On the Improvement of the Process by Analyzing Precision Diagnosis of Deteriorated Railroad Communication Facilities

  • Railroad Systems, which are national infrastructure industries, cause unexpected property and human damage if they fail to function while operating. Accordingly, railroad facilities supporting the railroad system are areas where high reliability and safety are required. However, it is time for systematic and scientific maintenance to be taken away from the traditional maintenance methods, as the nation's railroad facilities are now aging seriously. The purpose of this study was to secure the safety and reliability of the aging railroad communication facilities and to improve their performance. The research subjects were selected as a precision diagnosis process for railroad communication facilities, and improvement points were derived through detailed precision diagnosis process analysis. It is deemed that this study can contribute based on securing stability, improving reliability, and continuous improvement of railroad communication facilities should be conducted in the operation of the entire railroad system.

  • Facility management is to maintain and develop the primary structural, functional, aesthetic performance of facility in order to guaranty the users' daily convenience and safety. However it is hard to maintain and serve their intended function and safe environment from the beginning as times go by. As present educational government of city and local area has been performing formally facility check and management as well as maintenance of school facility, it is hard to respond a dangerous situation at the suitable time and safety prevention plans are delayed. In addition, educational environment improving budget have been unreasonably decided not according to the allocating criteria. Therefore, this research developed a same, simple, and quantitative evaluation method of deterioration level of elementary, middle, and high School in Korea and verified usability of the method through the case study.

  • In this paper, the Hardware-In-The-Loop Simulation(HILS) of missile systems are studied. The HILS is an effective performance evaluation technique that bridges the simulation fidelity gap between analytic all-digital simulations and actual flight tests of missile systems. The HILS may be required to perform system integration tests, performance evaluation at system or subsystem level. Major elements of this HILS facility will include the flight table, simulation computers, I/O computer and peripheral equipments. HILS of missile systems typically involve computer modeling of flight dynamics coupled with a hardware guidance and control(G/C) systems. This paper describes a real time performance evaluation technique of a G/C system, Development of a HILS for a Autopilot of SAM G/C will be used as an example.

  • A study of uncertainty analysis was conducted on four key thermophysical properties of molten Platinum using a noncontacting levitation technique. More specifically, this work demonstrates a detailed reporting of the uncertainties associated with the density, volumetric thermal expansion coefficient, surface tension and viscosity measurements at higher temperatures for a widely used refractory metal, Platinum using electrostatic levitation (ESL). The microgravity experiments were conducted using JAXA's Electrostatic Levitation Furnace (ELF) facility on the International Space Station and the terrestrial experiments were conducted using NASA's Marshal Space Flight Center's ESL facility. The performance of these two facilities were then quantified based on the measurement precision and accuracy using the metrological International Standards Organization's Guide to the Expression of Uncertainty Measurement (GUM) principles.

  • Military facilities with masonry have a great portion in the whole military facilities. But lots of them have been used for more than 20 years, the degree of deterioration of the facilities are serious. Futhermore, as insufficient budget for the facilities maintenance and poor maintenance, the performance of the aged masonry facilities have continually decreased. We suggest a structural performance assessment criteria for the military facility through literature review, interview with experts and questionnaire. The major assessment factors for the structural performance include the inclining and sinking degree of the facilities, durability of materials and resisting force of the structural members.

  • This paper deals with a performance evaluation model of transporters in refrigerate warehouse. This study focussed on determining refrigerate warehouse design to minimize the expected travel time to improve the transporter performance and to minimize the operating costs. This study proposes the important detail aspects of refrigerate warehouse design, operational parameters and congestions. For solving this problem, we have shown a mathematical model to compute the initial value of the system performance and also a simulation model using AutoMod. A systematic approach proposed in this study for an optimal planning of order-picking warehouse is known as an effective method for the planning of order-picking warehouse and a performance evaluation problem of refrigerate warehouse operation.

  • Increasing social needs for outdoor recreation require not only additional developments but proper evaluation of the existing facilities and management policy. As an evaluation technique, this paper examines Importance Performance. Analysis developed in Marketing field for evaluating facilities and services of a national park. L sing the data gathered by personal interview to the Kayasan National Park visitors in 1989, evaluation of 10 facility/service items by visitors are illustrated graphically. Based on the information, new management strategies are suggested.

  • A liquid rocket engine goes through many tests to prove its performance before liftoff. It means the tests for setting ignition and start-up conditions or a test on design condition, which verifies the design performance. However, the development process requires verification of performance under off-design conditions through tests involving different operating conditions, which affects the duration of engine development. The off-design performance test is performed by altering the conditions of the propellant supplied to the engine in conjunction with the engine performance test that varies the opening of the control valves in the engine. This paper is based on the results of the engine tests performed at the KSLV-II engine test facilities in the Naro Space Center and describes the operations of the test facility for off-design condition test that changes the inlet conditions of the turbo-pump due to changes in the pressure and temperature of the propellant supplied to the test engines.

Evaluation of Performance Index for Optimization of Food Waste Treatment and Recovery Facility (음식물류폐기물 자원화시설 최적화를 위한 이행지표 평가)

  • This research was performed to evaluate the food waste recovery facility using optimization performance index. In 2014, the generated amount of food waste occupied approximately 27% in total municipal solid waste. The 97.2% of the food waste was recycled and the others were treated through landfill and incineration in the portion of 0.9% and 1.9%, respectively. In food waste recovery facilities of year 2014, the composting and feed facilities were 49.5% and 22.9%, respectively. The feed facility showed higher scores in all technological, environmental, and especially economical evaluations than those of composting facility. As results of overall optimization performance index, the feed facility has higher score of 61.5 than 52.7 of composting facility. It was demonstrated that the feed facility has the advantage, compared with the composting facility.

  • A HILS(Hardware-In-the-Loop Simulation) technique for an IR guided weapon is proposed. The IR HILS facility functions as a testing unit for a missile guidance and control system to evaluate target acquisition, tracking, and countermeasure performance. The configuration of IR HILS facility, modeling technique of an IR environment including target, background and countermeasure, and test and evaluation procedure are included.
