바이오디젤의 열적특성에 관한 연구 (A Study on Thermal Characteristics of Biodiesel)

  • 세계적으로 대기환경문제와 원유가격의 상승 그리고 비산유국의 안정적인 에너지공급의 대체에너지로서 부각된 바이오디젤은 현재까지 많은 연구가 진행되어 왔으나, 온도변화에 대한 열적거동에 관한 연구는 국내에서 수행되지 못했다. 따라서 본 연구에서는 일반디젤과 바이오디젤 그리고 이들 혼합물질의 인화점, 열분해 압력 그리고 열적 거동에 관한 연구를 수행하였으며, 그 결과 인화점과 열분해 압력변화에 있어서 바이오디젤은 일반디젤에 비해 인화점은 $182^{\circ}C$로 일반디젤의 $54^{\circ}C$ 보다 많이 높으며, 열분해압력도 바이오디젤의 경우 40.1bar, 일반 디젤의 경우 29.8bar로 바이오디젤의 열적 안정성이 상당히 높은 것으로 나타났다.

  • Engine oil is an oil used for lubrication of various internal combustion engines. The main function is to reduce wear on moving parts; it also cleans, inhibits corrosion, improves sealing, and cools the engine by carrying heat away from moving parts. In engines, there are parts which move against each other. Otherwise, the friction wastes the useful power by converting the kinetic energy to heat. Those parts were worn away, which could lead to lower efficiency and degradation of the engine. It increases fuel consumption, decreases power output, and can induce the engine failure. This study was conducted to evaluate the relation between engine oil property changes and engine performance for the diesel engine. This test was performed by using 12L, 6 cylinder, heavy duty engines. Low SAPS 10W30 engine oil (two type engine oils) was used. Test procedure and method was in accordance with the modified CEC L-57-T97 (OM441LA) method. In this study, TAN, TBN, KV and metal components, engine power, blowby gas, A_F were presented to evaluate the relation with engine oil property changes and engine performance. TAN, TBN, KV and metal We found that the components were generally increased but engine performance did not change. This results mean that property changes did not affect on engine performance because those were not enough to affect engine performance.

바이오디젤 사용과 연료분사시기 변화에 따른 DI 디젤기관 성능 특성(II) (The Characteristics on the Engine Performance for Variation of Fuel Injection Timing in DI Diesel Engine Using Biodiesel(II))

  • Biodiesel is technically competitive with it and offers technical advantages over conventional petroleum diesel fuel. Biodiesel is an environment friendly alternative liquid fuel that can be used in any diesel engine without modification. In this study, (dP/dCA)max and heat release, emission characteristics with different fuel injection timings are compared between diesel fuel and biodiesel in the D.I. diesel engine with T/C. The engine was operated at five different fuel injection timings from BTDC 6deg to 14deg at 2deg intervals and with four different loads at engine speed of 1800rpm. The experiments in a test engine showed that ranges between low and high of (dP/dCA)max got narrower, as the engine load increased, BD blend rate increased, and fuel injection timing was delayed. Cumulative heat release increased with the advanced fuel injection timing. NOX emissions decreased with the delays of fuel injection timing.

A Study on the Usability of Biodiesel Fuel Derived from Rice Bran Oil as an Alternative Fuel for IDI Diesel Engine

  • The world is faced with a problem of air pollution due to the exhaust emissions from automobile. Recently, lots of researchers have been attracted to develope various alternative fuels and to use renewable fuels as a solution of these problems. There are many alternative fuels studied in place of diesel fuel made from petroleum. Biodiesel fuel (BDF) is a domestically produced. renewable fuel that can be manufactured from vegetable oils, used vegetable oils, or animal fats. In this study, the usability of BDF, one of the oxygenated fuels as an alternative fuel for diesel engines was investigated in an IDI diesel engine. Emissions were characterized with a neat BDF and with a blend of BDF and conventional diesel fuel. Since the BDF includes oxygen of about 11 %, it could influence the combustion process strongly. Therefore, the use of BDF resulted in lower emissions of carbon monoxide and smoke emissions with some increase in emissions of oxides of nitrogen. It is concluded that BDF can be utilized effectively as a renewable fuel for IDI diesel engines.

  • Due to the development of the petroleum refining technology and continuously increased demand from markets, a quantity of gasoline and diesel oil produced from a restricted quantity of crude oil has been increasing, and residual fuel to be used at marine diesel engines has been gradually becoming low quality. As a result, it was recently reported that trouble oils which cause abnormal combustion such as knocking with extreme noise and misfire from internal combustion engines were increasing throughout the world. In this study, an author investigated ignitability and combustion quality by using combustion analyzer with constant volume(FCA, Fuel Combustion Analyzer) and middle speed diesel engine about MDO(Marine Diesel Oil), HFO(Heavy Fuel Oil), LCO(Light Cycle Oil) and Blend-HFO which was blended LCO of 1000 liters with HFO of 600 liters. Moreover, for betterment of ignitability and combustion quality of injected fuels, multi-injection experiment was carried out in the diesel engine using Blend-HFO. Total petroleum hydrocarbon에 의한 작물의 발아 및 유근생장 저해 (Germination Rate and Radicle Growth Inhibition in Crops by Total Petroleum Hydrocarbons (TPH))

