The present work focuses multi-objective optimization of blade sweep for a Wells turbine. The blade-sweep parameters at the mid and the tip sections are selected as design variables. The peak-torque coefficient and the corresponding efficiency are the objective functions, which are maximized. The numerical analysis has been carried out by solving 3D RANS equations based on k-w SST turbulence model. Nine design points are selected within a design space and the simulations are run. Based on the computational results, surrogate-based weighted average models are constructed and the population based multi-objective evolutionary algorithm gave Pareto optimal solutions. The peak-torque coefficient and the corresponding efficiency are enhanced, and the results are analysed using CFD simulations. Two extreme designs in the Pareto solutions show that the peak-torque-coefficient is increased by 28.28% and the corresponding efficiency is decreased by 13.5%. A detailed flow analysis shows the separation phenomena change the turbine performance.

In this studies, Dapped End Beams(DEB) having disturbed regions were designed by using strut tie model, and the main purpose of this paper is that whether T-headed bars and Steel fibers will be present or not. The ability of DEB with T-headed bars have a superior performance rather than others, such as improved ductility, larger energy adsorption and enhanced post-peak load carrying capability. The capacity of DEB with steel fibers also show increase of ductility, shear strength, fatigue strength and crack. Each DEB with both headed bars and steel fibers, headed bars, and steel fibers as a substitute reinforced steel in the disturbed regions and a DEB with only stirrup and tie reinforced steel were comparable. In contrast, the headed bar stirrups, the tie headed bars and the reinforced steel fibers did not lose their anchorage and hence were able to develop strain hardening and also served to delay buckling of the flexural compression steel. Excellent load-deflection predictions were obtained by increasing the tension stiffening effect to account for high load effects.

This paper represents modeling and optimization techniques for solar cell process on single-crystalline float zone (FZ) wafers with high efficiency; There were the four significant processes : i)emitter formation by diffusion, anti-reflection-coating (ARC) with silicon nitride using plasma-enhanced chemical vapor deposition (PECVD); iii)screen-printing for front and back metallization; and iv)contact formation by firing. In order to increase the performance of solar cells, the contact formation process is modeled and optimized. This paper utilizes the design of experiments (DOE) in contact formation to reduce process time, fabrication costs. The experiments were designed by using central composite design which is composed of $2^4$ factorial design augmented by 8 axial points with three center points. After contact formation process, the efficiency of the solar cell is modeled using neural networks. This model is used to analyse the characteristics of the process, and to optimize the process condition using genetic algorithms (GA). Finally, find optimal recipe for solar cell efficiency.

This study is to develop and evaluate an AFS and an ARS controllers to enhance lateral stability of a vehicle. A sliding mode control (SMC) and a fuzzy logic control (FLC) methods are applied to calculate the desired additional steering angle of AFS equipped vehicle or desired rear steer angle of ARS equipped vehicle. To validate AFS and ARS systems, an eight degree of freedom, nonlinear vehicle model and an ABS controllers are also used. Several road conditions are used to test the performances. The results showed that the yaw rate of the AFS and the ARS vehicle followed the reference yaw rate very well within the adhesion limit. However, the AFS improves the lateral stability near the limit compared with the ARS. Because the SMC and the FLC show similar vehicle responses, performance discrimination is small. On split-${\mu}$ road, the AFS and the ARS vehicle had enhanced the lateral stability.
This paper presents results for impedance (and compliance) functions and input motions of foundations in a layered half-space computed on the basis of a procedure that combines a consistent transmitting boundary with continued-fraction absorbing boundary conditions which are accurate and effective in modeling wave propagation in various unbounded domains. The effects of obliquely incident seismic waves in a layered half-space are taken into account in the formulation of the transmitting boundary. Using the numerical model, impedance (and compliance) functions and input motions of rigid circular foundations on the surface of or embedded in a homogeneous half-space are computed and compared with available published results for verification of the procedure. Extrapolation methods are proposed to improve the performance in the very-low-frequency range and for the static condition. It is concluded from the applications that accurate analysis of foundation dynamics and soil-structure interaction in a layered half-space can be carried out using the enhanced consistent transmitting boundary and the proposed extrapolations.

