We studied the flow characteristics of the polymer melt in the injection molding process with ultrasonic vibration by using the numerical analysis. To minimize the error between the experimental data and numerical result, we presented a methodology using the design of experiments and the response surface method for reverse engineering. This methodology can be applied to various fields to obtain a valid and accurate numerical analysis. Ultrasonic vibration is generally applied between an extruder and the entrance of a mold for improvement the flow rate in injection molding. In comparison with the general ultrasonic process, the mode shape of the mold must be also considered when the ultrasonic vibration is applied on the mold. The mode shape is defined as the periodic and spatial deformation of the structure owing to the effect of the vibration, and it varies greatly according to vibration conditions such as the forcing frequency. Therefore, we considered new index and found the forcing frequency for obtaining the highest flow rate within the range from 20 to 60 kHz on the basis of the index. Ultimately, we presented the methodology for not only obtaining a valid and accurate numerical analysis, but also for finding the forcing frequency to obtain the highest flow rate in injection molding using ultrasonic vibration.
In the present work, the elasto-viscoplastic behavior, interactions between grains, and the texture evolution in polycrystalline materials subjected to finite deformations are modeled using a multiscale analysis procedure within a finite element framework. Computational homogenization is used to relate the grain (meso) scale to the macroscale. Specifically, a polycrystal is modeled by a material representative volume element (RVE) consisting of an aggregate of grains, and a periodic distribution of such unit cells is considered to describe material behavior locally on the macroscale. The elastic behavior is defined by a hyperelastic potential, and the viscoplastic response is modeled by a simple power law complemented by a work hardening equation. The finite element framework is based on a Lagrangian formulation, where a kinematic split of the deformation gradient into volume preserving and volumetric parts together with a three-field form of the Hu-Washizu variational principle is adopted to create a stable finite element method. Examples involving simple deformations of an aluminum alloy are modeled to predict inhomogeneous fields on the grain scale, and the macroscopic effective stress-strain curve and texture evolution are compared to those obtained using both upper and lower bound models.
The purpose of this study is to analyze the phenomena of the thermally-induced vibration for the flexible space structure due to abrupt change of radiation heating circumstance using the numerical analyze and experiment test. In order to verify this structure, numerical approaches on the simplified flexible tube were compared with experimental test results at the ground experimental facility In this analyze, it was found that the thermal deformation occurs firstly due to fast radiation heating of flexible structure and then the thermally-induced vibration would be induced due to small periodic change of temperature. According to comparison of numerical and experimental result, in case of no tip mass, the first mode vibration by the numerical analyze was O.78Hz same as that of the experimental result However in case of increase tip-masses of 8g l6g, 50g and 100g, the first modes vibration theoretical analyze were 1.75Hz, 1.3Hz, 0.87Hz and O.73Hz, in decrease trend respectively and those by experimental test were 234Hz, 1.5Hz, O.78Hz and O.78Hz in decrease trend respectively Although using the simpled equation for the estimation, the estimation results were similar to experimental results.
3-ply Mg/Al/STS clad-metal was fabricated by the roll bonding process. An interfacial reaction layer was formed at the Mg/Al interface at and above $300^{\circ}C$ whereas no interfacial reaction layer was observed up to $400^{\circ}C$. The effect of the interfacial reaction layer on the mechanical and fracture properties in clad metals after heat treatments were investigated The chemical compositions were analyzed at the Mg/Al interface by an Energy dispersive X-ray analysis (EDX). A tension test was performed to examine the interfacial cracking properties. The Mg layer fractured first, causing a sudden drop of the stress and Al/STS layer continued to deform until the final fracture. Periodic cracks and crack propagation was observed at the reaction layer between Mg and Al.
This paper presents the semi-analytical development of the dynamic instability behavior and the dynamic response of functionally graded (FG) cylindrical shallow shell panel subjected to different type of periodic axial compression. First, in prebuckling analysis, the stresses distribution within the panels are determined for respective loading type and these stresses are used to study the dynamic instability behavior and the dynamic response. The prebuckling stresses within the shell panel are the same as applied in-plane edge loading for the case of uniform and linearly varying loadings. However, this is not true for the case of parabolic loadings. The parabolic edge loading produces all the stresses (${\sigma}_{xx}$, ${\sigma}_{yy}$ and ${\tau}_{xy}$) within the FG cylindrical panel. These stresses are evaluated by minimizing the membrane energy via Ritz method. Using these stresses the partial differential equations of FG cylindrical panel are formulated by applying Hamilton's principal assuming higher order shear deformation theory (HSDT) and von-$K{\acute{a}}rm{\acute{a}}n$ non-linearity. The non-linear governing partial differential equations are converted into a set of Mathieu-Hill equations via Galerkin's method. Bolotin method is adopted to trace the boundaries of instability regions. The linear and non-linear dynamic responses in stable and unstable region are plotted to know the characteristics of instability regions of FG cylindrical panel. Moreover, the non-linear frequency-amplitude responses are obtained using Incremental Harmonic Balance (IHB) method.

