대기 중 휘발성유기오염물질의 환경, 개인 및 인체 노출의 상관성 연구 (A Correlation Study between the Environmental, Personal Exposures and Biomarkers for Volatile Organic Compounds)

  • Volatile organic compounds (VOCs) are an important public health problem throughout the world. Many important questions remain to be addressed in assessing exposure to these compounds. Because they are ubiquitous and highly volatile, special techniques must be applied in the analytical determination of VOCs. Personal exposure measurements are needed to evaluate the relationship between microenvironmental concentrations and actual exposures. It is also important to investigate exposure frequency, duration, and intensity, as well as personal exposure characteristics. In addition to air monitoring, biological monitoring may contribute significantly to risk assessment by allowing estimation of absorbed doses, rather than just the external exposure concentrations, which are evaluated by environmental and personal monitoring. This study was conducted to establish the analytic procedure of VOCs in air, blood, urine and exhaled breath and to evaluate the relationships among these environmental media. The subjects of this study were selected because they are occupationally exposed to high levels of VOCs. Environmental, personal, blood, urine and exhalation samples were collected. Purge & trap, thermal desorber, gas chromatography and mass selective detector were used to analyze the collected samples. Analytical procedures were validated with the“break through test”, 'quot;recovery test for storage and transportation”,“method detection limit test”and“inter-laboratory QA/QC study”. Assessment of halogenated compounds indicted that they were significantly correlated to each other (p value < 0.01). In a similar manner, aromatic compounds were also correlated, except in urine sample. Linear regression was used to evaluate the relationships between personal exposures and environmental concentrations. These relationships for aromatic and halogenated are as follows: Halogen $s_{personal}$ = 3.875+0.068Halogen $s_{environmet}$, ($R^2$= .930) Aromatic $s_{personal}$ = 34217.757-31.266Aromatic $s_{environmet}$, ($R^2$= .821) Multiple regression was used to evaluate the relationship between exposures and various exposure deter-minants including, gender, duration of employment, and smoking history. The results of the regression model-ins for halogens in blood and aromatics in urine are as follows: Halogen $s_{blood}$ = 8.181+0.246Halogen $s_{personal}$+3.975Gender ($R^2$= .925), Aromatic $s_{urine}$ = 249.565+0.135Aromatic $s_{personal}$ -5.651 D.S ($R^2$ = .735), In conclusion, we have established analytic procedures for VOC measurement in biological and environmental samples and have presented data demonstrating relationships between VOCs levels in biological media and environmental samples. 방사선 개인피폭선량계를 이용한 피폭선량 측정 및 유용성 평가 (Evaluation of Usability and Radiation Dose Measurement Using Personal Radiation Exposure Dosimeter)

  • 선량계 유용성을 평가하기 위한 방법으로 방사선관계종사자의 피폭선량을 측정하여 개인피폭관리를 위한 선량계 선택의 기초 자료를 제시하고자 하였다. 2012년 1년간 방사선사 30명을 대상으로 하였으며 개인피폭 누적선량을 측정하여 열형광선량계, 형광유리선량계, 광자극발광선량계의 성능을 조사하였다. 연구방법으로는 DAP와 ion-chamber를 이용하여 세종류 개인피폭선량계의 선량측정값을 비교 분석하였으며 의료기관별, 검사업무별, 분기별 방사선관계종사자의 피폭누적선량을 확인하였다. 결과적으로 직접 X선조사를 통한 개인피폭선량계의 선량값과 ion-chamber의 절대값에서 광자극발광선량계가 열형광선량계나 형광유리선량계에 비해 더 유사한 선량값을 나타내 측정 능력면에서 더 우수한 결과를 나타냈다. 또한 방사선발생구역에서 방사선관계종사자의 피폭선량이 광자극발광선량계에서 보다 높게 나타났다.

