  • In these days, image mosaic is getting interest in the field of advertisement, tourism, game, medical imaging, and so on with the development of internet technology and the performance of personal computers. The main problem of mage mosaic is searching corresponding points correctly in the overlapped area between images. However, previous methods requires a lot of CPU times and data processing for finding corresponding points. And they need repeated recording with a revolution of 360 degree around objects or background. This paper presents a new image mosaic method which generates a panorama image from a video sequence recorded by a general video camera. Our method finds the corresponding points between two successive images by using a new direction oriented 3step block matching methods. Experimental results show that the suggested method is more efficient than the methods based on existing block matching algorithm, such as full search and Kstep search algorithm.

  • The present study investigated the risk and prevalence of dysphagia as well as related factors among free-living elders. Subjects were 419 elderly men (116) and women (303) aged 65 years and older ($74.49{\pm}4.70y$) living in Seoul, Gyeonggi-do and Chungcheongbuk-do area in Korea. Data were collected by personal interviews using questionnaires and analyzed by descriptive statistics, t-test, and chi-square test. Prevalence of dysphagia was 53.50% among participants. Risk of dysphagia was significantly different according to age (P<0.001), use of dentures (P<0.05), and activities of daily living (P<0.05). Moreover, dysphagia risk group had significant food intake problems, including poor appetite, smaller portions to reach satiety, frequent meal skipping, as well as poor taste compared to the normal group, accompanied by high risk of weight loss as assessed by simplified nutritional appetite questionnaire (P<0.01). Taken together, risk of dysphagia was more prevalent in older people, affecting the majority of those living independently in the community. This could indicate an association with undernutrition due to factors affecting food intake.

  • Internet of Things technology is an intelligent service that connects all objects to the Internet and interacts with them. It is a technology that can be used in various fields, such as device management, process management, monitoring of restricted areas for industrial systems, as well as for navigation in military theaters of operation. However, because all devices are connected to the Internet, various attacks using security vulnerabilities can cause a variety of damage, such as economic loss, personal information leaks, and risks to life from vulnerability attacks against medical services or for military purposes. Therefore, in this paper, a mutual authentication method and a key-generation and update system are applied by applying S/Key technology based on a hash chain in the communications process. A mutual authentication method is studied, which can cope with various security threats. The proposed protocol can be applied to inter-peer security communications, and we confirm it is robust against replay attacks and man-in-the-middle attacks, providing data integrity against well-known attacks in the IoT environment.

  • Along with the growth of u-Healthcare, we propose a security enhancement based on network separation for CloudHIS with for handling healthcare information to cope with cyber attack. To protect against all security threats and to establish clear data security policies, we apply desktop computing servers to cloud computing services for CloudHIS. Use two PCs with a hypervisor architecture to apply physical network isolation and select the network using KVM switched controller. The other is a logical network separation using one PC with two OSs, but the network is divided through virtualization. Physical network separation is the physical connection of a PC to each network to block the access path from both the Internet and the business network. The proposed system is an independent desktop used to access an intranet or the Internet through server virtualization technology on a user's physical desktop computer. We can implement an adaptive solution to prevent hacking by configuring the CloudHIS, a cloud system that handles medical hospital information, through network separation for handling security enhancement.

  • Purpose: The purpose of this study was to develop a self-transcendence enhancement program and examine its effect on self-transcendence, spiritual well-being, and psychological well-being in elderly women who live alone. Methods: A self-transcendence enhancement program was developed through theory, literature review, and in-depth interviews. The theoretical framework came from the Psychoeducational Approach to Transcendence and Health intervention model based on Reed's middle-range theory of self-transcendence. The program consisted of multiple modalities in a structured, theory-based program lasting for eight weekly sessions. Using a single-group pretest-posttest design, the program was tested on a group of 40 elderly women aged 75 to 84 years living alone in Daejeon, Korea. Participants completed self-reported study questionnaires before and after the program at the elderly welfare center. Data were analyzed using SPSS version 24.0, with significance level set at .05. Paired t-test was used to compare mean differences before and after the program. Results: The mean age of the study participants was 79.1 years. After completing the program, the participants showed higher levels of self-transcendence (t=8.78, p<.001), overall spiritual well-being (t=8.30, p=.002), religious spiritual well-being (t=1.79, p=.040), existential spiritual well-being (t=6.75, p=.002), and positive affect (t=3.77, p=.001) than they did before the program. They also reported lower levels of depression (t=-7.59, p<.001) and negative affect (t=-6.15, p<.001). Conclusion: The self-transcendence enhancement program developed in this study may be effective for improving the level of self-transcendence in elderly women living alone and helping them to attain spiritual and psychological well-being.

  • Background: The concept of high-impact chronic pain (HICP) has been proposed for patients with chronic pain who have significant limitations in work, social life, and personal care. Recognition of HICP and being able to distinguish patients with HICP from other chronic pain patients who do not have life interference allows the necessary measures to be taken in order to restore the physical and emotional functioning of the affected persons. The aim was to reveal the risk factors and predictors associated with HICP. Methods: Patients with chronic pain without life interference (grade 1 and 2) and patients with HICP were compared. Significant data were evaluated with regression analysis to reveal the associated risk factors. Receiving operating characteristic (ROC) analysis was used to evaluate predictors and present cutoff scores. Results: One thousand and six patients completed the study. From pain related cognitive processes, fear of pain (odds ratio [OR], 0.92; 95% confidence interval [CI], 0.87-0.98; P = 0.007) and helplessness (OR, 1.06; 95% CI, 1.01-1.12; P = 0.018) were found to be risk factors associated with HICP. Predictors of HICP were evaluated by ROC analysis. The highest discrimination value was found for pain intensity (cut-off score > 6.5; 83.8% sensitive; 68.7% specific; area under the curve = 0.823; P < 0.001). Conclusions: This is the first study in our geography to evaluate HICP with measurement tools that evaluate all dimensions of pain. Moreover, it is the first study in the literature to evaluate predictors and cut-off scores using ROC analysis for HICP.

  • Purpose : The purpose of this study was to investigate the effects of physical activity on impaired fasting glucose in adults aged 20 years or older. Methods : This study utilized raw data from the 8th National Health and Nutrition Examination survey (2019~2021). The subjects of this study were 5,344 adults aged 20 years or older who were confirmed to be free of diabetes. The control variables in this study model are health behavior characteristics (subjective health status, smoking, drinking), anthropometric characteristics (body mass index), and personal background characteristics (gender, age, income level, education level, marital status). As for the analysis method, the degree of physical activity was made into a dummy variable, and a probit model was used. Results : As a result of this study, compared to quartile 1 of the relative grip strength value obtained by dividing the grip strength by the body mass index (body mass index, kg, m2), fasting blood glucose levels were significantly higher in quartile 2 (.05, p<.01), quartile 3 (.04, p<.01), and quartile 4 (.04, p<.01). It was found that the probability of belonging to the normal category was higher than that of impaired fasting glucose. In addition, in the group of adults aged 20 or older who had a lot of aerobic and anaerobic physical activity, fasting blood sugar was more likely to be in the normal category. Conclusion : Based on the results of this study, it was suggested that diabetes should be managed through physical activity in the pre-diabetic stage, as prevention is important as well as treatment. From a practical point of view, muscle strength, such as grip strength, can be identified as a reliable indicator for identifying impaired fasting glucose.
