산대(山臺)를 통해 본 석가산 조영 문화 (An Implications of the Korea's Traditional Seokgasan through the Studying Traditional Sandae)

  • 본 연구는 고려시대부터 조선 후기까지 궁궐 왕의 행차, 나례, 사신영접, 연회 등의 목적으로 조설되었던 전통공연예술분야의 무대장치인 산대(山臺)의 유형, 구조적 형상, 표상의 원리를 고찰하여 동시대 석가산(石假山) 조영 문화의 확장성을 제시하고자 하였으며, 그 결론은 다음과 같다. 첫째, 산대의 발달사와 그 의미를 통해 외부공간에 '산'의 형상을 실체화하고자 한 석가산의 조영 문화와의 동질성을 갖고 있다는 사실을 확인할 수 있었다. 산대를 만드는 행위 자체는 명산을 숭배하는 전통과 관련이 깊다. 이는 고려 예종 '청연각' 앞뜰에 조성된 석가산에서 중국의 명산명호(名山名湖)가 표상적으로 비유되어 모사(摹寫)된 사실과도 일치한다. 둘째, 산대와 석가산은 그 구조적 형상과 재료, 기술적 제작방식은 달랐으나 산의 형상을 조형하여 완상하거나 국가행사의 무대배경으로 활용되며, 다양한 유형으로 나타나고 있었다. 산을 모사한 산대의 형상과 상징적 의미는 요산요수(樂山樂水)로 대표되는 당대의 정원 및 예술적 관심사가 산수의 다양한 조형적 표현으로 귀결되고 있음을 알 수 있다. 셋째, 신재효의 고택의 정원 중앙에 위치했던 것으로 추정되는 연(蓮)이 심겨진 방지와 이에 인접한 수각과 석가산은 정원을 수식하는 요소일 뿐 아니라 신재효의 문하생의 수련 및 공연무대의 배경으로 기능을 수행했을 것으로 추정된다.

콘서트홀에서 무대음향에 대한 무대 반사판의 영향 (The Effects of Stage Reflectors on Stage Acoustics in Concert Halls)

  • The effects of the movable reflectors on the stage acoustics in Seoul's Sejong Performing Arts Center (3,048-seat multi-purpose hall, stage area of $270m^2$ within an orchestra shell) and Ceramic Palace Hall (440-seat concert hall, stage area of $105m^2$) were investigated. Acoustical parameters were evaluated by measuring stage and audience acoustics in the two halls. The study was primarily based on the stage support parameter STI proposed by Gade (Acustica 65, pp.193-203, 1989). Results showed that STI varied on the stage of the large hall according to the position of the reflectors, whereas STI did not vary in the small hall. In the large hall, a smaller clear stage area (bounded by the reflectors) yields an increase in both STI and other early energy measures. In the small hall, early energy decreases when its stage's surface diffusion was covered with specular reflectors.

Weight loss effect through traditional Korean instruments

  • Most modern adults are overweight or obese. Health services are troubling to overcome the large number of individuals in need of weight loss. Music therapy is emerging as a new option. Among various music therapy methods, it studied various treatments through Korean traditional music, and it is thought that Korean traditional music is a good therapy for diet. The present review focused on find the most useful condition for weight control by using Korean traditional music. National Center for Korean Traditional Performing Arts measured the dB of Korean traditional music, In the next, listen to other dB's music while eating and compared energy intake, water intake, duration of meals, number of servings, number of bites, eating rate (bites per minute), and bite size (grams). As a result of the exhibits, differences in food intake were also found in the difference of dB. 60 dB of music showed a decrease in energy intake. It suggests that Korean traditional music belonging to 60 dB brings weight loss effect. As a result, the effect of weight loss is shown by use Korean traditional music. However, future studies should be performed to reduce the energy intake by increasing the exposure period to Korean traditional music

공연종사자 피난을 위한 안전시설의 운영전략 연구 (A Study of the Safety Facilities Operation Strategies for Performing Arts Workers Evacuation)

