Semiconductor-Type MEMS Gas Sensor for Real-Time Environmental Monitoring Applications

  • Low power consuming and highly responsive semiconductor-type microelectromechanical systems (MEMS) gas sensors are fabricated for real-time environmental monitoring applications. This subsystem is developed using a gas sensor module, a Bluetooth module, and a personal digital assistant (PDA) phone. The gas sensor module consists of a $NO_2$ or CO gas sensor and signal processing chips. The MEMS gas sensor is composed of a microheater, a sensing electrode, and sensing material. Metal oxide nanopowder is drop-coated onto a substrate using a microheater and integrated into the gas sensor module. The change in resistance of the metal oxide nanopowder from exposure to oxidizing or deoxidizing gases is utilized as the principle mechanism of this gas sensor operation. The variation detected in the gas sensor module is transferred to the PDA phone by way of the Bluetooth module.

  • 멀티미디어 기능과 더불어 인터넷과 컴퓨터를 이용한 학습은 교육의 큰 영역으로 자리 잡고 있다. 하지만 기존의 PC 환경에서는 학교와 가정 등 고정된 장소에서의 이용이라는 제약이 따른다. 이러한 제한점은 모바일 기기들의 보급 확대와 모바일 기기의 성능 향상으로 극복될 수 있다. 특히 PDA(Personal Digital Assistant)는 데이터를 축적하거나 멀티미디어 교육 자료를 이용하는 등 온라인 교육용 컨텐츠를 학습자에게 전달하고 효과적으로 커뮤니케이션 하는데 적합하다고 할 수 있겠다. 하지만 기존의 PC 기반 컨텐츠들은 PDA기반으로 재구축 되어야 사용이 가능한 실정이다. 이에 PDA의 장점인 휴대성, 저장성, 멀티미디어 이용, 인터넷 이용, PC와 동기화를 통한 데이터 공유 등을 이용할 수 있는 고등학교 영어 듣기 평가를 PDA에서 학습할 수 있도록 eMbedded Visual Tools을 이용해 Windows CE 3.0 기반 PDA에서 구현하였다.

  • 인터넷 사용이 보편화됨에 따라 컴퓨터뿐만 아니라, 휴대폰이나 PDA(Personal Digital Assistant)를 이용한 인터넷 사용이 증가하고 있다. 다양한 학습방법의 개발과 제공은 사용자에게 알맞은 학습형태를 선택할 수 있는 폭을 더 넓혀줄 것이다. 모바일 학습은 이러한 요구 사항에 적합하고 시대적으로 필요하다. Web과 함께 모바일 인터넷 환경을 이용한 교육 컨텐츠 제공에 대한 요구가 증가하고 있다. 따라서 본 논문에서는 이러한 인터넷 환경에서 모바일을 이용한 교육용 컨텐츠를 J2ME기반으로 구현하였다.

  • 최근들어 휴대용 미디어 플레이어(Portable Media Player)와, 노트북 컴퓨터, PDA(Personal Data Assistant)의 사용이 늘어나면서 얼마나 오랜 시간동안 휴대용 장치를 사용하는가에 대한 문제가 큰 이슈로 떠오르고 있다. 그에 대해 많은 연구가 이루어져 있으며, 현재도 활발히 연구가 진행되고 있다. 본 논문에서는 프로세스 상태, 배터리 상태 그리고 응용프로그램 종류로 이루어진 상황을 고려한 동적 전력관리 시스템에 대해서 제안하고 그에 따른 세부적인 모듈에 관한 설명과 실험 결과를 보여준다. 실험결과 제안한 시스템을 적용하지 않았을 경우와 비교하여 약 14%의 전력 손실 감소 효과를 볼 수 있었다.

  • In this paper, we propose query restructure method which realizes not only to present the result from database in Web page but also to adapt user's browsing environments. Recently, wireless PDA (Personal Digital Assistant) and portable phone and terminals equipped with Web browser become very popular. Various browsers would be required to create the HTML which adapt to the user's browsing environment. We propose an adaptive data presentation system which is an extension of SQL which creates HTML pages dynamically adapting to the size of screen. In our proposed method, the three basic rules for the layout conversion are provided and applying these rules, an efficient layout conversion technique optimized to user environment is proposed. Moreover, we propose a standard for converting layouts and a layout optimization for adaptive conversion of layouts.

  • In this paper we propose an efficient authentication and key agreement protocol which has been designed specifically for use with low powered computationally weak equipment such as Cellular phone and PDA(Personal Digital Assistant). Imple-menting the protocol based on the Rabin cryptosystem provides the efficiency requirements for mobile communications including minimum number of passes and low computational lead. The paper outlines the new protocol, examines it s various aspects, and compares them to those representative authentication and key agreement protocols.

  • 본 논문에서는 정보화 시대의 바쁜 현대인들에게 일상생활 속 필요한 정보들을 거울과 IOT 기술을 접목하여 인포그래픽(inforgraphics) 형태로 제공하는 개인용 스마트 미러를 제작하였다. 제공되는 정보는 날짜 및 시간, 일정, 날씨, 뉴스 속보, 실시간 버스 도착 정보, 실시간 지하철 도착 정보가 있으며 Google Assistant SDK를 활용하여 시각적 정보제공의 한계를 개선하였다.

  • Taipei Watershed Management Bureau (WRATB) is a government agency entitled for water resources protection at two major watersheds in order to provide drinking water for about four millions population in Taipei on a sustainable basis. At WRATB, there are two major public sewage treatment facilities which can convert sewage in each watershed into an acceptable state before they were discharged into rivers. More than 82% of household wastewater have been collected and treated by the two public sewage systems. However, households at remote area still need more effective sewage management prescriptions. The objective of this paper is to implement geographic information systems in order to provide more effective approaches that sewage management can be easier and cost effective. ArcIMS was implemented for Internet browsing and map server of those sewage facilities on personal computers, laptop computers. In the open field, ArcPAD was implemented with personal digital assistant (PDA) such that compact flash type's global positioning systems (GPS) and digital camera can be utilized with PDA. All sewage facilities digital files were convert into ArcMap format files. MapObjects and visual BASIC were used to create sewage application modules to meet every single technician personal flavor. ASP.NET was implemented for Internet database manipulations of all sewage databases. Mobile GIS was the key component of GIS applications in the open field for sewage management on a basis of house by house. Houses at remote area, which can not cover by the two public sewage systems, were managed by PDA and laptop computers with GPS and digital camera. Sewage management at Taipei Watershed Management Bureau is easier both in the open field and in the office. Integration of GPS, GIS, and PDA makes sewage management in the open field much easier. ArcIMS, MapObjects, ASP.NET and visual BASIC make sewage management can be done in the office and over Internet.

  • Self management of chronic asthma is of great importance, since the disease could lead the patient into an emergent situation. In the present study, we describe design and implementation of a personal digital assistant(PDA) based asthma management system for personal application including symptom and medication to prevent from the potential exacerbation of the disease. The software program was written by the Visual C++ tool in the mobile computing environment and Object Store was applied for data management. User friendly GUI environment was provided for the patient to input his/her daily condition and self treatment such as medication for successful management. The input screen design substituted for keyboard input to a mouse in order to easy to select an item and minimize the keyboard input. The implementation results of this system., Real-time data collection and process were possible and be able to have been carried effectively out a continuous symptom, a medication of asthma patients, risk management.