PC를 이용한 TLD 판독장치의 제작과 특성조사 (Construction of the TLD Readout System Using the Personal Computer and Its Characteristics)

  • 방사선 선량판독과 함께 열형광 현상의 연구가 가능한 다목적 TLD 판독장치를 제작하고 그 특성을 조사하였다. TLD에서 방출되는 열형광은 광전증배관과 전류-주파수 변환장치로 측정하였으며, 백금 열판을 사용하여 TLD를 가열하고 가온율을 선형적으로 변화시켰다. 개인용 컴퓨터와 interface board를 이용하여 전 장치를 제어하고 glow 곡선을 측정하였으며, 제어 소프트웨어로 자동이득조절이 가능하게 하였다. 제작한 TLD 판독장치는 선형적인 선량판독이 가능하였고 검출하한은 약 $10\;{\mu}Gy$였다.

Calculation of X-ray spectra characteristics and kerma to personal dose equivalent Hp(10) conversion coefficients: Experimental approach and Monte Carlo modeling

  • This work aims to establish some X-ray qualities recommended by the International Standard Organization (ISO) using the half-value layer (HVL) and Hp(10) dosimetry approaches. The HVL values of the following qualities N-60, N-80, N-100, N-150 and N-250 were determined using various attenuation layers. The obtained results were compared to those of reference X-ray beam qualities and a good agreement was found (difference less than 5% for all qualities). The GAMOS (Geant4-based Architecture for Medicine-Oriented Simulations) radiation transport Monte Carlo toolkit was employed to simulate the production of X-ray spectra. The characteristics HVLs, mean energy and the spectral resolution of simulated spectra have been calculated and turned out to be conform to the ISO reference ones (difference less than the limit allowed by ISO). Furthermore, the conversion coefficients from air kerma to personal dose equivalent for simulated and measured spectra were fairly similar (the maximum difference less than 4.2%).

  • With the advent of inexpensive computing power over the past two decades, applications of Monte Carlo radiation transport techniques have proliferated dramatically. At Los Alamos, the Monte Carlo codes MCNP5 and MCNPX are used routinely on personal computer platforms for radiation shielding analysis and dosimetry calculations. These codes feature a rich palette of variance reduction (VR) techniques. The motivation of VR is to exchange user efficiency for computational efficiency. It has been said that a few hours of user time often reduces computational time by several orders of magnitude. Unfortunately, user time can stretch into the many hours as most VR techniques require significant user experience and intervention for proper optimization. It is the purpose of this paper to outline VR strategies, tested in practice, optimized for several common radiation shielding tasks, with the hope of reducing user setup time for similar problems. A strategy is defined in this context to mean a collection of MCNP radiation transport physics options and VR techniques that work synergistically to optimize a particular shielding task. Examples are offered in the areas of source definition, skyshine, streaming, and transmission.

PCS 대역용 안테나 내장형 단말기의 성능 분석 (Performance Analysis of Mobile Station with Built-in Antenna for PCS Band)

  • In this paper, we carried out performance analysis of mobile station with built-in antenna for PCS(Personal Communication System) band. The radiation patterns for antenna and mobile phone were simulated by using 3D simulation program, HFSS(High Frequency Structure Simulator) and SEMCAD(Simulation Platform for Electromagnetic Compatibility Antenna Design Dosimetry). We observed radiation pattern variation according to installation of LED(Light Emitting Diode) circuit and ground pattern. The radiation pattern of prototype mobile phone was measured, and the radio sensitivity was measured by using Agilent E5515C and chamber. The measured maximum antenna gain at 1.87GHz was 0.21dBi. The measured radio sensitivity of prototype mobile phone shows proper performances comparable to other models with external antennas.

고에너지 전자선의 흡수선량 측정에 있어서 TLD의 유용성 (Measurement of Absorbed Dose for High Energy Electron using $CaSO_4:Tm$ - PTFE TLD)

  • In this study, the highly sensitive $CaSO_4:Tm$-PTFE TLDs has been fabricated for the purpose of measurement of high energy electron. $CaSO_4:Tm$ phosphor powder was mixed with polytetrafluoroethylene(PTFE) powder and moulded in a disk type(diameter 8.5 mm. thickness $90\;mg/cm^2$) by cold pressing. The absorbed dose distribution and ranges for high energy electron were measured by using the $CaSO_4:Tm$-PTFE TLDs. The ranges determined were $R_{100}=14.5mm$, $R_{50}=24.1mm$ and $R_P=31.8mm$, respectively and the beam flatness, the variation of relative dose in 80% of the field size, was 4.5%. The fabricated $CaSO_4:Tm$-PTFE TLDs nay be utilized in radiation dosimetry for personal, absorbed dose and environmental monitoring.

