Thermal Fatigue Test of an Annular Structure

  • A half-scaled large test model for the main components of the real annular structure was built and the thermal behaviors were experimented and obtained by thermal cyclic loads. The model design and the test conditions for the thermal loads were determined to take into consideration the thermal and mechanical loads acting on the real annular structure by finite element analyses. Temperature profiles and strains of the main components of the model were measured at an early stage of the test and periodically throughout the test in the given test conditions. After completion of the thermal cyclic tests, no evidence of crack initiation and propagation were identified by a dye penetration test. The measured strains at the critical parts were slightly increased proportionally with the increase in the number of the thermal cycles.

Dispersion Characteristics of Periodically Loaded Conducting Posts in a Rectangular Waveguide as an Interaction Circuit of Broadband Gyro-TWT

  • A new type of interaction circuitry for a broadband gyro-TWT is presented in this paper. A method for the analysis of dispersion characteristics of a periodic structure, which is composed of conducting posts in a rectangular waveguide, is presented. This method utilizes a mode matching technique and equivalent circuit model. The calculated and measured results demonstrate that this periodic structure could be utilized for the interaction circuit of a wide band Gyro-TWT.

녹색 광 발진을 위한 주기적 분극 반전된 MgO : $LiNbO_3$ ridge waveguide 제작 (Fabrication of a periodically poled MgO : $LiNbO_3$ ridge waveguide for a green laser generation)

  • 녹색 광 발진을 위해 조화용융조성의 MgO가 첨가된 $LiNbO_3$ 결정을 이용하여 준위상정합 2차 조화파 도파로 소자를 제작하였다. 도메인 반전을 위해 +Z면에 주기적인 전극 패턴을 형성하였으며, 외부전계의 균일한 인가를 위해 LiCl 전해 용액을 사용하여 도메인을 반전 시켰다. 선택적 화학식각을 통해, 약 $6.8{\mu}m$의 분극 반전 주기를 확인 할 수 있었으며, $7{\mu}m$ ridge 높이와 $3{\mu}m$의 slap높이를 갖는 폭 $5{\mu}m$의 PPMgLN ridge-type 도파로 소자의 비선형 특성을 측정하였다.

  • 저손실 Ti:$LiNbO_3$ 광도파로 기판에 외부전계 인가법을 사용하여 주기적으로 도메인을 반전시켰다. $LiNbO_3$의 -Z 면에 Ti 패턴 형성 후 약 $1060^{\circ}C$에서 열처리 과정을 통해 광도파로를 형성하였으며, 제작된 광도파로의 광전송 손실은 ${\sim}0.1dB/cm$ 였다. 도메인 반전을 위해 +Z면에 주기적인 전극 패턴을 형성하였으며, 외부전계의 균일한 인가를 위해 LiCl 전해 용액을 사용하여 도메인을 반전 시켰다. 선택적 화학식각을 통해, 약 $16{\mu}m$의 도메인 반전 주기를 확인 할 수 있었으며, 주기적 도메인 반전구조를 갖는 Ti : $LiNbO_3$ 도파로의 비선형 특성을 측정하였다.

  • 본 연구에서는 MMIC 상에서 온칩용 수동소자의 개발을 위해서, 주기적으로 배치된 용량성 소자를 이용한 단파장 전송선로를 연구하였다. PACD 구조의 전송선로는 기존의 마이크로스트립 전송선로에 비해, 단파장 특성과 낮은 특성 임피던스를 나타내었다. PACD 구조의 전송선로 구조는 기존의 마이크로스트립 전송선로 파장의 8%의 파장 단축효과를 나타낸다. MMIC 상에서의 온칩용 수동소자로서의 적합성을 판단하기 위하여 이론적으로 PACD 선로구조의 손실특성, 유효유전율, 전파상수, 대역폭 등의 기본 특성을 분석하였다. 위의 결과들을 통하여 PACD 구조의 전송선로는 MMIC 상에서 온칩용 수동소자로서의 특성에 효과적임을 알 수 있다.

