The experiment was carried out to investigate weed occurrence in peony field. The number of weeds was Compositate 9 species, Gramineae 4 species, Craciferae 3 species, Eugarviaceae, Polygonaceae and Scrophularilaceae 2 species, respectively. Weeds classified by life cycle were annual weed 19 species (57.6%), biennial weed 8 species (24.2%), and perennial weed 6 species (18.2%). Weed species and dominance rate by morphological characteristics were grass weed 4 species (12.1%), broad leaf weed 25 species (84.8%), and sedge weed 1 species (3.1 %) . Major dominant weeds were Capsella bursa-pastoris, Chemopodium album var. centrorubrum and Equisetum arvense in late April, and Digitaria sanguinalis, Erigeron canadensis and Echinochlor crus-galli in late June, and Digitaria sanguinalis, Erigeron canadensis and Echinochlor crus-galli in middle August.
No-tillage direct seeding of rice is consumed less labor and oil energy by no plowing and rotary tillage. And it has other advantages of soil and water conservation and accumulation of organic matter on paddy surface due to crowded water foxtail (Alopecurus aequalis var. amurensis). When no-tillage seeding of rice, many water foxtail occurred in winter paddy field. In this experiment their covering degrees were 97.6% and 95.2% in clay loam and sandy loam paddy soils, respectively. Because of this, Stellaria alsine var. undulata, Cardamine flexuosa, Rorippa indica and Ixeris chinensis etc. annual and perennial wintering weeds occurrence was reduced. And annual weeds Chenopodium serotinum and Polygonum hydropiper that occurred early in spring were also reduced. As well as Echinochloa crusgalli var. praticola, Cyperus difformis, Monochoria vaginalis and Lindernia procumbens etc. summer annual weeds that occurred after irrigation were also reduced. In conclusion, no-tillage direct seeding of rice has another advantages of weed management by water foxtail.
This study was conducted in order to utilize the basic data for weed control by surveying the occurrence of weed species and the degree of damages caused by those weeds occurred in cultivated Coix lacryma-jobi var. mayuen fields. Survey was carried out three times, from June to September in 2013. The weed flora was composed of a total of 98 weeds, 33 family, of which 58 species were annual, 21 species were biennial, and 19 were perennial plants. Thirty-one exotic species were included as well. Dominance was the highest with Digitaria ciliaris followed by Acalypha australis, Echinochloa crus-galli, Portulaca oleracea, Bidens frondosa etc. in order. In the PCA plot analysis, weeds occurred in C. lacryma-jobi var. mayuen fields were divided into three groups, Panicum dichotomitlorum community, Echinochloa crus-galli-Sigesbeckia pubescens community and Acalypha australis community. Yield of C. lacryma-jobi var. mayuen was reduced 60% in no weeding plots comparing to that in weed management plots.
This study was conducted in order to utilize the basic data for weed control by surveying the occurrence of weed species and the degree of damages caused by those weeds occurred in cultivated Ligularia fischeri fields. Survey was carried out five times, on May, June, July, August and October in 2013. The weed flora was composed of a total of 104 weeds, 37 families, of which 55 species were annual, 25 species were biennial, and 24 were perennial plants. Twenty-six exotic species were included as well. Dominance was the highest with Chenopodium album followed by Stellaria aquatica, Echiochloa crus-galli, Conyza canadensis, and Artemisia princeps etc. in order. In the PCA plot analysis, weeds occurred in cultivated L. fischeri fields were divided into three groups, Persicaria thunbergii-Bidens frondosa community, Chenopodium album community and Capsella bursapastoris community. The degree of damages in cultivated L. fischeri fields was investigated by weighing roots of L. fischeri. We found that 56% decreased root weight in no weeding plots comparing to that in weed management plots. We infer from this result that decreased roots will affect to the growing of L. fischeri in following year.
