Meaningful learning occurs through an active process of engaging with the content in a lively interaction between teacher and student. In this study, we explored teachers' learning, challenges, and changes as they learned and practiced responsive teaching (RT), a practice that supports students to put their ideas at the center of their lessons. As a result, we found that teachers initially embraced RT from different perspectives and struggled to implement it in ways they understood. We then explored RT more deeply by focusing on the case of a teacher who was teaching science herself, and found that her experience was both rewarding and confusing. However, by the end of the learning process, the teachers were able to define RT in their own ways, which strengthened their commitment to implementing RT in elementary science education. Based on this teacher learning process, it was suggested that teachers should be viewed as curriculum experts, that they should learn and explore collaboratively through a community of teachers, and that they should be researchers who continue to explore various practices in the field.

The purpose of this study was to investigate consumer education paradigm perceived by home economics teachers and its related factors, and to find out relationships among them. 205 questionnaires were used for analysis. Major findings were as follows. First, home economics teachers perceived that the critical consumer education perspective is more important, but in practice, they mostly used the traditional consumer education perspective. Second, according to their perception on the consumer education teaching method, the critical perspective was considered more significant and was more frequently used than the traditional perspective. However, the home economics teachers held an ambivalent perspective on the areas of purpose of consumer education, consumer education knowledge, consumer, and consumer society. Accordingly, they used both perspectives in practice for those areas. Finally, the teachers' degree in home economics education and the perspective on the home economics curriculum were found to be the two important factors that determine the teachers' consumer education paradigm.
This study sought to explain the process of conflict between early childhood teacher and parent (T-P conflict) and was guided by the following three questions: (a) how does a T-P conflict begin? (b) how does a T-P conflict develop over time? and (c) how does a T-P conflict end? One hundred cases were provided by private kindergarten teachers with experiences of T-P conflict. A qualitative grounded theory design was used for analysis of the data. Open coding and axial coding resulted in six categories: (a) "causes of conflict" (b) "conditional context of conflict" (c) "state of conflict" (d) "amplification of conflict" (e) "problem solving strategies of conflict", and (f) "cease of conflict". The stage of selective coding drew out three core categories: (a) "prelude with tuneless instruments" (b) "duet for discords and concords, and (c) "splendid finale vs. unplanned intermission". Additionally the study raised the doubts about current early childhood education policies based on neo-liberalism and their impacts on relationships between teachers and parents.
It arises that teachers' professional competence should be considered not only with a cognitive perspective but also with a situative perspective. In this study, we considered mathematics teacher noticing as situational professional competencies of a mathematics teacher, and explored how mathematics teachers noticing on children's development of reasoning about variability in a video club has changed with the situative perspective. Findings illustrate that the 'interpreting' component among the three components of noticing-attending, interpreting, and deciding how to respond-was critically decisive for the change of the participant teachers' noticing. We also discussed how the video club intervention(the framework of children's development of reasoning about variability) can support the development of teacher noticing as a professional competence. This study has implications on the design of a video club to improve mathematics teacher noticing.
Mathematics educators oriented to reform-based curricular have asserted that mathematics teachers should lead instructions where all students in their classrooms are able to participated. In this paper, some practices for them to implement it are discussed. Before explaining them, some discussions are made about students ability to construct knowledge. One of them is that teachers should know different learners construct different understandings because of their differences of prior knowledge and reasoning ability. Also, it was discussed that teachers consider classroom environments, assigning children's sitting and tasks in the light of learning. The reason to state them is that perspectives of them should be changed. Finally, "Teacher's careful listening to learners' responses", "Why do think in that way?, How do you know?, What is it meant?", "accepting ideas from all learners", "no supporting a particular idea", "utilizing waiting time", and "teacher's responses to learner's errors and mistakes" are discussed as practices for letting all learners be participated in the mathematics instruction.

