The Mediating Effects of Subjective Health Perception on the Relationship between Physical Activity, Eating Habits and Mental Health in Gangwon-do Youth

  • The purpose of this study was to investigate the structural relationship between eating habits, physical activity, and subjective health perception, which can affect the mental health status of adolescents, and to examine whether subjective health perception has a mediating effect in these relationships. In this study, raw data from the "17th 2021 Youth Health Behavior Online Survey" were used, and a total of 1,998 people were used for the analysis of Gangwon-do adolescents, except for data with missing values. For analysis, SPSS 25.0 and AMOS 25.0 programs were used to analyze descriptive statistics, t-test, and structural equation models(SEM). Physical activity was found to have a positive and significant effect on mental health status, and subjective health cognition showed the effect of physical activity mediating mental health status.

대중매체의 영향과 위험인식 특성: 현대사회 기술위험에 대한 집단인지모델기법 적용 (A Study on Mass Media and Risk Perception: Application of Facilitated Group Modeling to Social Risks)

  • In consideration of limitations of the classic economic approach to risk evaluation and the psychometric analysis of risk perception, this study applies a facilitated modeling technique to a group of college students in Korea. In this group activities, researchers did not provide a pre-selected list of risk items. Instead, 35 participants had group discussions to generate 63 risk items, to rate their risk level and to evaluate their characteristics in terms of the level of knowledge and dreadfulness. This study also analyzes the influence of mass media, online news papers in particular, on risk perception by counting the number of news articles covering key word corresponding risk items generated. The results show that there are significant differences between the rank order of risk items generated by students and that of statistical or objective risk. Psychometric analyses find that the levels of knowledge and dreadfulness have meaningful correlations with risk level. A well known or a dreadful risk demonstrates a high level of risk. Correlation analyses of media coverage and the risk level also re-confirms strong positive relations. The larger number of news articles a risk issue was covered by, the higher level of risk it showed. It means that college students generated risk items on the basis of what they were exposed by media. The role of mass media in risk perception and the importance of risk communication in risk evaluation are underlined. Implications of research findings and future research are discussed as well.

미디어 형식과 위험 메시지 구성이 감정적 위험인식과 행위의도에 미치는 영향 (The effect of media modality and the valence of risk messages on affective risk perception and behavioral intention)

  • 본 연구에서는 미디어 형식과 위험 메시지 구성에 따라 방사선 조사식품에 대한 즉각적이고 감정적인 반응과 숙고적 행동의도가 어떻게 형성되는가를 살펴보고자 했다. 이를 위해 $3{\times}2$ 피험자간 실험을 통해 방사선 조사식품과 관련된 문자, 음성, 동영상 형태의 정보를 긍정 혹은 부정적으로 서술하여 피험자에게 제공했다. 이후 암묵적 측정법의 일환인 수정된 EAST 방법을 이용하여 피험자의 감정적 위험인식을 측정하고 설문을 이용해 방사선 조사식품의 구매의도를 측정했다. 연구결과는 전반적으로 미디어 형식과 메시지 구성이 피험자의 감정적 위험인식과 구매의도에 유의미한 영향을 주는 것으로 나타났다. 특히 미디어 형식의 효과는 메시지 구성간의 상호작용 효과가 유의미하였다. 즉 문자와 동영상 정보의 경우 긍정적 메시지가 위험인식을 낮추고 구매의도를 높이지만 부정적 메시지는 반대의 결과를 보였다. 그러나 음성 조건에서는 긍정적 정보와 부정적 정보가 감정적 위험인식과 구매의도에 차별적인 영향을 주지 못했다. 이러한 결과는 같은 정보라도 어떠한 미디어를 통해 전달되는가에 따라 위험인식이 다르게 형성될 수 있으며 이 때 메시지의 내용구성에 따라 미디어 형식의 효과는 다르게 나타날 수 있다는 것을 시사한다.

과학기술 위험에 대한 인지 및 태도 -전자파 위험을 중심으로- (Perception and Attitude about Risk from Science & Technology-Focused on Risk from Electromagnetic Wave-)

  • 본 연구는 전자파 위험에 대한 위험인지와 위험태도의 결정요인을 알아보고자 하였다. 이를 위해 이론적 논의 및 위험 커뮤니케이션 모델에 근거하여 위험인지와 위험태도를 위험 커뮤니케이션 효과 범주로 설정하고, 이에 대한 선행요인들을 정보원, 메시지, 채널, 수용자 범주로 범주화 하였다. 그리고 각 범주의 선행요인들이 효과범주에 속하는 위험인지와 위험태도에 미치는 영향을 살펴보기 위한 조사를 실시하였다. 분석결과, 전자파 위험에 대한 위험인지에 유의미한 영향을 미치는 요인은 수용자 차원의 위험통제성과 인지된 혜택, 정보원 차원의 위험대응전문성, 메시지 차원의 정보유용성으로 나타났다. 위험태도에 유의미한 영향을 미치는 요인은 수용자 차원의 위험통제성, 과학적 이해, 위험친숙성, 메시지 차원의 정보유용성과 정보정확성, 정보원 차원의 시민보호적극성으로 분석되었다. 따라서 위험인지와 위험태도 모두에 공통적으로 영향을 미치는 요인은 위험통제성과 정보유용성임을 알 수 있었다. 이 같은 연구결과는 전자파 위험과 관련한 위험 커뮤니케이션 과정에서 중요하게 고려되어야 할 요인들이 무엇인지를 시사한다.

