The purpose of this study is to find the characteristics of design council criteria of metropolitan cities in Koreas. For comparative analysis, four main concepts are used ; 1) self-administering vs discretionary 2) prescriptive vs performance 3) conformity vs contrast 4) point system of criteria. The results of this study were as follows; 1) there were three types of cirteria; strong discretionary (DG), discretionary oriented (BS, US) and combination type (SL, DJ, ICN, GJ) 2) structural properties of forms are controlled by prescriptive criteria, and layout or design elements by performance criteria 3) visual openness and diversity are main items of most metropolitan cities 4) street-faced design was neglected but tended to focus on the self-contained layout 5) visual density indexes were diversified from elevation blockage degree. For further advanced research, it is necessary to investigate the actual effects and differences of regulative types - prescriptive vs performance, and of each design criteria, especially prescriptive ones in improving the design quality.

It is not easy to select a linear mixed model since the main interest for model building could be different and the number of parameters in the model could not be clearly defined. In this paper, performance of conditional Akaike Information Criteria and its bias-corrected version are compared with marginal Bayesian and Akaike Information Criteria through a simulation study. The results from the simulation study indicate that bias-corrected conditional Akaike Information Criteria shows promising performance when candidate models exclude large models containing the true model, but bias-corrected one prefers over-parametrized models more intensively when a set of candidate models increases. Marginal Bayesian and Akaike Information Criteria also have some difficulty to select the true model when the design for random effects is nested.

In this paper, criteria for better selection of a supercapacitor through EIS (Electrochemical Impedance Spectroscopy) experiments are presented. The performance characteristics of a supercapacitor are thoroughly analyzed in terms of losses and available energy to select the optimal product. The validity of the proposed criteria is demonstrated through the computer simulations and experiments on a fuel cell vehicle using a supercapacitor module with the FTP-72 urban dynamometer driving schedule.

A apparel retail buyer played an important role in the market by providing apparel products for consumers and acting as an specialist who selected the vendor and decided the apparel product assortment. The purpose of this study was to investigate the relationships among the vendor selection criteria and information sources used by retailers and the satisfaction with store performance. A questionnaire was developed based on the previous studies and pretest. Data were collected from 237 retailers for women's apparel living in Pusan. Results indicated that they didn't significantly relate among the vendor selection criteria, information sources and the satisfaction with store performance except the harmony of buying products and existing products. Only the age and the buying experience showed significance in relation to demographics of apparel retailers among the vendor selection criteria, information sources and the satisfaction with store performance. The information source affected the vendor selection criteria was the street fashion, the apparel of entertainers, the other apparel buyer, and the owner of production. The findings had implications for retailers as well as for researchers.

The purpose of this study was to test the applicability of the HSPEXP model performance criteria for calibrating hydrologic parameters of HSPF. Baran watershed, located at Whasung city, was selected as a study watershed in this study. Input data for the HSPF model were obtained from the digital elevation map, landuse map, soil map and others. Water flow data from 1996 to 2000 was used for calibration and from 2002 to 2007 was for validation. Using the HSPEXP decision-support software, hydrology parameters were adjusted based on total volume, then low flows, storm flows, and finally seasonal flows. Suggested criteria for each model performance variables were referenced from the previous research. For the calibration period, all the HSPEXP model performance criteria were satisfied while two criteria were slightly violated for the validation period.

Since its introduction in Korea, design VE has widely been used as a means to enhance values in the construction industry. However, a greater emphasis is still placed on cost reduction in approach attitudes and performance evaluations on the implementation of design VE. In this regard, this study presented a performance evaluation method for cost, function, and value of VE proposals. Numerical criteria on the increase and decrease of cost and function that can classify the value enhancement type of VE proposals were proposed based on the performance evaluation method. It is expected that the use of numerical criteria for the type classification of VE proposal, and cost and performance evaluation method proposed in this study will make it possible to conduct a clear and more intuitive evaluation of VE proposal. However, it is appropriate to use the numerical criteria as a guideline to apply the new performance evaluation method for VE proposals. Therefore, it is necessary to conduct a statistical analysis with a wider range of users after the repeated application of the findings of this study, and thus to carry out research for presenting the numerical criteria for various types of users.

Korea Military Academy has been using College Scholastic Ability Test(CSAT) and High School Grades(HSG) with other measures such as an Essay-type Test(ET), Physical Test(PT) and Personal Interview(PI) as criteria for entrance. The purpose of study is to investigate the properness of the criteria in admission decisions by examining the relationship between the college GPA and criteria, and the prediction of academic performance. The study showed that CSAT and HSG are significantly correlated with the college GPA, and these two criteria are better predictors for academic performance. Regression analysis also provided an important message that HSG is a better predictor than CSAT.

Since the General Administration of Quality Supervision, Inspection and Quarantine of the People's Republic of China published the GB/T19580-2004: Criteria for Excellence Performance of China, many enterprises in China have adopted the Criteria to enhance their organization business management and to assess or self-assess organization performance. On the bases of both the Criteria for Excellence Performance of China and the survey data from China Association for Quality (CAQ), this paper systematically explores the relationships among 'leadership', 'strategy planning', 'customer and market', 'information, analysis and improvement', 'resources management', 'process management', and 'performance results' by using structural equations modeling and validates some of the anecdotal beliefs in quality management. This quantitative analysis provides a guideline for organizations in China to identify causal linkage among core value of total quality management and to identify strengths, deficiency, and opportunities to enhance competitive advantages and ensure the future business success.

This study clarified a study of relationship of strategic alliance structure factor, partner selection criteria and performance awareness on the container liners alliance. In order to obtain such objective of study existing literature variables suitable to the container liner were perused and extracted. Research models for research development and three study hypothesis were set out and scope of investigation and samples were chosen. The research hypothesis are followings. H1: The factors of strategic alliance motivation influence the performance awareness. H2: The strategic alliance structure factors influence the performance awareness. H3: The factors of partner selection criteria influence the performance awareness. In the result of the empirical study, the hypothesis 1, hypothesis 2 were supported completely and hypothesis 3 was partially supported.

A numerical approach combining the finite element method with two different stability criteria namely the Budiansky and the phase-plane buckling criteria is used to study the dynamic buckling phenomena of plate and shell structures subjected to sudden applied loading. In the finite element analysis an explicit time integration scheme is used and the two criteria are implemented in the Finite Element analysis. The dynamic responses of the plate and shell structures have been investigated for different values of the plate and shell imperfection factors. The results indicate that the dynamic buckling time, which is normally considered in predicting elasto-plastic buckling behavior, should be taken into consideration with the buckling criteria for elastic buckling analysis of plate and shell structures. By selecting proper control variables and incorporating them with two dynamic buckling criteria, the unique dynamic buckling load can be obtained and the problems of ambiguity and contradiction of dynamic buckling load of plate and shell structure can be resolved.