Although radar target signatures(RTS), such as range profiles have played an important role for target recognition in the X-band radar, they would be less effective when a target is designed to have low radar cross section(RCS). Recently, a number of research groups have conducted the studies on the RTS in the VHF-band where such targets can be better detected than in the X-band. However, there is a lack of work carried out on the mathematical description of the VHF-band RTS. In this paper, chirplet decomposition is employed for modeling of the VHF-band RTS and its performance is compared with that of existing scattering center model generally used for the X-band. In addition, the discriminative signal analysis is performed by chirplet parameterization of range profiles from in an ISAR image. Because the chirplet decomposition takes long computation time, its fast form is further proposed for enhanced practicality.
Building footprint extraction is an active topic in the domain of remote sensing, since buildings are a fundamental unit of urban areas. Deep convolutional neural networks successfully perform footprint extraction from optical satellite images. However, semantic segmentation produces coarse results in the output, such as blurred and rounded boundaries, which are caused by the use of convolutional layers with large receptive fields and pooling layers. The objective of this study is to generate visually enhanced building objects by directly extracting the vertices of individual buildings by combining instance segmentation and keypoint detection. The target keypoints in building extraction are defined as points of interest based on the local image gradient direction, that is, the vertices of a building polygon. The proposed framework follows a two-stage, top-down approach that is divided into object detection and keypoint estimation. Keypoints between instances are distinguished by merging the rough segmentation masks and the local features of regions of interest. A building polygon is created by grouping the predicted keypoints through a simple geometric method. Our model achieved an F1-score of 0.650 with an mIoU of 62.6 for building footprint extraction using the OpenCitesAI dataset. The results demonstrated that the proposed framework using keypoint estimation exhibited better segmentation performance when compared with Mask R-CNN in terms of both qualitative and quantitative results.

Various surface colors are predicted and implemented using the interference color generated by controlling the thickness of nano-level diamond like carbon (DLC) thin film. Samples having thicknesses of up to 385 nm and various interference colors are prepared using a single crystal silicon (100) substrate with changing processing times at low temperature by plasma-enhanced chemical vapor deposition. The thickness, surface roughness, color, phases, and anti-scratch performance under each condition are analyzed using a scanning electron microscope, colorimeter, micro-Raman device, and scratch tester. Coating with the same uniformity as the surface roughness of the substrate is possible over the entire experimental thickness range, and more than five different colors are implemented at this time. The color matched with the color predicted by the model, assuming only the reflection mode of the thin film. All the DLC thin films show constant D/G peak fraction without significant change, and have anti-scratch values of about 19 N. The results indicate the possibility that nano-level DLC thin films with various interference colors can be applied to exterior materials of actual mobile devices.

In the recent past enormous enterprise applications have migrated into the cloud computing (CC). The researchers have contributed to this ever growing technology and as a result several innovations strengthened to offer the quality of service (QoS) as per the demand of the customer. It was treated that management of resources as the major challenge to offer the QoS while focusing on the trade-offs among the performance, availability, reliability and the cost. Apart from these regular key focuses to meet the QoS other key issues in CC are data integrity, privacy, transparency, security and legal aspects (DIPTSL). This paper aims to carry out the literature survey by reflecting on the prior art of the work with regard to QoS in CC and possible implementation of block chain to implement decentralised CC solutions governing DIPTSL as an integral part of QoS.
Reinforced concrete (RC) columns are the primary type of vertical support used in building structures that sustain vertical loads. However, their strength may be insufficient due to fire, earthquake or volatile environments. The load demand may be increased due to new functional usages of the structure. The deformability of concrete columns can be greatly reduced under high axial load conditions. In response, a novel steel encasement that distinguishes from the traditional steel jacketing that is assembled by welding or bolt is developed. This novel strengthening method features easy installation and quick strengthening because direct fastening is used to connect the four steel plates surrounding the column. This new connection method is usually used to quickly and stably connect two steel components by driving high strength fastener into the steel components. The connections together with the steel plates behave like transverse reinforcement, which can provide passive confinement to the concrete. The confined column along with the steel plates resist the axial load. By this way, the axial load capacity and deformability of the column can be enhanced. Eight columns are tested to examine the reliability and effectiveness of the proposed method. The effects of the vertical spacing between adjacent connections, thickness of the steel plate and number of fasteners in each connection are studied to identify the critical parameters which affect the load bearing performance and deformation behavior. Lastly, a theoretical model is proposed for predicting the axial load capacity of the strengthened RC columns.
