Daylighting is one of the major elements in architectural design. It also plays an important role in the museums focused on displaying artistic works. Many architects have tried to predict daylighting performances in exhibition spaces during the design process of museums. The aims of this study are to present the design methods using the computer program RADIANCE that is available for the evaluations of daylighting performances in indoor space and to help architects design daylighting systems for better exhibition spaces of museums. For this study, Seoul Museum of Art was chosen and it was evaluated the recommended illuminance and the impacts of direct sunlight under the conditions of overcast sky and clear sky with sun. According to simulation results, they indicated that the alternative toplight system(sawtooth shape) was more effective for daylighting of exhibition spaces than the existing toplight system(pyramid shape) and this study showed a method to evaluate daylighting effects in exhibition spaces with various shapes of toplight systems.
The vibrations caused by metro operation propagate through surrounding soil, further induce secondary vibrations of the nearby underground structures and adjacent buildings. In order to investigate the effects of vibrations caused by metro on use performance of buildings, vibration experiment of Chengdu museum was carried out firstly. Then, the coupling tunnel-soil-structure finite element model was established with software ANSYS detailedly, providing a useful tool for investigating the vibration performances of structures. Furthermore, the dynamic responses and vibration predictions of museum building were obtained respectively by the whole process time-domain analysis and frequency-domain analysis, which were compared with the vibration reference values of museum. Quantitative analyses of the museum building performance were carried out, and the possible tendency and changing laws of vibration level with floors were proposed. Finally, the related vibration isolation measures were compared and discussed. The tests and analysis results show that: The vertical vibration responses almost increased with the increasing of building floors, while weak floors existed for the curve of horizontal vibration; The vertical vibrations were larger than the horizontal vibrations, indicating the vibration performances of building caused by metro were characterized with vertical vibrations; The frequencies of the museum corresponding to the peak vibration levels were around 6~17Hz; The damping effect of structure with 33m-span cantilever on vertical vibration was obvious, however, the damping effect of structure with foundation vibration isolators was not obvious.

The recommendation system applied in museums has been widely adopted owing to its advanced technology. However, it is unclear which recommendation is suitable for indoor museum guidance. This study evaluated a recommender system based on social-filtering and statistical methods applied to actual museum databases. We evaluated both methods using two different datasets. Statistical methods use collective data, whereas social methods use individual data. The results showed that both methods could provide significantly better results than random methods. However, we found that the trip time length and the dataset's sizes affect the performance of both methods. The social-filtering method provides better performance for long trip periods and includes more complex calculations, whereas the statistical method provides better performance for short trip periods. The critical points are defined to indicate the trip time for which the performances of both methods are equal.
As dance performances in the theater space are centered on text, they have plots and make characters stand out. They also emphasize expressivity and technique, and their recognition of space is very modern and typical of dichotomous Cartesian thinking. The museum space has many similarities with the theater space in that it is a result of modernity and granted authority to present arts. The performances in museums place value more on the presence than on the representation. For this reason, works in museums, which are frequently presented in recent years, are mainly works of site-specific or performative concepts. Now, rather than being able to obtain from aesthetics defined as works, the museum is assured its own aesthetic production and justification, paying attention to the performance as an event occurring now and here.

This study aims to identify the impact of optical energy on cultural properties when the light energy irradiates cultural assets during augmented reality (AR) or media façade performances as activities designed to garner public interest. The 10-story Gyeongcheonsa Pagoda was used for this study, and the impact was evaluated by comparing the optical energy irradiated during a media façade performance with the energy irradiated under normal conditions. For comparison, this study measured the illuminance in lux for each light source that irradiated the ten-story stone pagoda and used the data to calculate illuminance in lux-hours. The results showed that the pagoda receives 786.4 lux per hour when both sunlight and artificial light are present, while 13.2 lux of energy is irradicated by the media façade for each performance. The result indicates that the pagoda receives about 29.8 times more optical energy from sunlight and artificial light sources than during media façade performances on an hourly basis, when the performance is carried out twice a week. This study therefore concludes that the optical energy of media façade performances inflicted trivial damage to the ten-story stone pagoda.
Gojong' Birth Anniversary Memorial Banquet in the 1910s was forced to be performed differently from the performance style in Joseon Dynasty period that featured a harmonious majestic beauty of etiquette music. The banquet was separated into three different sessions of ceremony, luncheon and performance', which clearly revealed a distinctive pattern of etiquette music. The performance was accompanied by the dinner party or was lightly implemented as part of evening entertainment. With the use of the term entertainment, the performances belonging to this category fell into nothing but something to enjoy, amusement, fun and play. The contents of such performances were not closely woven into the fabric of the entire banquet but were individualized and scattered in a way of putting the performances in a state of flux in line with the circumstances. Therefore, it became increasingly hard to expect a high degree of completion and solid structure of performances. The items of performance included western music, popular vocal music, popular instrumental music, magic, and film, which were not played in traditional court banquet in the presence of Gojong rather than traditional music and dance performed in court. In other words, the court performance could not maintain its traditional heritage but was transformed into a mixture of popular performance and new forms of art. It was driven by the Japanese imperialism toward the atmosphere of entertainment in oblivion of tradition but not toward the external extension of court performances.