The national geodetic reference frame of Korea was adopted in 2003, which is referenced to ITRF (International Terrestrial Reference Frame) 2000 at the epoch of January 1, 2002. For precise positioning based on the satellites, it should be thoroughly maintained to the newest global reference frame. Other than plate tectonic motion, there are significant events or changes such as earthquakes, antenna replacement, PSD (Post-Seismic Deformation), seasonal variation etc. We processed three years of GNSS (Global Navigation Satellite System) data(60 NGII CORS stations, 51 IGS core stations) to produce daily solutions minimally constrained to ITRF. From the time series of daily solutions, the sites with unexpected discontinuity were identified to set up an event(mostly antenna replacement). The combined solution with minimum constraints was estimated along with the velocity, the offsets, and the periodic signals. The residuals show that the surrounding environment also affects the time series to a certain degree, thus it should be improved eventually. The transformation parameters to ITRF2014 were calculated with stability and consistency, which means the national geodetic reference frame is properly aligned to the global reference frame.
The microstructures and mechanical properties of roll-bonded STS439/Al1050/STS304 clad materials were investigated after an annealing process at various temperatures. Interfacial layer was developed at the STS439/Al1050 and Al1050/STS304 interfaces at $550^{\circ}C$. STS439/Al1050/STS304 clad metals fractured suddenly in a single step and the fracture decreased with increasing annealing temperatures at $450^{\circ}C$. After annealing at $550^{\circ}C$, samples fractured in three steps with each layer fracturing independently. Interfacial layers formed at $550^{\circ}C$ with a high Vickers microhardness were found to be brittle. During tensile testing, periodic parallel cracks were observed at the interfacial reaction layer. Observed micro-void between Al1050 and the interfacial layer was found to weaken the Al1050/reaction layer interface, leading to the total separation between Al1050 and the reaction layer.
Measurement of five DOF motion errors in a ultra precision feed table was attempted in this study. Yaw and pitch error were measured by using a laser interferometer and roll error was measured by using the reversal method. Linear motion errors in the vertical and horizontal directions were measured by using the sequential two point method. In this case, influence of angular motion errors was compensated by using the previously measured ones by the laser interferometer and the reversal method. The capacitive type sensors and an optical straight edge were used in the reversal method and the sequential two point method. Influence of thermal deformation on sensor jig was investgated and minimized by the periodic measurement according to the variation of room temperature. Deviation of gain between sensors was also compensated using the step response data. 5 DOF motion errors of a hydrostatic table driven by the linear motor werer tested using the measurement method. In the horizontal direction, measuring accuracies for the linear and angular motion were within ${\pm}0.02\;{\mu}m$ and ${\pm}0.04$ arcsec, respectively. In the vertical direction, they were within ${\pm}0.02{\mu}m$ and ${\pm}0.05$ arcsec. From these results, it was found that the introduced measurement method was very effective to measure 5 DOF motion errors of the ultra precision feed tables.
Spatially rotating magnetic fields have been observed in the solar wind and in the Earth's magnetopause as well as in reversed field pinch (RFP) devices. Such field configurations have a similarity with extended current layers having a spatially varying plasma pressure instead of the spatially varying guide field. It is thus expected that magnetic reconnection may take place in a rotating magnetic field no less than in an extended current layer. We have investigated the spontaneous evolution of a collisionless plasma system embedding a rotating magnetic field with a two-and-a-half-dimensional electromagnetic particle-in-cell (PIC) simulation. In magnetohydrodynamics, magnetic flux can be decreased by diffusion in O-lines. In kinetic physics, however, an asymmetry of the velocity distribution function can generate new magnetic flux near O- and X-lines, hence a dynamo effect. We have found that a magnetic-flux-reducing diffusion phase and a magnetic-flux-increasing dynamo phase are alternating with a certain period. The temperature of the system also varies with the same period, showing a similarity to sawtooth oscillations in tokamaks. We have shown that a modified theory of sawtooth oscillations can explain the periodic behavior observed in the simulation. A strong guide field distorts the current layer as was observed in laboratory experiments. This distortion is smoothed out as magnetic islands fade away by the O-line diffusion, but is soon strengthened by the growth of magnetic islands. These processes are all repeating with a fixed period. Our results suggest that a rotating magnetic field configuration continuously undergoes deformation and relaxation in a short time-scale although it might look rather steady in a long-term view.
