2단계 증착법으로 제조된 Pb(Zr,Ti)$\textrm{O}_3$ 박막의 특성 (The Properties of Pb(Zr,Ti)$\textrm{O}_3$ Thin Films Fabricated by 2-Step Method)

  • 금속 타겟들을 이용한 반응성 스퍼터링법으로 $460~540^{\circ}C$범위에서 $Pt/Ti/SiO_2$/Si 기판위에 PZT 박막을 증착하였다. Perovskite상의 핵형성을 위해 Pb 휘발이 적은 저온($480^{\circ}C$)에서 짧은 시간 동안 PZT 박막을 증착한 후 Pb가 PBT 박막내에 과잉으로 함유되는 것을 억제하기 위하여 증착 온도를 증가시켜 박막을 증착하는 2단계 증착법을 사용한 결과 54$0^{\circ}C$의 고온에서도 perovskite 단일상과 화학양론비에 가까운 조성을 얻을 수 있었다. 2단계 증착법으로 제조된 PZT 박막은 우수한 전기적 특성을 나타내었으며 후속 RTA 처리로 더욱 특성을 향상시킬 수 있었는데 $17\mu$C/$\textrm{cm}^2$의 잔류분극, 45kv/cm의 coercive field, 그러고 -500kv/cm의 높은 전기장에서도 $10^{-4}$ A/$\textrm{cm}^2$의 양호한 누설전류 특성을 나타내었다.

  • As the single chamber SOFC(SC-SOFC) showed higher prospect on reducing the operation temperature as well as offering higher design flexibility of SOFCs, lots of concerns have been given to investigate the catalytic activity of perovskite-type oxide in mixed fuel and oxidant conditions. Hence we thoroughly investigated the catalytic property of various perovskite-type oxides such as $La_{0.8}Sr_{0.2}MnO_3(LSM),\;La_{0.6}Sr_{0.4}CoO_3(LSC),\;La_{0.6}Sr_{0.4}Co_{0.2}Fe_{0.8}O_3(LSCF),\;Sm_{0.5}Sr_{0.5}CoO_3(SSC),\;and\;Ba_{0.5}Sr_{0.5}Co_{0.8}Fe_{0.2}(BSCF)$ under the partial oxidation condition of methane which used to be given for SC-SOFC operation. In this study, powder form of each perovskite oxides whose surface areas were controlled to be equal, were investigated as functions of methane to oxygen ratios and reactor temperature. XRD, BET and SEM were employed to characterize the crystalline phase, surface area and microstructure of prepared powders before and after the catalytic oxidation. According to the gas phase analysis with flow-through type reactor and gas chromatography system, LSC, SSC, and LSCF showed higher catalytic activity at fairly lower temperature around $400^{\circ}C{\sim}450^{\circ}C$ whereas LSM and BSCF could be activated at much higher temperature above $600^{\circ}C$.

Hydrothermal synthesis of $PbTiO_3$ oxides with perovskite structure

  • The preparation of $PbTiO_3$ powder was carried out using the oxide starting material by hydrothermal method. The powder of a crystalline phase with perovskite structure was synthesized. The optimum conditions for the preparation of powder were as follows; hydrothermal solvent; 8M-KOH or 8M-NaOH, reaction temperature; 250~$270^{\circ}C$, run time; 10 h. The ,shape of synthesized powders were well developed crystalline faces with specific surface area of about 2.3 $\textrm m^2$/g in KOH solution and about 5.0 $\textrm m^2$/g in NaOH solution. The cell parameters of powder were a = 3.90$\AA$, c = 4.14 $\AA$ and cell volume was 57.30 $\AA^3$. The cell ratio (c/a) of powder was the same as the theoretical ratio with c/a = 1.06 and the phase transition temperature(Tc) of the powders was about $470^{\circ}C$.

  • Lead zirconate($PbZrO_3$, PZ) 박막의 광학적 성질을 조사하였다. 광학적 성질을 조사하기 위한 PZ 박막은 sol-gel 법으로 ITO glass 위에 제작되었다. 열처리온도 $T=700^{\circ}C$로 후열처리함에 의해 증착된 시료의 pyrochlore 상은 perovskite 상으로 변환되었다. 박막의 표면은 매우 평탄하였고, 투과율은 480~2000nm의 파장에서 60~80%였으며, 굴절률은 480~1000nm의 파장에 대하여 2.1~1.9 정도였다.

