  • Waterproofing materials should be expected to last the life of the structure. An approximate life cycle cost should be to compare different materials based on initial and periodic repair / maintenance costs. Waterproofing applicators like materials that are easy to set up and clean up. The designer should choose a material that can be applied in almost all conditions. Design Professionals should specify independent inspection on critical jobs or in all cases where the budget permits. The basic causes of defection occurred during construction should be minimized.

  • Recently, organic-inorganic nanocomposites have attracted great interest from researchers since they frequently exhibit unexpected hybrid properties synergistically derived from two components[1]. The addition of highly dispersed inorganic nano-sized fillers permits improvement of certain properties of polymers as compared with conventional particulate composites; increase of modulus and strength, improved barrier properties, increase in solvent and heat resistance, and good optical properties[2]. • Recently we extended the fuzzy model for rule based systems incorporating an importance factor for each rule. The model permits for both unrestricted as well as non-negative importance factors. We use this extended model to design a fuzzy rule based classifier system which uses both the firing strength of the rule and the importance factor to decide the class label. The effectiveness of the scheme is established using several data sets.

  • Increasing demands on precision machining of 3D free-form surface have necessitated the tool smoothly varying feedrates. This paper presents on of algorithm for adaptive feedrate on NURBS curve. Since the algorithm for calculating variable feedrate depends on the curvature of curve, it permits to get constant material tool can be protected un terms of tool chipping vibration, etc.

  • A partial ordering is developed among weakly positive quadrant dependent (WPQD) bivariate random vectors. This permits us to measure the degree of WPQD-ness and to compare pairs of WPQD random vectors. Some properties and closures under certain statistical operations are derived. An application is made to measures of dependence such as Kendall's $\tau$ and Spearman's $\rho$.

  • Where temperature permits plant growth, the existence of plants is controlled chiefly by the water availability. Without water, plants cannot grow, and man and animals cannot survive. With too much water, plant growth is also rather limited due partly to oxygen deficit in root zone (Ro et al., 1995). The objective of this seminar is to discuss the most important aspects of water management in relation to crop production and environmental conservation. (omitted)

  • In this paper an algorithm is presented which serves for collision avoidance between robots with working space. The method is based on the concept of a hierarchical coordinator and permits an on-line application. Computing possible collision points a collision_free trajectory for the robot with no right_of_way precedence is generated. The computations are based on the states of the robots concerned including their practicable accelerations and velocities.

  • This paper deals with the problem of determining the optimal ordering quantity under the condition of a free addition. It is assumed that the supplier permits a fixed free addition depending on the amount of the quantity purchased by the customer. Investigation of the properties of an optimal solution allows us to develop an algorithm whose validity is illustrated through an example problem.

  • A laser-based in-process measurement system for the evaluation of surface roughness In turning Is reported. The proposed measuring system makes it possible to detect the surface roughness not only circumferential path but also along the feed direction even during machining. Also, it permits the real-time measurement of surface roughness In dynamic condition.

  • In this paper, some numerical methods recently developed for gas-liquid two-phase flows are reviewed. And then, a preconditioning method to solve cavitating flow by the author is introduced. This method employs a finite-difference Runge-Kutta method combined with MUSCL TVD scheme, and a homogeneous equilibrium cavitation model. So that it permits to treat simply the whole gas-liquid two-phase flow field including wave propagation, large density changes and incompressible flow characteristic at low Mach number. Finally, numerical results such as detailed observations of the unsteady cavity flows, a sheet cavitation break-off phenomena and some data related to performance characteristics of hydrofoils are shown.