  • The objectives of this study is to classify evacuation types, derive the characteristics of 4 types, develop and discover evacuation routes within the performance hall space, and present the statistical classification results of the evacuation classification model by classification type. To achieve this purpose, the characteristics of each evacuation type's four types are applied through a network reliability analysis method and utilized for institutional improvement and policy. This study applies for the building law, evacuation and relief safety standards when establishing a performance hall safety management plan, and reflects it in safety-related laws, safety standards, and policy systems. Statistical data by evacuation type were analyzed, and measurement characteristics were compared and analyzed by evacuation types. Evaluate the morphological similarity and reliability of evacuation types according to door width and passage length and propose the install position of evacuation guidance sign boards. The results of this study are expected to be used as basic data to provide operation strategies for safety facility evacuation information sign boards according to evacuation route classification types when taking a safety management plan. The operation strategy for the evacuation sign boards installation that integrates employee guidance and safety training is applied to the performance hall safety management plan. It will contribute to establishing an operational strategy for performance space safety when constructing performance facilities in the future.

Development of Core Strength Training Equipment and Its Effect on the Performance and Stability of the Elderly in Activities of Daily Living

  • Objective: This study aimed, first, to develop core strength training equipment with elderly-friendly, easy-to-use features and, second, to investigate the effect of core strength training using the equipment on the performance and stability of the elderly in activities of daily living. Method: In this study, we developed training equipment with a stability ball that can be used for performing core strength exercises in the elderly. Twenty-three elderly subjects (age: $77.87{\pm}6.95years$, height: $149.78{\pm}6.95cm$, and weight: $60.57{\pm}7.21kg$) participated in this study. The subjects performed the core strength training exercise with 16 repetitions for 8 weeks (2 repetitions per week). Performance in activities of daily living was assessed by using the Short Physical Performance Battery (SPPB), a test of going up and down 4 stairs, and one-leg static balance test. Stability was quantified as changes in the center of pressure (COP) and C90 area. Results: With the core strength equipment, trunk core strength exercise could be performed by pulling or pushing a rope with 2 hands on the stability ball. During the task, the tension in the rope was manipulated by a motor connected to the rope and the COP of the subject was measured by 4 load cells mounted in the equipment. Our results showed that the SPPB score was significantly higher (p < .05), the time to complete the "going up and down 4 stairs" test was significantly shorter (p < .05), and one-leg static balance statistically improved under an eyes-open condition (p < .05) after as compared with before the core strength training. The changes in the COP in the anteroposterior and mediolateral directions, and C90 area were significantly lower in the posttest (p <. 05) than in the pretest. Conclusion: The core strength training exercise using the equipment developed in the present study improved the performance and stability of the elderly in activities of daily living.

한국 전통음악의 전승과 미래 - 가야금산조를 중심으로 - (Transmission of Korean Traditional Music - Focusing of Solo Instrumental Music for the Gayageum (12-stringed Zither) -)

