Evaluation of running safety and measuring wheel/rail force for korean high speed railway vehicle (한국형 고속철도차량의 차륜/레일 작용력 측정 및 주행안전성 평가)

  • The railroad is a means of large transportation which has many latents such as a safety and a regularity. That is a results from various confidential performance tests and evaluations of the system. The railroad system consist of various subsystems - vehicle, power supply, signal, communications, track structures, operations, etc. Among them, as an item of safety evaluation there is a measurement of wheel/rail force, so called a measurement of derailment coefficient. This is a very important item because a derailment of a train will bring about a big accident. Especially it is more important in high speed rail of which operation speed is over two times as fast as existing rail. In this paper, it is introduced to preprocess the wheelset for measuring wheel/rail force of high speed rail, such as to treat a measuring wheelset, its finite element analysis, adhesion of strain gauges and static toad test, running test result of main line.

  • Location of stock in a warehouse directly affects the total materials handling expense of all goods moving through the warehouse. The purpose of this paper is to develop a storage policy in order picking warehouse, the block-based storage policy to minimize the total order picking time. In block-based storage policy, the rack is divided into blocks and items are assigned to each block based on the turn-over rate of each item and the average distance between the blocks and the dock. To demonstrate the performance of the proposed policy, we compare with the existing method called class-based storage policy under various matching methods.

  • Many firms are efficiently applying smart business technology and smart business model to their management activities in order to raise their business results in a smart business environment. Firm's smart business capability is very crucial for the efficient execution of its management activities and to improve the performance of business tasks in a global business environment. An evaluation framework is necessary for effectively evaluating a firm's smart business capability to manage and improve its smart business capability in a total smart business perspective. We generated the first 21-item based on previous literature. This research found an 11-item framework that can efficiently evaluate an enterprise smart business capability by verifying based on previous studies. This framework can be used for effectively evaluating a firm's smart business capability in a comprehensive perspective.

  • In recent years, research on collaborative filtering-based recommendation systems emphasized the accuracy of rating predictions, and this has led to an increase in computation time. As a result, such systems have divergeded from the original purpose of making quick recommendations. In this paper, we propose a recommendation algorithm that uses a Preference Difference Metric to reduce the computation time and to maintain adequate performance. The system recommends items according to their preference classification.

  • The purpose of this study is to develop the self-reported measurement for engineering design competency. In this study, engineering design competency is defined as the overall individual ability that is necessary for an engineer for his/her successful accomplishment of engineering design. This measurement was developed through reviewing documents, defining factor and sub-factor, making an item and constructing validity verification. The self-reported measurement for engineering design competency consists of 6 factors and 40 items. 6 factors cover competency of design performance, competency of considering economic and social influence, competency of utilizing mathematical and scientific knowledge, competency of teamwork, competency of design-centered thinking and competency of collecting and using data. A 6-points Likert scale was used for each item.

  • This paper addressed various issues related to the objectivity of student assessment in medical education. The objectivity of assessment was related to all the steps of test development, administration, and results reporting in terms of reliability and validity. Specifically, the objectivity of item formats, representativeness of test content, standardization of test administration, consistency of scoring procedures, and appropriateness of reporting test results were discussed by comparing performance assessment with traditional paper-and-pencil tests. The conclusions were derived from current measurement theories such as standards-based assessment, evidencebased design, and outcome-based assessment. Further, based on Shepard's propositions (2006), the objectivity of student assessment could be achieved by improving the concordance between educational objectives and assessment components such as item types, test contents, and test administration, scoring, and reporting.

  • This paper deals with a centralized warehouse problem with multi-item and capacity constraint. The objective of this paper is to decide the number and location of centralized warehouses and determineorder quantity (Q), reorder point (r) of each centralized warehouse to minimize holding, setup, penalty, and transportation costs. Each centralized warehouse uses continuous review inventory policy and its budget is limited. A SA (Simulated Annealing) approach is developed and its performance is tested by using some computational experiments.

  • With the increase in the demand for sustainable and environmentally-friendly development, Green Building Certification System came into force in 2002, Evaluation parts of Green Building Certification System are divided into land use and transportation, energy, ecological environment, and indoor environment. Alloted point for the part of energy is larger than other part, thus we can say that this part is very important to increase the green building performance. This study aims to analyze the present condition of design and construction for the part of energy in the certificated green school building. Total 40 certificated school buildings were selected and average scoring rate of each item was evaluated. Key particular to be considered were suggested to improve the item of energy consumption.
