Can Data-Driven Analysis Demonstrate the Plausibility of Traditional Medical Typology?

  • Objectives: Although medical typologies based on indigenous biopsychological ideas have been described, their integrity has been questioned due to its theory-driven nature in categorization. Therefore, studies on the Sasang typology, a temperament-based traditional Korean medicine, are needed to examine whether it is possible to classify types of specific biopsychological profiles using data-driven analysis. Methods: Psychological measures of the Eastern Sasang Personality Questionnaire (SPQ) and Western NEO-Personality Inventory (NEO-PI) along with physical measures and Sasang types were acquired from 2,049 participants. Latent groups based on the SPQ and NEO-PI subscale scores were extracted using Latent Profile Analysis. Their psychosomatic features were then compared with those of Sasang types. Results: Three SPQ-based latent groups showed distinctive psychological and physical features consistent with those of Sasang types. However, four NEOPI-based latent groups presented only psychological features. Furthermore, SPQ-High and SPQ-Low latent groups demonstrated similar psychosomatic profiles to those of So-Yang and So-Eum Sasang types, respectively. Conclusions: This study illustrates that biopsychological profiles of Sasang types are supported by psychosomatic features of latent groups based on SPQ of Eastern psychology, signifying that the categorization of Sasang typology have acceptable validity and reliability.

2009 개정 고등학교 과학 교과서에 제시된 창의·인성 활동 분석 (An Analysis of Creativity-Personality Activiies in High School Science Textbooks according to 2009 Revised Science Curriculum)

  • 본 연구는 2009 개정 과학과 교육과정을 기반으로 개발된 고등학교 과학 교과서에서 창의 인성 교육을 실현하고, 교육과정의 목표를 달성할 수 있는 창의 인성 활동들이 얼마나 반영되었는지를 분석하고자 하였다. 창의 인성 활동 유형을 분석한 결과, 탐구의 비중이 가장 많았고, 읽기, 글쓰기, 토론 등 다양한 활동을 할 수 있게 구성된 것으로 나타났다. 또한, 창의 인성 활동을 창의적 사고와 인성 요소로 분석한 결과, 창의적 사고와 인성 요소의 구성은 다양하지 않았다. 창의적 사고는 주로 발산적 사고를 하고 수렴적 사고와 연관적 사고 순으로 나타났으며 인성 요소는 배려가 가장 많았고, 정직성, 협동성과 책임감 순으로 나타났다. 따라서 다양하고 수준 높은 창의 인성을 함양할 수 있는 다양한 활동 개발이 필요하다. 의사 결정 요소로 창의 인성활동을 분석한 결과, 가치 준거를 설정하는 활동과 결과를 검토하는 과정이 전혀 나타나지 않았으며, 전체적으로 의사 결정 요소가 거의 없는 것을 볼 수 있다. 따라서 합리적인 의사 결정 능력 함양을 위해서 구체적인 의사 결정 요소들이 제공되어야 한다.

Big 5 성격요인에 따른 청소년 성격특성의 발달적 변화 (Developmental Changes of Adolescent's Big Five Personality Factors)

  • 본 연구는 중 고등학교 학생 2,260명을 대상으로 Big 5 성격요인에 따른 청소년 성격특성에 발달적 변화가 있는지 알아보고자 한다. 성별과 학년에 따라 성격 5요인의 발달적 변화에 차이를 보이는지 확인하였고, 더불어 신경증 하위요인을 추가적으로 분석함으로써 청소년기 문제행동 시기와 특성을 확인 하였다. 분석에는 일원배치변량분석(One-way ANOVA)을 사용하였으며 유의미한 차이가 난 경우 사후검증을 실시하였다. 연구 결과를 요약하면 다음과 같다. 첫째, 청소년의 성격 5요인 특성이 성별에 따라 차이가 있는 것으로 나타났다. 개방성, 성실성, 외향성은 여자가 남자보다 높게 나타났고, 신경증은 남자가 여자보다 높게 나타났다. 둘째, 청소년의 성격 5요인 특성 모두에서 학년에 따라 차이가 있는 것으로 나타났다. 셋째, 청소년기 성격특성에 대한 성별에 따른 학년별 발달적 경향성에서도 성별 간 다른 양상을 보이는 것으로 나타났다. 특히 성별과 학년에 따른 분석에서 남자는 중등 2학년, 여자는 고등 3학년에서 성격특성이 두드러질 것으로 나타났다. 그리고 신경증과 관련된 외현화 행동문제는 중등 1 2학년에서 내현화 행동문제는 고등 3학년에서 주로 발현될 것으로 나타났다. 따라서 본 연구에서는 현재 우리나라 청소년 성격특성의 발달적 변화를 확인할 수 있었으며, 또한 성별과 학년에 따라 상이한 정신건강문제가 발현 될 수 있는 것으로 나타났다.