  • 20세기 초 일제강점기를 겪고 서양문화의 급격한 수입으로 인해 전통은 '과거의 진부한 유산'으로 취급받으면서 전통음악은 농경사회의 잔재 혹은 '기생문화'의 전형으로 여겨졌다. 이런 와중에 전통음악문화는 매우 빠른 속도로 붕괴되면서 피폐화되었다. 1960년대 이후 전통문화를 보호하기 위한 문화재보호법이 제정되면서 무형문화유산은 정부의 보호막에 들어갔다. 이후 많은 전통음악장르가 중요무형문화재로 지정되어 근근이 명맥을 유지하게 된다. 또한 많은 대학에 국악과가 설립되고, 국립국악원을 비롯한 각종 시립·도립 국악관현악단이 설립되면서 전통음악은 부활하고 있다. 그러나 제도권 음악계의 이런 변화는 우리의 전통음악문화의 전승방법과는 전혀 다른 것이다. 전통음악을 포함하는 무형문화유산은 살아있는 생명체이고, 전통음악은 이를 둘러싼 유기적인 환경이 바뀌면 외부환경의 영향으로 스스로 소멸되기도 하고 새로운 환경에 적응하기 위하여 끊임없이 변모하기 마련이다. 한번 창작되면 어느 정도의 고정성을 갖는 완성예술(product arts)인 서양예술음악과는 달리 한국 전통음악은 음악가의 손을 거치면서 시대적으로 끊임없이 새로운 모습으로 변화하는 과정예술(process arts)의 전형적인 형태를 보인다. 이것이 한국 전통음악의 생명력이었다. 일제강점기 이후 자생적 생명력을 소진한 전통음악은 해방 이후에는 외부의 동력에 힘입어 새로운 생명력을 얻게 되었다. 즉, 해방 이후의 전통음악문화는 기존의 음악문화와는 전혀 다른 경험을 통해 성장하고 있다. 이는 전통문화의 재창조·전승이라는 긍정적인 작용과 더불어 왜곡·박제화라는 부정적인 면도 공존하고 있는 실정이다. 이 글에서는 가야금산조를 중심으로 전통음악의 전승과 미래를 논의하고자 한다. 전통음악의 부침과 부활을 가장 극명하게 보여주는 것이 기악독주음악인 산조이다. 19세기 끝머리에 처음 만들어진 산조는 일제강점기에는 판소리의 전성시대에 힘입어 괄목할만한 성장을 이룬다. 그러나 해방 후에는 전통음악의 부침과 더불어 침체기를 겪다가 1960년대 이후 중요무형문화재와 대학 교육의 영향으로 부활하여 지금은 전통음악장르를 대표하는 음악으로 성장했다.

기하학적 선의 조합을 응용한 세종문화화관 조경설계 (The Landscape Design of Sejong Center Square by applying the Combination of Geometric Lines)

  • This landscape design is a work for which we selected the square of Sejong Center for the Performing Arts as a object area, drew inhuman factors, and tried to restore them to human environment. This plan assumes that excessive urban environment results from disorder and man can keep it in order and restore it to human environment through the progressive process of speculation. In this plan, we included the least parking space and nearby roads in the object area to maximize the location feature and the symbol of cultural space, and planned that the object area may play its role of open space in the downtown. To grant the symbol of culture space, we established the progressive process of speculation and the relationship of mu, heaven and earth, and culture, geometrically diagrammatized it, combined the circular and rectangular lines derived from it, and suggested a plan. Urban environment will continue to change in the future. However, as long as it is not ensured that the change will progress upward, city would be far from human environment anyhow. Effects to display inhuman space overlooked in the downtown and restore it to human environment for citizen and location for man, should continue.

연주홀 특성을 적용한 악기 무대 배치 시뮬레이션 소프트웨어 제작 (Simulation Software for Instrument Placement on Stage Based on the Acoustic Properties of Concert Halls)

  • 본 연구에서는 연주홀 특성에 맞는 무대 위에서의 악기 배치를 가상적으로 구현하는 문제를 다룬다. 악기 배치에 따른 소리의 변화를 예상하기 위한 모델로는 위치기반 잔향 효과 이론을 적용하였다. 이를 위하여 우선 무대 위 여러 지점에서 발생된 임펄스 응답을 측정한 후, 각 악기가 배치된 곳에 해당하는 임펄스 응답과 악기 음원을 컨볼루션하고 이를 무대 위 모든 악기에 적용하는 알고리즘을 구현하였다. 또한, 사용자가 무대에서의 악기 위치를 지정함에 따라 실시간 분할 컨볼루션 엔진을 기반으로 이를 시뮬레이션 할 수 있는 프로그램을 개발하였다. 국립국악원 내 공연장에서 측정된 임펄스 응답과 국악기 음원을 사용하여 본 프로그램의 효용성을 확인하기 위한 청취 평가 실험을 진행하였으며, 그 결과 시뮬레이션 된 잔향효과가 악기 무대 배치에 따른 위치의 느낌을 잘 나타냄을 확인할 수 있었다.

