Endocrine-disrupting chemicals (EDCs) are compounds that disturb hormonal homeostasis by binding to receptors. EDCs are metabolized through hepatic enzymes, causing altered transcriptional activities of hormone receptors, and thus necessitating the exploration of the potential endocrine-disrupting activities of EDC-derived metabolites. Accordingly, we have developed an integrative workflow for evaluating the post-metabolic activity of potential hazardous compounds. The system facilitates the identification of metabolites that exert hormonal disruption through the integrative application of an MS/MS similarity network and predictive biotransformation based on known hepatic enzymatic reactions. As proof-of-concept, the transcriptional activities of 13 chemicals were evaluated by applying the in vitro metabolic module (S9 fraction). Identified among the tested chemicals were three thyroid hormone receptor (THR) agonistic compounds that showed increased transcriptional activities after phase I+II reactions (T3, 309.1 ± 17.3%; DITPA, 30.7 ± 1.8%; GC-1, 160.6 ± 8.6% to the corresponding parents). The metabolic profiles of these three compounds showed common biotransformation patterns, particularly in the phase II reactions (glucuronide conjugation, sulfation, GSH conjugation, and amino acid conjugation). Data-dependent exploration based on molecular network analysis of T3 profiles revealed that lipids and lipid-like molecules were the most enriched biotransformants. The subsequent subnetwork analysis proposed 14 additional features, including T4 in addition to 9 metabolized compounds that were annotated by prediction system based on possible hepatic enzymatic reaction. The other 10 THR agonistic negative compounds showed unique biotransformation patterns according to structural commonality, which corresponded to previous in vivo studies. Our evaluation system demonstrated highly predictive and accurate performance in determining the potential thyroid-disrupting activity of EDC-derived metabolites and for proposing novel biotransformants.
Optical dispersion-managed link combined with optical phase conjugation for compensating of the distorted optical signals due to chromatic dispersion and nonlinear effects, which is required to implement long-haul wavelength division multiplexed system, is proposed and assessed in viewpoint of network topology flexibility. Optical phase conjugator capable to compensate for the distorted optical signal due to nonlinear effects is placed non-midway of total transmission distance. And, in dispersion-managed link, residual dispersion per span (RDPS) of each fiber spans in former half section and latter half section with respect to optical phase conjugator are different to each other. Simulation results show when the RDPS of each fiber sections in one half section makes it's own net residual dispersion slight different from another half section's net residual dispersion, the compensation effect in the proposed link configuration is more increased.

Self-pumped phase conjugation(SPPC) in BaTiO3 single crystal is experimentally investigated at a wavelength of 514.5nm from an Ar+ laser. The incident Gaussian beam enters the crystal as an extraordinary ray. The maximum SPPC reflectivity of 48% is obtained at incident angle 80 degree. the SPPC wave demonstrates good image reconstruction. The response time (r) of SPPC wave as a function of incident intensity is measured to be r=36$\times$I-0.79sec.
The optimal residual dispersion per span (RDPS) slope is induced through the analyses of the compensation characteristics of the wavelength division multiplexed (WDM) channels depending on RDPS slope in the optical links with a dispersion management (DM) and an optical phase conjugation. The simulation results show that the effective launch power of WDM is more increased and the performance difference between the channels is more decreased as RDPS slope is more increased. The simulation results also show that the effective net residual dispersion (NRD) range is more increased as RDPS slope is more increased, and consequently, it is more advantageous to use the large RDPS slope for implementing the flexible optical links.
The compensation characteristics of the distorted WDM channels compensated for by dispersion management (DM) and optical phase conjugation in the long-haul (50 fiber spans ${\times}80km$) transmission link with the randomly distributed single mode fiber (SMF) length and residual dispersion per spans (RDPS) are investigated as a function of the arrangement of SMF and dispersion compensating fiber (DCF) and the control position of net residual dispersion (NRD). It is confirmed that the compensation effect of the distorted WDM channels strongly depends on the arragement of SMF and DCF, rather than the control position of NRD.
The compensation characteristics of the distorted WDM channels compensated for by dispersion management (DM) and optical phase conjugation in the long-haul ($50\;fiber\;spans{\times}80km$) transmission link with the randomly distributed single mode fiber (SMF) length and residual dispersion per spans (RDPS) for implementing of the flexible link configuration are investigated. It is confirmed that the compensation effect in the link with the randomly distributed SMF length and RDPS is similar with that in the link with the uniform distribution, when the launch power of WDM channels are restricted within 0 dBm. This result means that the proposed link configuration is useful for designing and deploying the long-haul WDM transmission link.
Dispersion maps of antipodal symmetric type for improvement of compensation effect in dispersion managed link combined with optical phase conjugation, which can compensate for the distorted wavelength division multiplexed (WDM) signals due to chromatic dispersion and nonlinear Kerr effects of single-mode fiber, were proposed. It was confirmed that the proposed all of antipodal symmetric dispersion maps was more effective to compensate for the distorted WDM channels than the conventional link of uniform type dispersion map. Especially, dispersion maps formed like the inversion of alphabet S were more advantageous as the distorted WDM channels were compensated than dispersion maps formed like alphabet S. It was expected that the variety of optical network topology was more expanded by applying the proposed antipodal symmetric dispersion maps into transmission link.
In order to install ultra wide band and ultra long-haul transmission link based on standard single mode fiber, optical signal distortion due to chromatic dispersion and nonlinear Kerr effect must to be compensated. In this paper, optical link consisted of dispersion management and optical phase conjugation is proposed for compensation of the distorted wavelength division multiplexed (WDM) channels. Dispersion map profile in the proposed dispersion-managed link is configured by periodic repetitive shape, and optical phase conjugator is placed at various position including the midway of total transmission length. It is confirmed from simulation results that when the residual dispersion per span (RDPS) selected in the proposed dispersion-managed link to be large, the compensation of distorted WDM channels in the non-midway OPC system is more improved than the conventional dispersion-managed link.

Over the years, traditionally, six-switch three-phase inverters have been widely utilized for variable speed alternating current motor drives. Recently, some efforts have been made on the application of four-switch three phase inverter for uninterruptible power supply and variable speed drives. This is due to some advantages of the four-switch three phase inverter over the conventional six-switch three-phase inverters such as reduced price due to reduction in number of switches, reduced switching losses, reduced number of interface circuits to supply logic signals for the switches, simpler control algorithms to generate logic signals, less chances of destroying the switches due to lesser interaction among switches, and less real-time computational burden. However such as slow di/dt and speed limitation, are the inherent characteristics and main drawbacks of the four-switch configuration. Those problems can be overcome in conjugation with Voltage-doublers which has additional advantage, such as unity power factor correction.
Optical phase conjugation combining with dispersion management (DM) is promising technique to compensate for signal distortion due to chromatic dispersion and nonlinear Kerr effects of single mode fiber (SMF) in optical communication systems. However the fixed SMF length in every fiber spans usually used in the optical links with optical phase conjugator(OPC) and DM restricts the flexible link configuration. The goal of this paper is to investigate the possibility of the flexible configurations of the ultra-high and long-haul optical transmission systems by using the random distribution of SMF length of each fiber spans consisted of the optical link. It is confirmed that the excellent compensation for the distorted wavelength division multiplexing signals in the optical links with the randomly distribution is obtained in case of the shorter averaged SMF length over all fiber spans. It is also confirmed that the control method of net residual dispersion suitable to good compensation is postcompensation and the extent of net residual dispersion(NRD) is -10 ps/nm in DM optical link consisted of fiber spans with the randomly distributed SMF lengths.