This experiment was conducted to know critical sowing depth and emergence day under different sowing depth at Crop Experiment Station, Suweon, in 1982. Tested weed species were Sagittaria pygnaea, Eleocharis kuroguwai, Cyperus serotinus and Potamageton distinetus, sowing depth of weeds were 5cm, 10cm, 15cm, 20cm and 25cm Critical emergence sowing depth of S. pygnaea, E. kuroguwai was 15cmand C. serotinus was 20cm sowing depth while P. distintus was 25cm sowing depth. Average emergence days under 5cm sowing depth for E. kurogwai, S. pygmaea, P. distintus and C. serotinus was 27.8 days, 14.1 days, 13.6 days and 7.3 days. While, relationships between sowing depth and day to emergence was positively correlated. Gernination percent of weeds under Critical emergence sowing depth, S. pygmaea, E. kurogwai and, P. distinctus was 57%, 67%, 80%, but C. serotinu.s was all died.
The weed flora in the Codonopsis lanceolata upland fields were surveyed in Hoengseong and Jeju in May, August, and October of 2014. The objectives of this study were to use the survey data for establishing weed control methods and to bring awareness of possible problematic weeds occurred in C. lanceolata upland fields in Korea. Altogether 207 weed species of 47 families were identified, of which 87 were annual, 47 species were biennial and 73 were perennial. Based on the morphological characteristic of the leaves, 182 species were broad leaves, 18 species were grasses, and 7 species were sedges. The dominance was highest in the Artemisia princeps followed by Digitaria ciliaris, Commelina communis, Persicaria longiseta and Echinochloa crus-galli etc. Fifty-nine species were exotic weeds with 29% of a total presence, of which Erigeron annuus was highest, followed by Crassocephalum crepidioides, Bidens frondosa, Hypochaeris radicata etc. In the PCA plot, weeds presented in the C. lanceolata upland fields of Hoengseong were divided into three groups, E. annuus, Sigesbeckia pubescence and C. communis communities and those of Jeju were divided into four groups, C. crepidioides-Cyperus iria, Spergula arvensis, Poa annua and Youngia japonica communities.
The weed flora in the mulberry fields were investigated in Suwon, Jeonju, and Buan in May, July, and September of 2014. The objectives of this study were to use the survey data for establishing weed control methods and to bring awareness of possible problematic weeds in the Korean mulberry fields. The survey was conducted in 53 regions, covering approximately $145,925m^2$. Altogether 153 weed species of 37 families were identified, of which 68 were annual, 39 species were biennial and 46 were perennial. The dominance was the highest with Digitaria ciliaris followed by Erigeron annuus, Chenopodium album, Echinochloa crus-galli var.crus-galli, Acalypha australis, Commelina communis etc. Exotic weeds presented 44 species with 28.8% of a total presence, of which Erigeron annuus was the highest, followed by Chenopodium album, Phytolacca americana, Conyza canadensis, Oxalis corymbosa etc. Especially, we should aware Senecio vulgaris, not controlled with glufosinate ammonium SL in the Korean mulberry fields because it was known as atrazine resistance in US, Canada, Germany etc. In the PCA plot, weeds presented in the mulberry fields were divided into two groups, Eclipta prostrata community and Stellaria aquatic community and weed flora of Suwon and Buan were different due to those only presented in Suwon.
The field studies were carried out in paddy field over a four year period in order to find out the effects of butachlor, nitrofen, oxadiazon or CG 102, benthiocarb-S, and bentazon applied successively to the same paddy field for four years on weed succession and rice yields under different fertilized conditions including compost, chemical fertilizer and straw application. Total dry weight of weeds was steadily increased yearly over 4 year period regardless of fertilized conditions, and significantly higher increase of weed dry weight was observed on non-fertilized and compost plots. The most dominant weed species was Scirpus hotarui, and Potamogeton distinctus, Eleocharis kuroguwai and Cyperus serotinus were predominated on compost plot, E. kuroguwai and E. aclularis on non-fertilized plot, E. kuroguwai, C. serotinus, and Monochoria vaginalis on chemical fertifizer plot, and C. serotinus on straw plot. When the same herbicides were used continuously on the same plots, weed control effect was decreased and thus weed population was greatly increased particularly on butachlor and nitrofen treated plots. P. distinctus, E. kuroguwai, and C. serotinus were predominated on butachlor treated plot, P. distinctus and C. serotinus on nitrofen treated plot, C. serotinus on benthiocarb-S treated plot, C. serotinus and P. distinctus on oxadiazon or CG 102 treated plot and P. distinctus on bentazon treated plot. Annual weeds were slightly increased by repeated annual application of oxadiazon or CG 102 and benthiocarb-S, whereas perennial weeds were predominated by successive application of butachlor, nitrofen. and bentazon for 4 years. Yield reduction of rice became prominent by successive application of same herbicides. particularly butachlor and nitrafen. This results suggested that successive annual application of same herbicides should be limited and herbicide combination or herbicide rotation should be applied to control the remaining weed species.

