  • To avoid the stability issues of LLCL filters, passive or active damping methods to eliminate the resonance phenomena are required. In this paper, system stability of a current control is analyzed when the active damping scheme based on the virtual resister is utilized in single-phase grid converter systems with LLCL input filters. The control performance according to the parameters of the virtual resistance is investigated. The validity of stability analysis was verified by simulation and experimental results.

  • In order to evaluate the stability of chatter vibration in turning precess, the micro-positioning cutting test with artificial tool vibration by piezoelectric actuation were carried out. In experiment, the phase lags between cutting forces and chip thickness variations were measured, and the dimensionless penetration-rate coefficient($\overline{K^*}$) which is the most important parameter on the stability for chatter vibration was calculated. The results show that$\overline{K^*}$ can be applicable to the stability criterion for regenerative chatter vibration.

  • Vehicle Stability Control (VSC) system prevents vehicle from spinning or drifting out mainly by braking intervention. Although a control threshold of conventional VSC is designed by vehicle characteristics and centered on average drivers, it can be a redundancy to expert drivers in critical driving conditions. In this study, a manual adaptation of VSC is investigated by changing the control threshold. A control threshold can be determined by phase plane analysis of side slip angle and angular velocity which is established with various vehicle speeds and steering angles. Since vehicle side slip angle is impossible to be obtained by commercially available sensors, a side slip angle is designed and evaluated with test results. By using the estimated value, phase plane analysis is applied to determine control threshold. To evaluate an effect of control threshold, we applied a 23-DOF vehicle nonlinear model with a vehicle planar motion model based sliding controller. Controller gains are tuned as the control threshold changed. A VSC with various control thresholds makes VSC more flexible with respect to individual driver characteristics.

  • This work presents a stability analysis of the synchronous state for one-way master-slave time distribution networks with single star topology. Using bifurcation theory, the dynamical behavior of second-order phase-locked loops employed to extract the synchronous state in each node is analyzed in function of the constitutive parameters. Two usual inputs, the step and the ramp phase perturbations, are supposed to appear in the master node and, in each case, the existence and the stability of the synchronous state are studied. For parameter combinations resulting in non-hyperbolic synchronous states the linear approximation does not provide any information, even about the local behavior of the system. In this case, the center manifold theorem permits the construction of an equivalent vector field representing the asymptotic behavior of the original system in a local neighborhood of these points. Thus, the local stability can be determined.

  • In this study, the anionic emulsified asphalt was prepared by dispersing asphalt particles evenly into water with combination of anionic and nonionic surfactants. Effects of NaOH and $CaCl_2$ on the phase stability of the emulsified asphalt were also investigated through zeta potential value and rheology behavior; the emulsified asphalt added with NaOH and $CaCl_2$ showed higher zeta potential value than that the asphalt with addition of only anionic and nonionic surfactants. In addition, with regard to shear thinning behaviors, it was found that pH of the emulsified anionic asphalt and $Ca^{2+}$, counter ion, affected the phase stability. SBR (styrene-butadiene-rubber) latex, EPD (water dispersed Epoxy), PU (polyurethane) and RI-10S, SBS (styrene-butadiene-styrene)-based property improvement additive, were used and studied to enhance the adhesion properties with the aggregates. RI-10S, however, was found to be only compatible with the anionic emulsified asphalt; the coating rate, adhesion and compression strength were increased with the RI-10S content.

  • This paper presents a control bandwidth extension method for inverters with a low carrier ratio. The bandwidth is extended at the price of decreasing the phase margin. Then the phase margin is compensated by introducing an extra leading angle into an inverse Park transformation. The model of the controller with the proposed method is established. The magnitude and phase characteristics are also analyzed. Then the influence on system stability when the leading angle is introduced is analyzed. The proposed method is applied to design an inverter controller with both a large bandwidth and a desired phase margin, and the experimental results verify that the controller performs well in the steady-state and in terms of transient response.

  • The phase behavior of binary blends of dimethylpolycarbonate-tetramethyl polycarbonate (DMPCTMPC) copolycarbonates and styrene-acrylonitrile (SAN) copolymers has been examined and then compared with that of DMPC/TMPC/SAN ternary blends having the same chemical components and compositions except that the DMPC and TMPC were present in the form of homopolymers. Both binary and ternary blends were miscible at certain blends compositions, and the miscible blends showed the LCST-type phase behavior or did not phase separated until thermal degradation temperature. The miscible region of binary blends is wider than that of the corresponding ternary blends. Furthermore, the phase-separation temperatures of miscible binary blends are higher than those of miscible ternary blends at the same chemical compositions. To explain the destabilization of polymer mixture with the increase of the number of component, interaction energies of binary pairs involved in these blends were calculated from the phase separation temperatures using lattice-fluid theory and then the phase stability conditions for the polymer mixture was analyzed with volume fluctuation thermodynamics.

  • In transmission system, reclosing scheme is very useful method to improve continuity of power supply and reliability of system. Especially, high speed reclosing which is used generally in transmission systems has a benefit improving transient stability. However, the reclosing can jeopardize the stability under the condition having high difference of voltage phase angle between both ends. Thus, this paper proposes optimal sequential reclosing scheme to improve transient stability due to reclosing operation. The optimal sequential reclosing is that each phase is closed sequentially considering transient energy. In this paper, 345kV and 154kV transmission system is modeled using EMTP (ElectroMagnetic Transient Program) to verify the performance and effectiveness of optimal sequential reclosing on transient stability. Also, Integral Square Error(ISE) method is used to assess the transient stability.
