가스절연 개폐장치에서 유전율 구배를 갖는 고체 절연물의 형상 최적화 (Shape Optimization of a Permittivity Graded Solid Insulator in a Gas Insulated Switchgear)

  • A functionally graded material (FGM) spacer, which the distribution of dielectric permittivity inside an insulator changes spatially, can considerably reduce the electric field concentration around a high-voltage electrode and along the gas-insulator interface when compared to a conventional spacer with a uniform permittivity distribution. In this research, we propose the FGM spacer with an elliptical permittivity distribution instead of that with a distribution of dielectric permittivity varying along a radial direction only in order to improve efficiently the insulation capability. The optimal design of the elliptical FGM spacer configuration is performed by using the response surface methodology (RSM) combined with the steepest descent method (SDM).

  • Materials used at microwave are usually used as a dielectric with a manufacturing purpose of printed circuit boards, etc. Complex permittivity of them can be measured from attenuation constant or propagation constant of a transmission line using a microstrip line with bulk type. But as the technique recently which can manufacture to have complex permittivity and permeability demanded using nonferrous metals for powder-type grows up, we need sensors and methods which can measure characteristics of powder-type materials. So far measuring methods of permittivity and permeability with waveguide or coaxial cable are used but they have faults which have a complex measurement method and are difficult to simultaneously measure permittivity and permeability. In this paper, a simultaneous measuring method of permittivity and permeability with 2-port coaxial cable and a new proposed calculation. The proposed 2-port coaxial cable is designed to be easy to insert materials and to have a wideband. We measure permittivity and permeability of magnetic powder(Ni-Fe-Mo, Ni-Fe) which reveal its characteristic at $0.3{\sim}1.3GHz$ to identify the proposed sensor.

  • In this paper reconstructing the internal resistivity and relative permittivity distribution is discussed. The iterative reconstruction method based on Finite Element method and Newton method were used to reconstruct both of resistivity ind permittivity distribution. The Finite Element model of impedance distribution is built in complex field of resistivity and capacitive medium. The reconstruction results based on computer simulated data and experimental data are presented.

  • The material constants(the complex permeability and permittivity) of ferrite composite determine its microwave absorbing characteristics. Therefore, in order to improve the microwave absorbing characteristics, it is necessary to control the material constants of the ferrite composite. In this study, the method of improving microwave absorbing characteristics by control of permittivity of ferrite composite which has not satisfying matching condition in C-X band (4 GHz~12.4 GHz) was investigated. It was possible to control the permittivity by adjusting graphite loading ratio in the ferrite composite microwave absorber. It was also concluded that the control of permittivity of ferrite composite is effective method to improve the microwave absorbing characteristics.

  • This paper investigates the complex permittivity of foam materials using the rectangular waveguide. The transmission coefficients of materials inserted in the waveguide are measured with a network analyzer and calculated from the equivalent transmission line model. We use the trial and error method in the acquisition of the complex permittivity.

Electric double layers interactions under condition of variable dielectric permittivity

  • In this paper, a theoretical method has been developed for the electric double layer interaction under condition of the variable dielectric permittivity of water. Using Poisson-Boltzmann equation (PBE), for one plate and two plates having similar or dissimilar constant charge or constant potential, we have investigated the electric double layer potential, its gradient and the disjoining pressure as well as the effect of variation of dielectric permittivity on these parameters. It has been assumed that plates are separated by a specific distance and contain a liquid solution in between. It is shown that reduction of the dielectric permittivity near the interfaces results in compression of electric double layers and affects the potential and its gradient which leads to a decreased electrostatic repulsion. In addition, it is shown that variation of dielectric permittivity in the case of higher electrolyte concentration, leads to a greater change in potential distribution between two plates.

  • A new technique to reconstruct complex permittivity profiles of dielectric objects by using the moment-method solutions to the electric field integral equation iversely is presented here. Performing numerical calcualtions for several type of dielectric objects by employing the present scheme, it is demonstrated that this inverse technique provides the superresolution of the reconstructed permittivity profiles regardless of the location measured the scattered field, the size and shape of dielelctric objects and the permittivity profile.

  • In this paper, to anlayze electromagnetic distribution, measure the variation of relative permittivity of Glass-epoxy substrate for Computer-main-board and Tenon substrate for handphone or PCS in the frequency range $100[MHz]{\sim}1[GHz]$, in room temperature. To measure relative permittivity, suggested the Microstripline method. As the frequency increase, the variation of relative permittivity of Glass-epoxy is bigger than Tefoln's. And simulate the electromagnetic distribution on the PCBs in the infinite region applying the open boundary condition with these results by Finite Element Method.

  • 평행판 도파관에 진행하는 TEM mode를 이용한 평판형 유전체의 유전율을 측정하는 방식을 소개한다. 이는 양 옆이 열린 구조적 장점으로 실험 절차 및 측정 샘플의 가공이 매우 간편한 장점이 있다. 샘플의 유무에 따라 변화하는 도파관 내에서 전파하는 TEM mode의 위상 속도의 차이를 전자기적으로 해석하였고 이를 이용하여 유전체판의 유전율을 측정하였으며, 샘플에 대한 측정 결과는 기존에 알려진 유전율과 일치하였다.

Simulation and Modeling of Polyethylene/Clay Nanocomposite for Dielectric Application

  • In this paper, the simulation and modeling of a polyethylene/clay nanocomposite were undertaken to predict the nanocomposite's dielectric behavior and to help design a nanocomposite material with optimum electrical properties for electrotechnical or electronic applications. A 3-D simulation model using the finite elements method was employed in order to study the effective permittivity and electric field distribution of two-phase nanocomposite materials for ordered and random distributions of inclusions in a low-loss host matrix such as polyethylene. The influence of the dispersion of reinforcing particles, and of the permittivity and radius of the inclusions, was analysed. The simulation results were compared with alternative, known theoretical solutions obtained from classical models, and were found to be in good agreement. The numerical results also indicate that for fixed volume fractions of nanoparticles the effective permittivity of the mixture, for ordered and random distributions, does not vary with the degree of dispersion. The variation of the effective permittivity with the particle radius is shown, using numerical data, to agree with the analytical modules.