The Effect of Personality Type on Human Performance Tool Compliance and General Recommendations for Enhancement of the its Practical Utilization

  • Objective: The purpose of this study is to investigate the effect of personality type on human performance tool compliance in nuclear power plants (NPPs) and to propose general recommendations for an enhancement of its practical utilization. Background: Various guidelines, regulating criteria, and recommendations have been developed to prevent human errors in NPPs. Despite these efforts, the accidents sometimes caused by human errors have steadily occurred, and therefore, various human performance tools have been adopted as countermeasures against human errors. The major and inevitable contributing factors among the many hazards to human errors might be the trait and personality, which are considered to be the inner world of humans. Thus, we try to investigate the utilization of human performance tools by considering the different types of operating crew personalities, and we suggested more practical recommendations to prevent human errors according to the personality. Method: We developed the Questionnaire using the Big 6 (HEXACO) models, which are human performance tools for workers in NPPs, and individual (condition) variables to investigate the effect of personality types on human performance tools. We slightly modified them to help the survey respondents understand them better. A survey was conducted for ordinary people over the age of 20. SPSS 22.0 was used to perform a correlation analysis and a hierarchical regression analysis to find the relationship between personality types and human performance tools. Results: The utilization of human performance tools shows significant differences statistically by personality. The correlation result reveals that the types of Honesty (H), Extraversion (X), Conscientiousness (C), and Openness to experience (O) show a higher utilization of human performance tools. In hierarchical regression results, human performance tools of task preview, questioning attitude, stopping when unsure, self-checking, effective communication, and place-keeping show a higher utilization with personality types. However, the Agreeableness (A) type did not show significant differences statistically with human performance tools. Conclusion: We tried to investigate the utilization of human performance tools by considering the different types of human personality and provide more practical recommendations to prevent human errors according to the personality. These results will be able to prevent human errors owing to the characteristics (advantages and disadvantages) of personality types. Application: This information can be utilized as guidelines for proactive recommendations according to the workers' personalities for more practical human performance tools to prevent human errors in an NPP.

과민성 대장증후군 내원환자의 MMPI 군집분석 (MMPI of Out-Patients with Irritable Bowel Syndrome)

  • In this cluster analysis of out-patients with irritable bowel syndrome (IBS) we described the psychological features and personality patterns of these patients. The Minnesota Multiphasic Personality Inventory (MMPI) was administered to 29 IBS patients who received treatment in the gastroenterology department of Ajou University Hospital to produce individual profiles for each patient. The 29 profiles with 13 standard scales, 15 content scales and 11 personality scales were subjected to cluster analysis resulting in three clusters of the original sample. Titles used to describe the psychological features and personality patterns seen in the three clusters included : (1) depression and anxiety : (2) somatization and denial of affect ; (3) anger overcontrol. Future studies on the treatment of IBS patients may well consider these features, as IBS patients have different psychological patterns.

모-자녀 성격조화유형에 따른 어머니 양육행동과 아동의 자아존중감 및 정서지능 (The Goodness of Fit between Mother′s and Child′s Personality, Maternal Childrearing Behaviors, and Children′s Self-esteem and Emotional Intelligence)

  • The patterns of mother-child personality match were investigated in the study. Further, the impact of goodness-of-fit between mother′s and child′s personality on maternal childrearing behaviors, child′s self-esteem, and child′s emotional intelligence was explored. The participants of this study were 1,060 fifth graders and their mothers from four different cities(Seoul. Suwon, Daejon, and Daegu). Six patterns of mother-child personality match were derived through cluster analysis and discriminant analysis. The most harmonious pattern in which maternal childrearing behavior was positive and child′s self-esteem and emotional intelligence were high appeared between mothers and children with high "stability" and "superiority" The least harmonious pattern was shown for the mothers with low "responsibility" and "reflectiveness" and high "dominance′and "sociability", and the children with low "stability" and "superiority".