There are 28 families and 166 species of exotic weeds on agricultural land and among these, 23 families and 80 species of exotic weeds occur on pastures. Among them, the Solidago altissima is a perennial weed belonging to the asteraceae family and it is an exotic weed that spreads to the surrounding area using methods such as high seed production, vegetative propagation using underground rhizomes and allelochemical. Accordingly, in 2009, the Ministry of Environment designated it as an ecosystem-disrupting species. This study was conducted to obtain basic data about the effects of S.altissima derived allelochemicals on forage crops. The root of S.altissima was separated, dried in the shade and then pulverized to prepare an root powder. Powder was repeatedly extracted with methanol for 3 days and concentrated under reduced pressure to obtain an root methanol extract. Dissolve the extract in distilled water, dispense it in a separate-funnel and proceed with liquid-liquid extraction by adding equal amounts of n-haxane (Hex), chloroform (CHCI3), ethyl acetate (EtoAC), and butanol (BuOH) in order of increasing polarity. A seed-bioassay was performed using fractions for each solvent, followed by separation and purification by silica gel column chromatography. As a result of the fraction germination test for each solvent, the IC50 values using the fresh weight of each fraction were 898.3 mg L-1, 676.3 mg L-1, 1160 mg L-1 and 1360 mg L-1. CA, CB, and CC fractions were obtained through primary silica gel column chromatography that used CHCI3 fraction. As a result of seed-bioassay using each fraction, the IC50 values for the fresh weight of each fraction was 537.3 mg L-1, 1280 mg L-1 and 1947 mg L-1. Based on this, 5 fractions were obtained as a result of secondary silica gel column chromatography using the CA fraction. A seed-bioassay was performed, as a result, the lowest IC50 value was calculated as 226.7 mg L-1 in the CAE fraction. Based on this, the fraction was analyzed by GC-MS. The results of this study can be used as basic research data on the effects of weeds on forage crops and allelochemicals secreted from S. altissima.
This study was investigated in order to occurrence of weed flora in orchard (apple, grape, peach, pear etc.) fields and to the establishment of weed control basic data in these weeds. And this study was survey on 2015. As a result of the study on orchard weeds, there were total of 492 weeds including 63 families. Among all the weeds, 159 species were annual, 97 species were winter annual and 236 were perennial. Each fruit tree patterns of occurrence weeds, 306 species 50 families in apple orchard, 304 species 50 families in pear orchard, 286 species 50 families in grape orchard, and 288 species 48 families in peach orchard. Dominance was the highest with Digitaria ciliaris followed by Artemisia princeps, Stellaria aquatica, Commelina communis, Acalypha australis etc. in order. And exotics weeds occurred 127 species. Trifolium repens was the highest in importance analysis and the followings were in order of Conyza canadensis, Chenopodium album, Taraxacum offcinale, Rumex crispus etc. Changes in weed vegetation in orchard during 30 years, did not very many changed. In 1990, D. ciliaris, Persicaria hydropiper, Portulaca loeracea were dominant. In 2003, D. ciliaris was the most abundant species, followed by A. australis, A. princeps species. And in 2015, also D. ciliaris was the most dominant, followed by A. princeps, S. aquatica.
