This paper presents an adaptive controller for the compensation of state-dependent disturbance with unknown amplitude in a digital servo motor system. The state-dependent disturbance is caused by friction and eccentricity between the wheel axis and the motor driver of a mobile robot servo system. The proposed control scheme guarantees an asymptotical stability for both the velocity and position regulation. An experimental result shows the effectiveness of the adaptive disturbance compensator for wheeled-mobile robot in a low velocity diffusion tracking. A comparative experimental study with a simple PI controller is presented.

Addiction can be largely divided into two categories. One is called medium addiction in which medium itself causes an addiction. Another is called cause addiction that brings addiction through combination of sensitive self and latent personal action. The medium addiction involves addiction phenomena directly caused by illegal drugs, alcohol and various other chemicals. The cause addiction is dependent on personal sensitivities as a sensitive problem of personal and includes cyber addictions such as shopping, work, game, internet, TV, and gambling. In this paper we propose two-dimensional addiction model that are equivalent to using an R-L-C series circuit of Electrical circuit and a Spring-Damper-mass of mechanical system. We also organize a Duffing equation that is added a nonlinear term in the proposed two-dimensional addiction model. We represent periodic motion and chaotic motion as time series and phase portrait according to parameter's variation. We confirm that among parameters chaotic motion had addicted state and periodic motion caused by change in control coefficient had pre-addiction state.

Two main characteristics of VBR MPEG video traffic are different statistics according to different picture types and the periodic traffic pattern due to GOP structure. Especially, the I-pictures at the beginning of each GOP generate $$\mu$h more traffic than other pictures. When several VBR Mpeg video sources are superposed, the I-picture starting times of these sources may significantly affect the cell loss characteristics of ATM $$\mu$tiplexers. In this paper, we propse a performance model for ATM $$\mu$tiplexers with VBR MPEG video sources whose starting times are arbitrary given. For analysis, both single and superposed source traffic are modeled as NDPPs (non-deterministic periodic processes), and the ATM $$\mu$tiplexer is modeled as a U-state NDPPD/D/1/B queueing system. It is hown that the numerical results are very close to the si$$\mu$ation results. From the relationships between the starting tiem distributions and the corresponding $$\mu$tiplexer performances, some considerations for designing a scheduling policy in order to obtain the maxi$$\mu$$$\mu$tiplexing gain are presented.

The effects of periodic and chaotic behaviour in the Bonhoeffer-Van der Pol (BVP) oscillation of the nerve membrane driven by a periodic stimulating current A1 coswtare investigated through hardware implementation. For hardware implementation of the BVP model. real element values were escaled with computer simulation results to determine the parameter real value. As the parameter A1 varied in the range 0 to 1.3, the BVP model showed an ordinary and reversed period-doubling cascade and a chaotic state. At the low driving amplitude ofa1 the period-doubling showed and at the high driving amplitude of A1 the chaotic state occured. To analyse the BVP model for chaotic behaviour Phase Plane, Time series are used to verify that properties.
The flow past a circular cylinder forced to vibrate transversely is numerically simulated by solving the two-dimensional Navier-Stokes equations modified by the vibration velocity of a circular cylinder at a Reynolds number of 164. The higher-order finite difference scheme is employed for the spatial discretization along with the second order Adams-Bashforth and the first order backward-Euler time integration. The calculated cylinder vibration frequency is between 0.60 and 1.30 times of the natural vortex-shedding frequency. The calculated oscillation amplitude extends to 25% of the cylinder diameter and in the case of the lock-in region it is 60%. It is made clear that the cylinder oscillation has influence on the wake pattern, the time histories of the drag and lift forces, power spectral density and phase diagrams, etc. It is found that these results include both the periodic (lock-in) and the quasi-periodic (non-lock-in) state. The vortex shedding frequency equals the driving frequency in the lock-in region but is independent in the non-lock-in region. The mean drag and the maximum lift coefficient increase with the increase of the forcing amplitude in the lock-in state. The lock-in boundaries are also established from the present direct numerical simulation.

The flow past a circular cylinder forced to vibrate transversely is numerically simulated by solving the two-dimensional Wavier-Stokes equations modified by the vibration velocity of a circular cylinder at a Reynolds number of 164. The calculated cylinder vibration frequency is between 0.60 and 1.30 times of the natural vortex-shedding frequency. This paper presents the minimum-cost network selection scheme which determines the transmission instance in the multi-band maritime communication system, so that the shipment-related real-time information can be transmitted within the maximum allowed period. The transmission instances and the corresponding network selection process are modeled by a Markov Decision Process (MDP), for the channel model in the 2-state Markov chain, which can be solved by stochastic dynamic programming. It derives the minimum-cost network selection rule, which can reduce the network cost significantly as compared with the straight-forward scheme with a periodic transmission.

Given a periodic reference signal or disturbance, repetitive control is a special control scheme to reduce a tracking error effectively by the periodic signal generator in the repetitive controller. In general, a repetitive controller is added on the existing feedback control system to improve the tracking performance. However, because the information used in the design of the feedback controller is not taken into account, the design problem of the repetitive controller is totally another problem irrespective of that of the feedback controller. In this paper, we present a more general method to design an add-on type repetitive controller using the information on the performance of the existing feedback control system. We first show that a robust stability condition of repetitive control systems is obtained using the well-known robust performance condition of general feedback control systems. It is also shown that we can obtain a steady-state tracking error described in a simple form without time-delay element if the robust stability condition is satisfied for the repetitive control system. From the obtained results, several design criterions for repetitive controller are provided. Through the simulation study, the feasibility of the proposed method is verified.

The effect of oscillating on the unsteady laminar flow past a circular cylinder is numerically investigated in the present study. Our study is to analyze the vortex formation behind a circular cylinder for different rotary oscillation conditions. And then we are study to portray the unsteady dynamics of wake flows. We decide lock-on region by observing the phase switching phenomena We classify the vortex formation patterns in the primary lock-on region The present study is to identify the quasi-periodic state around lock-on region. At the boundary between lock-on and non-lock-on the shedding frequency is bifurcated. After the bifurcation, one frequency follow the forcing frequency ($S_f$) and the other returns to the natural shedding frequency ($St_0$). In the quasi-periodic state, the variation of magnitudes and relevant phase changes of $C_L$ with forcing phase are examined.

In this paper, an inverse problem of glass forming process is studied to determine a number of unknown heat transfer coefficients which are imposed as boundary conditions. An analysis program for transient heat conduction of axi-symmetric dimension is developed to simulate the forming and cooling process. The analysis is repeated until it attains periodic state, which requires at least 30 cycles of iteration. Measurements are made for the temperatures at several available time and positions of glass and moulds in operation. Heat removal by the cooling water from the plunger is also recorded. An optimization problem is formulated to determine heat transfer coefficients which minimize the difference between the measured data and analysis results. Significant time savings are achieved in finite difference based sensitivity computation during the optimization by employing distributed computing technique. The analysis results by the optimum heat transfer coefficients are found to agree well with the measured data.