성인남성의 의복색채선호와 색채관심에 관한 연구 -연령, 성격, 피부색을 중심으로- (A Study on Adult Men′s Color-Preference and Color Interest in Clothing -Focusing on Age, personality and Skin Color-)

  • The purpose of this study is to investigate the clothing interest, the preference for clothing color, in men of their 20s and 30's. The data were obtained from questionnaires completed by 546 men in their 20's and 30s. The SPSS package was used for data analysis which includs factor analysis, t-test, x²-test, Scheffe test, and Cronbach's α to measure the reliability. This study shows the following results. 1. The interest for clothing color was related to individual factors. (age, marriage status, personality). 2. men in their 20's and 30's preferred neutral color, blue, yellow. 3. Men in their 20s and 30s liked monochromatic match in clothing color. 4. The preference for clothing color were appeared to be influenced by the age, personality, skin color.

  • This study is aimed at finding out the self-perception and value of clothing they wear to today's businessmen who work in a fast-growing global network society and for developing a suitable image consulting program for businessmen. The purpose of this study is to categorize businessmen into personality types, and then analyzing purchase behaviors for clothing and image perception, self-image satisfaction among categorized groups. The participants of this study are 320 businessmen who are from 20's to 50's and working in Seoul. A total of 302 questionnaires were used for the survey of this study. The questionnaire is composed of 3 different parts as follows: 1) personality types, 2) purchase behaviors for clothing and image perception, 3) self-image satisfaction. The methods of this study are frequency analysis, descriptive analysis, factor analysis, variance analysis, cluster analysis, t-test and reliability analysis. In conclusion, an image consulting education program for businessmen has to be based on one's own personality type, current fashion style and image perception. Each person has to be provided a unique direction to increase his self satisfaction, which will result in improvements in both personal image satisfaction and social satisfaction. These changes will ultimately become the driving force of career life.

  • 미래사회는 창의성뿐만 아니라 인성까지 고루 갖춘 인재를 요구하고 있다. 본 연구는 초등학교 5, 6학년을 대상으로 정보과학 교과의 프로그래밍 교육에 있어 창의적 문제해결 모형인 CPS 모형과 도덕적 내러티브 교육 모형을 통합하여 창의성 인성 통합 프로그래밍 교육 모형을 개발하고 적용하였다. 그 결과, 창의성 향상뿐만 아니라 인성 함양에도 효과가 있었다. 이는 정보과학 교육에 있어 IT인재 육성을 위한 창의성 인성 통합 교육 모형과 교육 과정 등을 개발하는데 시사점을 제공할 수 있을 것이다.

에니어그램 성격유형에 따른 간호대학생의 정서지능, 방어기제와 대인돌봄행위 (The Emotional Intelligence, Defense Mechanism and Interpersonal Caring Behavior by Enneagram Personality Types in Nursing Students)

  • Purpose: This study was to identify the emotional intelligence, defense mechanism and interpersonal caring behavior by enneagram personality types in nursing students. Methods: A descriptive survey design was used and data were collected using questionnaires from a sample of 263 nursing students. The data were analyzed using by t-test, ANOVA, Pearson's correlation coefficient analysis with SPSS 20.0. Results: In the enneagram personality types, the nursing students was highly measured the type 9(Peacemaker). Emotional intelligence was significantly associated with financial status of parents, motivation of admission and satisfaction of nursing by enneagram characters. Hoping and sharing of interpersonal caring behaviors were significantly differentiated with the power type of enneagram personality. And active listening, comforting, participating of interpersonal caring behaviors were the most popular among the 9 types of personality. There was a positive correlation between emotional intelligence and interpersonal caring behavior. Conclusion: This study suggest that nursing students should be educated the interpersonal caring behavior program considering emotional intelligence and enneagram personality types.