  • Korean trains pass many mountain areas, so the volume of structures like bridge and tunnel has large part of railway lines. Train speed-up naturally needs a straight line in railway, then structures are increasing, and the length of structure has more than 70% in Kyongbu high-speed railway. The stiffness of bridge and tunnel is higher than the soil in the roadbed in spite of dynamic difference in vibration and displacement. Differences in stiffness have more dynamic effects and increase the deformation and destruction in the track and roadbed. This influences passenger's comfort and the safety of operation, and it needs more track maintenance. This study selected tunnel with ballast track, tunnel with concrete track, and structure's approaches with short maintenance cycle in the roadbed and had track acceleration tests and track liner inspections using track master in the field. This study will measure periodically to structure's approaches which have very fast track irregularity and analyze dynamic differences and track irregularity near structure's approaches, so realize the cause of track irregularity of structure's approaches and use basic data for reasonably strengthening method of structure's approaches.

The correcting-schedule is established with accuracy, stability, purpose, condition, and frequency.

노후 콘크리트 구조물의 실용적 유지관리를 위한 콘크리트 구조물 안전진단 지침 분석 (Analysis of Safety Evaluation Guidelines for Practical Maintenance of Existing Concrete Structures)

  • In South Korea, problems caused by material deterioration of time-worn concrete structures have been increased recently. Because severe material deterioration could damage the structure's safety, it's important to evaluate the old structure's condition and structural capacity regularly to keep its proper performance. The safety evaluation of concrete structures has been initiated and performed periodically since 1995 according to a guideline in accordance with a law in Korea. The guideline prescribes the evaluation types, intervals and methods of the target structure. A lot of cost and labor have been invested every year to carry out the regular safety evaluation. However, it's not clear that the current manual could inspect the old structure's condition and assess the structural capacity precisely. Thus, the verification study initiated to figure out the Korean safety evaluation manual's practicalness. First, the Korean manual was analyzed and then compared with that of other countries for concrete bridges which are representative concrete structure. After that, the previously written evaluation reports were collected and analyzed to find out how the safety evaluation has been carried out. Based on the study results, the parts requiring verification of the manual were drawn. A research program is in progress in order to verify the parts by performing tests with actual structural members from decommissioned concrete bridges.

Si RFIC상에서 주기적 구조를 이용한 코프레너형 전송선로의 기본특성연구 (A Study on Basic Characteristics of a Coplanar-type Transmission Line Employing Periodic Structure on Si RFIC)

  • In this study, a short-wavelength coplanar-type transmission line employing periodic ground structure (PGS) was developed for application to miniaturized on-chip passive component on Si Radio Frequency Integrated Circuit (RFIC). The transmission line employing PGS showed shorter wavelength and lower characteristic impedance than conventional coplanar-type transmission line. The wavelength of the transmission line employing PGS structure was 57 % of the conventional coplanar-type transmission line on Si substrate. Using the theoretical analysis. basic characteristics of the transmission line employing PGS (e.g., bandwidth. loss, impedance, and resonance characteristics) were also investigated in order to evaluate its suitability for application to a development of miniaturized passive on-chip components on silicon RFIC. According to the results. the bandwidth of the transmission line employing PGS was more than 895 GHz as long as T is less than 20${\mu}m$, and the resonance characteristic was observed in 1239 GHz, which indicates that the PPGM structure is a promising candidate for application to a development of miniaturized on-chip passive components on Si RFIC.

주기적으로 분극 반전된 MgO:LiNbO3를 이용한 리지형 광도파로 파장가변 소자 제작 및 특성 (Fabrication and Characterization of Wavelength Conversion Device with Periodically Poled Ridge-type Waveguide in MgO:LiNbO3)

  • MgO가 첨가된 z-cut $LiNbO_3$를 이용하여 주기적으로 분극반전된 리지광도파로(Ridge-type Waveguide)를 제작하였으며 이를 적용하여 녹색광원 소자를 구현시 리지광도파로 높이 변화량과 분극반전주기비 변화량에 따른 이론적 결과와 실험적 결과를 비교 분석하였다. 이러한 비교분석을 위해 새로운 측정시스템을 구성하였으며, 이를 적용한 소자 측정 결과 중심파장은 1067.45 nm, 파장변환효율은 90.7%/$Wcm^2$ 및 파장변환효율곡선의 반치폭은 0.17 nm임을 확인하였다. 또한, 실험값과 이론값과의 비교결과 분극반전주기와 파장변환효율곡선의 반치폭 계산 오차는 각각 0.016 ${\mu}m$와 0.01 nm로 이론값이 실험값을 잘 예측함을 확인하였다.
