Finding Pluto: An Analytics-Based Approach to Safety Data Ecosystems

  • This review article addresses the role of safety professionals in the diffusion strategies for predictive analytics for safety performance. The article explores the models, definitions, roles, and relationships of safety professionals in knowledge application, access, management, and leadership in safety analytics. The article addresses challenges safety professionals face when integrating safety analytics in organizational settings in four operations areas: application, technology, management, and strategy. A review of existing conventional safety data sources (safety data, internal data, external data, and context data) is briefly summarized as a baseline. For each of these data sources, the article points out how emerging analytic data sources (such as Industry 4.0 and the Internet of Things) broaden and challenge the scope of work and operational roles throughout an organization. In doing so, the article defines four perspectives on the integration of predictive analytics into organizational safety practice: the programmatic perspective, the technological perspective, the sociocultural perspective, and knowledge-organization perspective. The article posits a four-level, organizational knowledge-skills-abilities matrix for analytics integration, indicating key organizational capacities needed for each area. The work shows the benefits of organizational alignment, clear stakeholder categorization, and the ability to predict future safety performance.

간호대학생을 위한 임상수행 자기효능감 척도 개발 및 타당도, 신뢰도 검증 (Development and psychometric evaluation of Clinical Practice Self-Efficacy Scale for nursing students)

  • Purpose: The COVID-19 pandemic has increased the importance of nurses' clinical performance, and accordingly, nursing educators have emphasized students' clinical practice and performance. This study developed a Clinical Practice Self-Efficacy Scale for nursing students and examined its psychometric properties. Methods: The authors reviewed instruments for selecting items for the scale in the areas of clinical skills, communication, infection control, safety, and nursing process. After preliminary items were selected, ten experts consisting of nursing professors and clinical nurses reviewed the items considering Korean clinical and educational situations. The data for the psychometric evaluation was collected from 257 nursing students in their 2nd, 3rd, and 4th years and then analyzed. Results: The confirmatory factor analysis showed that the goodness of fit of this scale with five factors represented by 40 items was appropriate. The significant positive correlations with general self-efficacy indicated sound construct validity. The senior nursing students showed higher scores than others, as we expected. Cronbach's alpha was .94. Conclusion: The Clinical Practice Self-Efficacy Scale is appropriate for measuring Korean nursing students' self-efficacy of clinical practice. It is expected to act as a good tool to measure the effects of clinical practice education.

Determinant Factors for Fourth Industrial Revolution (4IR) Leadership Attributes: An Empirical Study from Malaysia

  • Most leadership styles are generally designed to enhance the cognitive and behavioral skills of leaders with the implicit assumption that this would ultimately translate into high performance. As we are moving towards Industry 4.0, organizations must employ leadership styles that will help the organization succeed. Thus, the objective of this paper is to confirm the determinant factors for Fourth Industrial Revolution (4IR) leadership attributes in Malaysian manufacturing companies. Stratified sampling was used to select the sample. Data was collected using the online survey method, where the response rate was 43 percent. The respondents consisted of respondents aged from 31-40 years old, with 69 respondents. In terms of race, the highest number of respondents are the Malays. Questionnaires were distributed to middle and top-level managers from manufacturing companies which were listed in the Federation of Malaysian Manufacturers (FMM). Confirmatory Factor Analysis (CFA) was used to confirm the reliability and validity of the construct. Based on the analysis, 66 items could be used to measure the 4IR leadership attributes. The validation of 4IR leadership can also provide predictive implications on improving leaders' performance, given the different attributes confirmed by the findings.

Improving safety performance of construction workers through cognitive function training

  • Due to the aging workforce in the construction industry in South Korea, the accident rate has been increasing. The cognitive abilities of older workers are closely related to both safety incidents and labor productivity. Therefore, there is a need to improve cognitive abilities through personalized training based on cognitive assessment results, using cognitive training content, in order to enable safe performance in labor-intensive environments. The provided cognitive training content includes concentration, memory, oreintation, attention, and executive functions. Difficulty levels were applied to each content to enhance user engagement and interest. To stimulate interest and encourage active participation of the participants, the difficulty level was automatically adjusted based on feedback from the MMSE-DS results and content measurement data. Based on the accumulated data, individual training scenarios have been set differently to intensively improve insufficient cognitive skills, and cognitive training programs will be developed to reduce safety accidents at construction sites through measured data and research. Through such simple cognitive training, it is expected that the reduction of accidents in the aging construction workforce can lead to a decrease in the social costs associated with prolonged construction periods caused by accidents.