In this study, we investigated pre-service science teachers' design for lessons using analogies in the perspectives of PCK. Three pre-service science teachers at a college of education in Seoul participated in this study. After the workshop of instructional analogies in science education, they practiced lessons using analogies in teaching practices. We observed their lessons and collected all of the teaching-learning materials. Semi-structured interviews were also conducted. The analyses of the results reveal that they dealt with mapping and unshared attribute only when using main analogies in their lessons and these processes were teacher-centered. There were some cases where they failed to adequately deal with analogies including concepts beyond the curriculum. When dealing with unshared attributes, they did not tend to accept students' opinions although they thought that unshared attributes are strongly related to misconceptions. Their understanding of assessment using analogies was not high. Assessment was relatively well done when they use student-centered analogies such as physical analogies or role-playing analogies. On the bases of the results, we suggest some educational implications for pre-service science teacher education.
The purpose of this study is to review the trends of international and domestic research in mathematics education for social justice and to present the meanings to the mathematics education in Korean mathematics education. For Korean mathematics educators and teachers, interest and research in mathematics education for social justice is still insufficient. For this study, the researcher analyzed the concerned research on mathematics education for social justice. According to the study, international research on social justice were started with Freire's critical mathematics education in the 1970s and has been actively conducted from various perspectives and has been applied to their mathematics lessons. However, domestic studies on mathematics education for social justice have recently been started. The implications of mathematics education for social justice is that it provides an opportunity for reflection on traditional mathematics lessons and enables integration and convergence with humanities perspective. This approach can also foster a positive attitude toward mathematics and deepen the view of mathematics and the world of teachers and students. The researcher proposed to include mathematics education for social justice in Korean mathematics curriculum and textbooks, support teachers' professionalism by teacher training programs, and continue to develop a more sophisticated education model through practical applications.

Korean universities have selected candidates through admission officer system since 2009. However, the universities now have to settle several problems that they faced at the first stage of the system. Therefore, this research, taking the admission screening data of J University as examples, aims to discuss how differently the weight of the screening factors appears depending on the subjects related to college entrance, such as parents, teachers, and admission officers. The research indicates that the subjects have different perspectives about entrance screening requisites. Parents and teachers more value the student record that is a countable indicator than the letter of self-recommendation that is a uncountable indicator. However, it also indicates that admission officers take attitude against parents and teachers.
It is one of the fundamental issues that students in teaching and learning process should take a proactive role in school mathematics. Inquiry or discovery learning in school mathematics is the specific method for students to participate in lessons on their own initiative, which is supported by many scholars in mathematics education. In this paper, we investigate pre-service teachers' perspectives of Inquiry or discovery learning by intensively analyzing information and guided orientation in teaching practice. From this, we find the direction of the pre-service teacher training program for carrying out pre-service teachers' role to help students to take a proactive role in school mathematics.
In this study, a practice-based teacher education program was developed and applied to improve the TPACK of pre-service chemistry teachers. Also the program effect and obstacles were confirmed by measuring the development of TPACK. The participants of this study were 20 pre-service chemistry teachers of 3rd grade and 2 pre-service chemistry teachers of 4th grade who took chemistry education courses at K University located in Chungcheongbuk Province. The developed teacher education program consisted of four stages: preparation, rehearsal, practice, and reflection. The feedbacks from researchers and colleagues pre-service teachers were provided in preparation, rehearsal, and reflection stages. As a result of the study, the program of this study did not show an educational effect in the "constructive learning activities" of preservice teachers, but it was found to have an educational effect in "problem solving". In other words, in "constructive learning activity", most pre-service teachers were at 0 level before and after the program. The pre-service teachers designed the class to unilaterally provide technology to simply use it as a tool to explain subject content or revise misconceptions, and learners can passively acquire knowledge. However, in the case of "problem solving", the pre-service teachers who were at level 0 before the educational program changed to level 1. Before the program, the pre-service teachers designed classes to solve problems by memory without using technology, but after the program they planned classes that provides opportunities to approach and solve various problems through the technology presented by the teacher. However, there were not many pre-service teachers corresponding to level 2, which constitutes voluntary learning in which learners use technology to solve various problems while selecting and variously manipulating technology. In addition, as obstacles to the TPACK development of pre-service chemistry teachers, there were external factors such as lack of classroom support environment for TPACK implementation, lack of time for education planning, and inadequate technology competency. And there were internal factors such as perspectives of traditional education and negative attitude toward technology. In particular, the proportion of pre-service teachers who preceived inappropriate technical competency as an external obstacles of TPACK development was high. Therefore, it was necessary to develop an education program corresponding to type 2 or type 3 that enables TPACK development through TK for pre-service teachers.
