying the Fourier method and the linear least square method, three frequencies were derived: $f_1=10.06134c/d$ ($P_1=0.^d0994$). $f_2=11.91754c/d$ ($P_2=0.^d0839$). $f_3=18.96776c/d$ ($P_3=0.^d0527$). From the observed pulsational constants and from the phase difference and amplitude ratios for color(b-y) and magnitude y. three different pulsation modes (n, l) of $f_1(0,0)$, $f_2(1,2)$, $f_3(3,2)$ are deduced, indicating the existence of nonradial mode in HR1170. Some physical parameters indicate that HR1170 is evolving at the stage of H-shell burning.