해군 고정익조종사의 비행 훈련 주기에 따른 비행 효과 분석 (Analysis of Flight Performance and Efficiency according tothe Number of Consecutive Flight of Navy Pilots)

  • In the case of the Navy, if some of the co-pilots are included in the long-term promotion process due to the limited number of co-pilots, operational flight and administrative tasks will be added to the co-pilots not included in the rest of the Pilot in commander process. Therefore, to solve this problem, the co-pilot who has passed the PQS step-by-step process minimizes the personnel gap in the flight operation unit through a system that evaluates whether it is possible to perform its duties as a co-pilot through actual flight after entering the school. The advantage of the PQS course is that you can control flight plans on your own and minimize gaps in flight and ground work while carrying out the curriculum, but you can't focus on education or improve your skills due to irregular training flight cycles. Therefore, in this study, after collecting opinions on effective flight cycles through a survey of pilots of P-3C, the Navy's fixed-wing aircraft representative, we will analyze the association of aircraft volume performance by flight cycle to derive the optimal flight cycle of the P-3C pilot course.

  • In the construction industry, due to the nature of the job, the need for job training to maximize the performance of the job and to improve the organization's qualifications is needed to acquire professional knowledge that is practiced according to the training needs of the members of the organization. In the form of education, the government or the government or the government provides systematic and planned professional job training that is implemented to improve qualifications and instill pride in the profession by helping the employees of the design office acquire new knowledge, skills, and attitudes necessary for professional performance. Although it is recommended at the organizational level, as a result of examining the implementation, it was found that most workers did not receive job training activities. Therefore, follow-up studies that can maximize work efficiency at the individual and organizational level of design office workers should be continuously performed.

The Effects of Making Horcitultural Products and Selling Activities on Vocational Rehabilitation of Persons with Mental Disabilities

  • This study carried out a horticultural program for people with mental disabilities to determine suitability of the horticultural activity program and to actually apply to vocational rehabilitation. The program was carried out in 16 sessions from April 12 to June 7, 2018 with nine people with a strong will to participate in vocational rehabilitation at a health center for persons with mental disabilities. The tools used were the Horticultural Activity Performance Assessment (psychological behavior) and Purdue Pegboard Test that examines functions of hands and arms. The subjects sold the products they made during class time and obtained the profits. After the program, the scores increased with a significant difference (p = .000) in the psychological behavior area of the Horticultural Activity Performance Assessment. Hand and arm movement also showed continuous improvement along the program with a significant difference (p = .000), as well as finger dexterity also with a significant difference (p = .018). The net profit was 314,000 KRW (subtracting cost of goods 314,000 KRW from total sales 628,000 KRW). The profit was shared equally among the nine subjects, each receiving 34,900 KRW. Therefore this study proved horticultural activity class is suitable for vocational rehabilitation of people with mental disabilities proved by the positive effects. We also expect that the subjects will be able to make more profits if they learn more skills, since they are interested the process of making such profits.

생물학자와 과학영재의 실험설계활동에서 나타나는 과정요소 및 특성 분석 (The Analysis of the Process Elements and the Characteristics of Biologists' and Gifted Students' Designing Experiment Activities)

  • 이 연구는 생물학자와 과학영재의 실험설계활동에서 나타나는 과정요소와 특성을 분석한 것이다. 연구대상으로 동물행동생태를 전공한 생물학자 4명과 과학영재 생물반 학생 32명을 선정하였고, 연구를 위해 주어진 과제는 Fowler(1990)의 DCT이다. 그들의 실험설계활동과 관련된 모든 자료를 수집하였고, 이 자료를 분석하기 위한 분석틀을 개발하였다. 분석 결과, 첫째, 생물학자와 과학영재의 실험설계활동에서 나타난 과정요소는 문제 확인, 준비물 열거, 실험대상에 대한 고려, 변인 탐색, 변인 소거, 변인 선택, 변인 조작 방법 계획, 환경적 변인 통제 계획, 생물적 변인 통제 계획, 관찰 측정 방법 계획, 자료 수집 계획, 자료 해석 계획, 실험의 반복 계획, 측정의 반복 계획, 안전 수칙으로 총 15가지가 있다. 생물학자는 특정한 과정요소에 집중하는 반면, 과학영재는 정형화된 과정요소를 나타냈다. 둘째, 생물학자와 과학영재의 실험설계활동에서 나타난 특성을 종합하면 다음과 같다: 1) 생물학자와 과학영재 모두 영역특수적인 과정기술이 포함된 과정요소를 나타냈다. 2) 생물학자는 특정한 과정을 반복적으로 점검하면서 정교하게 실험을 설계하는 반면, 과학영재는 피상적으로 실험을 설계한다. 3) 생물학자는 영역특수적인 기술과 노하우를 가지고 있으나, 과학영재는 그렇지 않다. 이러한 결과는 과학영재의 실험설계활동 교육 프로그램은 생물학자들이 집중하는 과정요소를 중심으로 구성하고, 정교한 실험 설계를 할 수 있도록 피드백을 제공하고, 생물학자의 과정기술이나 노하우를 학습할 수 있는 형태로 개발되어야 함을 시사한다.