  • BACKGROUND: Total petroleum hydrocarbons (TPH), which are main materials of soil contamination by oil, are a term used for any mixture of hydrocarbons. Korea Ministry of Environment established the maximum permissible level of TPH in farmland by 500 mg/kg, and reported that the TPH level of soil in 266 installation such as gas station, transport company, and military unit ranged from 1,356 to 55,117 mg/kg and were much higher than the maximum permissible level in 2011. METHODS AND RESULTS: To determine the effect of TPH on crops, we investigated the effect of gasoline, kerosene, and diesel on the germination and radicle growth of mainly consumed crops. The germination rates of control in investigated all crops ranged from 80.0-100%. The germination and radicle growth in majority of investigated crops were not inhibited even at 2,500 mg/L. However, germination in onion, leek, and green perilla and radicle growth in leek, rape, tomato, and green perilla were significantly inhibited by increasing concentrations of gasoline, kerosene and diesel treatment. Germination and radicle growth inhibition of green perilla by kerosene and diesel were the highest, the percent inhibition at the 500 mg/L were 100 and 98.6%, 100 and 88.2%, respectively. 50% inhibition of germination in green perilla by kerosene and diesel were 39.96 and 29.87 mg/L, and 50% inhibition of radicle growth were 52.76 and 177.96 mg/L, respectively. Conclusion(s): These results suggest the possibility that the maximum permissible level of TPH might to be established general level with exception by crops.

마이크로파를 이용한 바이오디젤 전환 기술 동향 분석 (A Review of Microwave-assisted Technology for Biodiesel Production)

  • Biodiesel is renewable, eco-friendly, clean burning diesel replacement that is consisted of short chain alkyl ester. Biodiesel is derived from the transesterification of vegetables oils or animal fats with alcohol. The process has some technical problems that must be resolved to reduce the high operation cost. Eco-friendly physical technologies by using microwave have successfully improved the transesterification for biodiesel production. This paper attempts to extensively review microwave-assisted technology for biodiesel production. Additionally, different types of catalyst for biodiesel production have been summarized. It is concluded that the microwave-assisted technique improves the reaction rate significantly in comparison with conventional methods. Therefore it can be a suitable method of reducing the reaction time and can also decreases the cost of biodiesel production.

연료 물성 변화가 자동차 주요부품 및 배출가스에 미치는 영향 연구 (Study on effect of fuel property change on vehicle important parts and exhaust gas)

  • 산업이 발전함에 따라 전 세계적으로 환경오염에 대한 문제가 대두되고 있으며, 자동차 배출가스 규제도 점점 강화되고 있다. 하지만, 배출가스는 단순한 자동차만의 문제가 아닌 연료물성성분에 따른 영향도 받는 것으로 알려져 있으며, 특히, 디젤엔진의 경우 CRDI 엔진이 개발 및 상용화되면서 고성능 엔진은 고성능 연료를 필요로 하고, 그 중 대표적인 것이 연료의 윤활성으로 밝혀진바, 이에 본 연구에서는 연료물성변화가 자동차 주요부품 및 배출가스에 미치는 영향을 확인하고자 하였다. 윤활성이 취약한 연료($651{\mu}m$/품질기준 $400{\mu}m$이하)를 차량에 사용하여 고압펌프 및 인젝터, 매연저감장치 등의 파손이 발생하며, 매연 및 배출가스, 연비가 악화되는 것을 확인하였다. 또한, 파손된 매연저감장치(DPF)를 확인한 결과 철분성분이 다량 검출되었으며 이는 연료에 철분성분이 많이 함유되어 있어, 배출가스에 영향을 미쳐 매연저감장치(DPF)의 처리능력을 초과한 입자상물질의 배출로 인한 파손으로 추정 및 확인하였다.

자동차용 가솔린과 디젤 연료의 증류특성에 관한 연구 (A Study on Distillation Property of Automotive Gasoline and Diesel Fuel)

  • Currently, there are active researches being conducted on a new combustion technology that can reduce emission quantity while enhancing vehicle performance as well as Improving fuel quality. In a gasoline engine that uses petroleum, high volatility makes it easy to jump spark ignition and prevent knocking phenomenon that occurs inside an engine. In a diesel engine that uses diesel fuel, high volatility reduces combustion residues and toxic gas and is therefore good for protecting the environment. Therefore, for fuel used in a vehicle, volatility is an important factor that influences not only engine performance but also environmental protection. This research conducted a distillation experiment using gasoline and diesel fuel for vehicles produced by domestic oil companies. The test was conducted in accordance with the method of distillation experiment described in KS M ISO3405. In addition, it used the result of analysis from the experiment to examine visual distillation characteristics of each fuel and developed a formula based on distillation temperature.

중형 디젤을 기초한 LPG엔진에서 배기가스온도 저감 연구 (A Study on Reduction of Exhaust Gas Temperature in Retrofitted LPG Fueled Engine Based Medium-Duty Diesel Engine)

  • The purpose of this study was to investigate reduction of exhaust gas temperature in LPG conversion engine from diesel. A conventional diesel engine was modified to a LPG(Liquified Petroleum Gas) engine that diesel fuel injection pump was replaced by the LPG fuel system. The research was peformed with measurement of exhaust gas temperature by varying spark ignition timing, air-fuel ratio, compression ratio, EGR ratio and different compositions of butane and propane. The major conclusion of this work were followed. (i) Exhaust gas temperature was decreased and power was increased with the advanced spark ignition timing. (ii) Exhaust gas temperature was decreased with lean and rich air-fuel ratio. (iii)Exhaust gas temperature was decreased and power was increased with the higher compression ratio. (iv) Engine power and exhaust temperature were not influenced by varied butane/propane fuel compositions. (v) Finally, one of the important parameters in reduction of exhaust gas temperature is spark ignition timing among the parameters in this study.