Development of the Graphite-Moderated Neutron Calibration Fields Using 241Am-Be Sources in JAEA-FRS

  • Background: The moderated neutron calibration fields using $^{241}Am$-Be sources and a graphite moderator have been constructed at the Facility of Radiation Standard (FRS) in the Japan Atomic Energy Agency (JAEA). Materials and Methods: The neutron spectra of the fields were evaluated by the Monte-Carlo calculations and measurements using the Bonner Multi-sphere Spectrometer. Results and Discussion: The fields have continuous neutron spectra from several MeV to thermal neutron energy, with fluence-averaged energies of 0.84 MeV and 0.60 MeV. Reference values of fluence rates and ambient/personal dose equivalent rates were determined from neutron spectra by measurements. Conclusion: Currently, the fields are available for calibration or performance test of neutron measuring instruments.

한국원자력연구소 기준 광자 및 베타선장 측정의 국제상호비교 (Intercomparison of the KAERI Reference Photon and Beta Radiation Measurements)

  • 이 논문은 최근 한국원자력연구소(KAERI)와 미국 패시픽노스웨스트 국립연구소(일명, 바텔연구소, PNNL)이 개인선량계의 성능검사를 위한 미국 ANSI N13.11 기준에 근거하여 KAERI 방사선 측정/교정실험실에서 수행한 KAERI 기준 광자 및 베타 방사선장의 국제 상호비교 측정결과를 설명하고 있다. 두 기관이 각각 자국의 일차 표준에 소급성을 갖는 방사선 검출기와 방사선 측정장치를 사용하여 자유공기중에서 광자의 조사선량(율), 공기커마(율)와 베타선의 절대 흡수선량(율)을 측정한 결과, 광자선장에 대해서는 ${\pm}2.0%$을 베타선장에 대해서는${\pm}1.0%$의 오차범위 내에서 잘 일치하였다. 따라서 KAERI의 기준 광자 및 베타 방사선장은 국제표준에 잘 만족되고 있음이 입증되었으며 장차 방사선 도시메트리 연구개발의 국가 기술기반으로 활용될 수 있음이 확인되었다

개인선량계 성능의 국내 상호비교 (Domestic Intercomparison Study for the Performance of Personnel Dosimeters)

  • 한국원자력연구소에서는 국내 개인선량계 판독기관들의 선량판독평가기술의 정밀 정확도 향상을 위한 국내 상호비교시험을 실시하였다. 본 시험에 참가한 기관은 모두 7개 기관으로 총 9종의 선량계(TLD 6종, 필름배지 3종)가 참가하였다. 사용된 방사선장은 Cs-137 감마, Sr/Y-90 베타 및 ISO의 wide series X-선장중 4종등 6개의 방사선장 이었으며, 참가기관당 30개의 선량계를 제출하여 각 시험조사당 4개씩 PMMA팬톰위에서 같은 선량이 조사되었다. 조사선량의 범위는 하한 ${\sim}10mSv$ 이하였다. 참가기관은 판독선량을 ICRU가 정한 개인선량당량 Hp(10) 및 Hp(0.07)로 평가하였다. 시험 결과 Cs-137 및 Sr/Y-90의 경우 1개 기관을 제외한 모든 기관의 판독선량과 부여선량의 비가 ${\pm}25%$ 이내에서 잘 일치하고 있었으나 X-선장의 경우, 모든 판독기관의 선량평가 알고리즘이 ANSI N13.11의 X-선장에 기초하여 개발되었기 때문에 판독선량과 부여선량의 편중이 ${\pm}35%$를 초과하는 경우들이 발견되었다.