시운동기술에 관한 아동 작업치료의 체계적 고찰 (Occupational Therapy Strategies for Visual Motor Skills of Children: A Systematic Review)

  • 목적 : 체계적 고찰을 통해 시운동기술 평가를 위해 사용된 도구, 치료접근방법, 치료의 효과를 알아보고, 아동의 시운동 기술에 가장 적합한 치료방법과 평가도구를 제시하고자 한다. 연구 방법 : 체계적 고찰을 사용하였다. 2001년 1월부터 2010년 6월까지 학회지에 게재된 논문을 PubMed을 통하여 검색하였다. 주요 검색용어는"visual motor and occupational therapy", "visuomotor and occupational therapy"," perception and motor and occupational therapy"이었고, 161개의 논문 중 총 13개 논문을 대상으로 분석하였다. 결과 : 1. 시운동기술 치료가 필요한 대상 진단군은 발달장애아동이 20.00%로 가장 많았고, 글씨쓰기에 문제가 있는 아동이 13.33%이었다. 결과 : 2. 시운동기술을 측정하기 위해 사용된 평가도구는 Developmental Test of Visual Perception(DTVP)을 사용한 논문이 33.33%로 가장 많았고, Developmental Test of Visual Motor Integration(VMI)을 사용한 논문이 26.67%이었다. 결과 : 3. 시운동기술과 관련하여 가장 많이 사용된 치료접근방법은 발달적 기술기반 프로그램으로 58.82%를 차지 하였고, 감각통합과 감각기반 치료는 23.53%를 보였다. 결과 : 4. 시운동기술과 관련하여 작업치료 효과가 유의하게 나타난 경우는 72.73%이었고, 유의하지 않는 경우가 9.09%이었다. 부모 직접적 또는 간접적 접근과 집중행동 치료에서 효과가 유의하게 나타났다. 결론 : 아동 작업치료에서 시운동기술을 평가하기 위해 사용된 도구는 DTVP와 VMI가 60%를 차지하였고, 70%이 상에서 치료에 대한 효과가 있는 것으로 나타났다. 아동의 작업수행과 관련된 영역에 대한 작업치료의 효과를 분석하는 연구가 지속되어야 할 것으로 보인다.

DACUM 기법을 활용한 간호대학생의 학교현장실습 직무분석 (Job Analysis for Nursing Student in Pre-Service Health Education Teacher Practicum using DACUM Method)

  • 본 연구의 목적은 간호대학생의 초등학교 현장실습에 관한 직무 및 과업을 DACUM 기법을 활용하여 분석하고자 하였다. J도에 소재한 일 간호대학의 보건교사교직과정을 이수하고, 초등학교 현장실습과정을 수행한 간호학과 4학년을 대상으로 DACUM 워크숍을 실시하여 임무, 과업, 과업별 중요도, 난이도, 빈도 등의 직무내용을 분석하였고, 직무에 요구되는 지식, 기술, 태도, 도구, 장래전망과 특성을 도출하였다. 도출된 직무분석 내용은 J시, I시, G시 등의 학교현장전문가 7인과 교육학전공 교수 2인으로부터 내용타당도를 검증받았고, 이를 토대로 본 연구자가 DACUM 차트를 개발하였다. DACUM 차트는 6개 임무와 24개 과업으로 구성되었고, 직무수행에 필요한 지식, 기술, 태도 등이 도출되었다. 연구의 결과로는 초등학교 학교현장실습의 임무 중 건강관리는 가장 중요도가 높은 과업으로 산출되었고, 교수학습능력과 문서작업능력이 실습을 위한 기본적인 기술로 제시되었다. 학교현장에서의 보건교사의 전문성과 역할에 대한 중요도는 증가되므로 보건교육 향상 프로그램 개발을 위한 교육기관의 제도적 노력과 교육환경 개선 등의 뒷받침이 필요할 것으로 사료된다.