We wanted to check The feasibility of substituting the manual ceramic packaging technology with 3D digital technology using cotton pad packaging material was examined. To examine the shock absorption, vibration resistance and compression resistance of 3D packaging material printed out by using TPU material, composite vibration, and packaging compression and drop tests were conducted. As the results of the tests, the 3D packaging material displayed vibration resistance that has been improved by approximately 10~20% based on the damping ratio of the composite vibration test, compression resistance performances that are more than 5 times higher, and shock absorption performance was also improved as the packaged object was not broken in the six-sided drop test. Based on these results, it is determined that it would be possible to secure the reusability of the ceramic packaging materials and simplify packaging techniques, and to present diversity in the packaging materials and packaging technologies.
Among elements of play, there are puppets performances and shadows performance which are replacing actors by puppets and shadows. Puppet performance is characteristic of expressing various movements and symbols at its conveniences by the reduced models of human form with various materials. Shadow performance is realized in various colors that cannot be discovered in other countries by expressing mysterious cubic effect in reflecting the light against various forms. Mansukjung Nolum is a unique shadow performance that has been inherited in Korea. There are found many shadow performances inherited in the northern Europe and South-eastern Asia. Recently the silhouette animation in application of shadow performance is made. In the northern Europe and South-eastern Asia, they performed in white and black color while Mansukjung Nolum is performed in natural colors. Since they adopted the leather materials for making puppets, their opaque feature cannot reflect the colored light. But in Korea we adopted the specially colored semi-transparent Korean paper, which gives the colored shadows to spectators. Mansukjung Nolum consists of three acts for arousing attention of fallen monks destroying the teaching of Buddha. Seosanbakchumji Nolum is a puppet performance inherited in a village in Seosan, Choongnam instead of wandering artists. The story and form of performance in Namsadangpae's puppet play is mostly similar to it, but it is woven by its villages natural environment and specific dialects, reflecting their consciousness in mind. The villagers made the puppets and manipulate them in communicating their wisdom of life between them. Parkchumji Nolum is a kind of integral art combining puppet manipulation, witticism, songs and dances. The hero of Parkchumji discloses the social and structural conflicts of feudalism, in arousing the spectators' rich attention of self-awareness and lessons.
Wangeja Chulgungdo (The Painting for a Crown Prince's Outgoing for Schooling to Sungkyunkwan) for this study which is held by the Korean university Museum is a kind of documentary paintings which not only have the value of art history but also give a glimpse of the court ceremonies for a Crown Prince. This painting offers various historical clues to understand the procedure for a Crown Prince's official entrance of Sungkyunkwan participants of the ceremony and other ceremony-related items$\ulcorner$Wangseja chulgungdo$\lrcorner$ was the painting drawn for a series of court procedures of Crown Prince Munjo's official en-trance of Sungkynkwan. When he was old enough to begin learning Sohak on March 11. 1817 that is ; he held Heonjakrye(a ceremony for offering drinks to the ancestors) at Munmyo passed Iphakye(a ceremony for en-trance of school) at Myungryundang and received Suharye the next day. $\ulcorner$Wangseja Chulgungdo$\lrcorner$ had the strong char-acteristics of documentary paintings in terms of art history which was intended to leave the historical event of a Crown Prince's entrance. It reflected the traits of documentary painting style in late Chosun Dynasty; a technique that strongly relieved the ceremonial scenes against the background such as mountains and rivers; a painting that not only captured the vivid actions of personalities ar the crucial moment of the ceremony but also depicted the cer-emonial vessels and items very realistically. Authors could confirm the ceremonial think-ing of the traditional society through a Crown Prince's entrance which controlled the details of every part of the performances of the court ceremony.
The purpose of this study is to perform historical reconstruction of the court dress coat in the Daehan Empire in order to make replicas of the artifacts. Following steps were undertaken in the study : literature research of the laws of the era, drawing of the design, embroidering gold work, and tailoring of the coat. Embroidering and tailoring experts were consulted to complete an accurate reconstruction of the dress court. The results of this study are as follows. First, Juimgwan's coat, which was the Court Costume Rule in 1905 was selected as an experimental coat. It was revision of the Court Costume Rule in 1900. The process of selection was based on the amount and easiness of embroidery. Second, the design of the back bodice, chevron, pockets and collar is reflected the pattern of the preceding research, which was analyzed from the laws, the drawing document[Gwanbokjandoan], and artifacts. Third, the gold work embroidery in the back bodice, chevron, pockets and collar was done. The embroidery material were composed of gold threads, such as rough purl, smooth purl, check purl, pearl purl, rococo, and spangle. Couching was used as an embroidery method. The coat was tailored after embroidering. The coat and the buttons were made after analyzing the artifacts. The result of this study can be utilized in the field of historical reconstruction of artifacts in the museum, the designing of stage costume in the performances of reenactment events, drama, and movie of Daehan Empire. Furthermore, this study is anticipated to contribute to the fundamental research of culture contents.