B-site Substitution Effects on the Piezoelectric Properties of Bi-based Lead-free Ceramics

  • B-site substitution with isovalent and donor impurities was compared in terms of the piezoelectric properties of Bi-based ABO3 perovskite ceramics. X-ray diffraction study revealed that both impurities bring about degradation in their ferroelectric properties as well as piezoelectric characteristics. However, there existed a difference between the isovalent and heterovalent impurities that influence a phase transformation of ferroelectric anisotropic-to-electrostrictive pseudocubic symmetry. Based upon analyses including the crystal, microstructure, dielectric, ferroelectric properties, we believed that A-site vacancies in the ABO3 ceramic significantly contribute to a ferroelectric-nonpolar phase transition, which give rise to lead to a giant strains. The present paper will discuss the origin of giant strains in Bi-based perovskite ceramics.

  • Ultrafine lead magnesium niobate $Pb(Mg_{1/3}Nb_{2/3}) O_3$ (PMN) powders have been successfully prepared via a micro-emulsion processing technique. By stepwise hydrolysis using aqueous as the precipitant, hydroxide precursor was obtained from nitrate solutions dispersed in the nanosized aqueous domains of a microemulsion consisting of cyclohexane, non-ionic surfactant (NP5+NP9) and an aueous phase. Upon calcination of the microemulsion-derived precursor at $800^{\circ}C$, PMN powders with 100% perovskite phase was obtained.

  • Since the reports of CMR(colossal magnetoresistance) effects in some single crystal R-P phase $La_{1+x}Sr_{2-x}Mn_2O_7$, considerable researches have been carried out to find optimum composition and to understand the role of dimensionality in the CMR mechanism of this system. In this study, layered perovskite $Ln_xCa_{1-x}MnO_{4}$ (x=0.5, Ln=Pr, Nd, Sm, Gd) phases were synthesized by solid state reaction and their structures were refined by Rietveld method. Electrical and magnetic properties were measured between room temperature and liquid helium temperature and compared with those of two dimensional $La_{1.4}Sr_{1.6}Mn_2O_7$ phase.

Structural, FTIR and ac conductivity studies of NaMeO3 (Me ≡ Nb, Ta) ceramics

  • Lead-free complex perovskite ceramics $NaMeO_3$ ($Me{\equiv}Nb$, Ta) were synthesized using conventional solid state reaction technique and characterized by structural, FTIR and electrical (dielectric and ac conductivity) studies. The crystal symmetry, space group and unit cell dimensions were determined from the experimental results using FullProf software. XRD analysis of the compound indicated the formation of single-phase orthorhombic structure with the space group Pmmm (47). Dielectric studies showed the diffuse phase transition at $394^{\circ}C$ for $NaNbO_3$ and $430^{\circ}C$ for $NaTaO_3$. Ac conductivity in both the compounds follows Jonscher's power law.

조성 변화의 영향에 따른 BSCT 후막의 구조적 특성과 초전 특성 (Influence of composition variation on structural and pyroelectrical properties of BSCT thick films)

  • (Ba,Sr,Ca)$TiO_3$ powders, which were prepared by sol-gel method using a solution of Ba-acetate, Sr-acetate and Ca-acetate and Ti iso-propoxide, were mixed with organic vehicle and the BSCT thick films were fabricated by the screen-printing techniques on high purity alumina substrates. The structural and dielectric properties were investigated for various $Dy_2O_3$ doping contents. As a result of thermal analysis, the exothermic peak was observed at around $670^{\circ}C$ due to the formation of the polycrystalline perovskite phase. All BSCT thick films, sintered at $1420^{\circ}C$ for 2h, showed the typical XRD patterns of perovskite polycrystalline structure and no pyrochlore phase was observed. Synthesis and Characterization of Intergrowth Type Perovskite Oxide NdSr2MnCrO7

  • A new Ruddlesden-Popper phase $NdSr_2MnCrO_7$ has been prepared by the standard ceramic method. The powder X-ray diffraction studies suggest that the phase crystallizes with tetragonal unit cell in the space group I4/mmm. The electrical transport properties show that the phase is an electrical insulator and the electrical conduction in the phase occurs by a 3D variable range hopping mechanism. The magnetic studies suggest that the ferromagnetic interactions are dominant.