국내 무대의상 제작시스템 방법론 정립에 관한 연구 - 뮤지컬 '시카고'를 중심으로 - (A Study on the Production System of Korean Stage Costume - Focused on the Musical 'Chicago' -)

  • Ever since the year 2000, Korea's musical markets has invited famous overseas license performances and have therefore cooperated with staffs working overseas in regards to stage costumes. This study aims to suggest the methodology of the stage costume making process according to the present advanced production system of Korea's musical market. The researcher participated in the stage costume making work of 'Chicago' as a costume supervisor. It took place at the Opera House of Seongnam Art Center from January 10, 2010 to February 28, 2010. Furthermore, there was significance in reinforcing academic values and implementing practical making process of stage-costumes based on the actual field work. The method of this research was carried out through a theoretical research and a case study that focused on empirical research. As for the research scope, it was limited to the actual stage-costumes that the researcher fully engaged with as a costume supervisor of the musical 'Chicago.' The results of this study were as follows. The stage costume making process of the musical 'Chicago' was categorized according to the classification of production system in the performance. For pre-production, it was divided according to the information of the actor and the analysis of the bible. Rehearsal period was divided according to the product clothes and fitting. Production week & preview were divided according to the changeover of clothes and the arrangement of dressers. The Run was divided according to the inspection of the situation concerning clothes in general during the performance. Post-Production Period was divided according to the collection of clothes and the implemented database. This study eventually suggested appropriate stage-costume making processes for the costumes making environment according to the expansion of overseas license musical market. However, it has a limitation of the research scope to the musical 'Chicago.' The creative performances of the domestic version are planned in diverse forms and come to abroad animate by the Korean Wave. Therefore, the field of stage-costume is necessary for the establishment of practical schemes of the system and copyright in accordance with the environment.

『한한대사전(漢韓大辭典)』에 보이는 『금병매사화(金瓶梅詞話)』 관련 어휘 오류연구(誤謬硏究) (A Study of Error Correction in Words Used in Chinese Novel Kam Pin Mui Presented in the Great Chinese-Korean Dictionary)

  • This article examines the problems with some words used in "Chinese novel Kam Pin Mui"that are presented in"the Great Chinese-Korean dictionary". The author analyses the problems into three aspects: first, error correction in meaning interpretation; second, supplementary correction in meaning interpretation; and third, additional error correction. The main points of the study are presented in the following. First, in relation to the error correction in meaning interpretation, this study finds out that the explanations of "Liezi", "daxuanmo", "kedui", "shaojian" in the "Great Chinese-Korean dictionary"are incorrect. The cases involve the explanations that have no foundation, do not get to the points, and have narrow meaning interpretations compared with original meanings. Second, as for the supplementary correction, this study points out that the explanations of "yiri", "jiaosa", "buxi", "langhu" are not sufficient. Thus, this study claims that the following meanings for each case should be added, including "long time," "abdominal pains during pregnancy," "a type of folk performing arts without stages in local areas of China, and "to devour in greedy gulps." Third, with respect to the additional error correction, this study analyses "the typos of the examples," "the setup of inaccurate meaning items," "the front-to-back arrangement of the examples," and "inconsistency between meaning interpretations and examples" displayed in the dictionary. The error correction in the dictionary can be possible only if the findings from several other disciplines should be incorporated, involving cultural history, the history of literature, philology, grammatology, linguistics, etc. It seems impossible for a person to solve all the problems with the errors in the dictionary. Thus, it will be greatly helpful to the author and the people who prepare for the new edition of "the Great Chinese-Korean dictionary" if we can get continuous supports and comments from relating scholars of other disciplines. As a result, all these efforts will contribute to the academic progress for the relevant disciplines and these academic activities may develop a new area of the study.