In Search of Models in Speech Communication Research

  • This paper first presents the author's personal view on the importance of modeling in scientific research in general, and then describes two of his works toward modeling certain aspects of human speech communication. The first work is concerned with the physiological and physical mechanisms of controlling the voice fundamental frequency of speech, which is an important parameter for expressing information on tone, accent, and intonation. The second work is concerned with the cognitive processes involved in a discrimination test of speech stimuli, which gives rise to the phenomenon of so-called categorical perception. They are meant to illustrate the power of models based on deep understanding and precise formulation of the functions of the mechanisms/processes that underlie observed phenomena. Finally, it also presents the author's view on some models that are yet to be developed.

A Study on the Perception of Corona19 Period Play Culture Based on Big Data Analysis

  • In this study, we tried to explore the actual direction for the play culture by looking at the social perception of the change of play culture due to the Corona 19 using big data analysis. For this research, we used Textom, a website specializing in collecting big data, and collected 10,216 data using keywords of "Corona + Play," "Play Culture" and "Leisure" from January 19, 2020 to September 30, 2020, when the first confirmed case of Corona 19 occurred in Korea on various portal sites at home and abroad. The results of this paper showed that the social perception of the play culture in Corona 19 was 51.61%, not much different from the negative image of 48.15%. It is necessary to develop a play culture program that can identify people's various desires and emotions under the premise that situations similar to the current With Corona period and Corona19 can occur at any time, and find mental and physical stability and vitality in unstable situations. In addition, the results of this study can be used as basic data for the development of play culture policies or programs, with the significance that this study helped vitalize big data utilization research in the fields of play, leisure, and culture.

  • TV방송에서의 문자그래픽(방송자막)은 영상정보에 대한 시청자의 이해를 돕고 프로그램의 가치를 높여주는 영상구성 요소로써의 역할이 확대되고 있다. 본 논문은 TV화면의 대형화와 영상의 고품질화에 적합한 글자 표현을 위해 방송문자의 글꼴, 크기, 색상, 이동속도 등 문자의 속성에 변화가 필요한 점을 찾고 그 개선 방법에 관한 연구이다. 논문에서는 이론적 고찰과 함께 전문가 그룹을 대상으로 한 델파이조사를 기반으로 TV화면의 분자가 지닌 제 특성요소와 시각적 인지도가 어떤 연관을 가지고 있는지를 고찰하고 OSMU(One Source Multi Use) 환경에서의 각 매체별 특성을 고려한 개선안을 제안한다.

Who are Dominant Communicators on Twitter? A Study of Korean Twitter Users

  • This study explores how Twitter users perceive their socio-communication attitudes as well as those who users follow. From the theoretical perspective of communication styles in interpersonal communication, this study focuses on the positions and roles of users and their partners in Twitter conversations by conducting a survey and a content analysis. The results demonstrate that the respondents tended to perceive their communication attitudes to be more passive on Twitter than in the real world. In addition, they tended to perceive that their most trusted followees were more likely to show dominant communication attitudes than they did. These results indicate that ordinary users are more likely to play a role as listeners than as speakers on Twitter while entrusting several trusted users with the role of a dominant communicator and that their perception of their own and their followees' communication styles tends to influence their actual behavior on Twitter.

Effect of Digital Noise Reduction of Hearing Aids on Music and Speech Perception

  • Background and Objectives: Although many studies have evaluated the effect of the digital noise reduction (DNR) algorithm of hearing aids (HAs) on speech recognition, there are few studies on the effect of DNR on music perception. Therefore, we aimed to evaluate the effect of DNR on music, in addition to speech perception, using objective and subjective measurements. Subjects and Methods: Sixteen HA users participated in this study (58.00±10.44 years; 3 males and 13 females). The objective assessment of speech and music perception was based on the Korean version of the Clinical Assessment of Music Perception test and word and sentence recognition scores. Meanwhile, for the subjective assessment, the quality rating of speech and music as well as self-reported HA benefits were evaluated. Results: There was no improvement conferred with DNR of HAs on the objective assessment tests of speech and music perception. The pitch discrimination at 262 Hz in the DNR-off condition was better than that in the unaided condition (p=0.024); however, the unaided condition and the DNR-on conditions did not differ. In the Korean music background questionnaire, responses regarding ease of communication were better in the DNR-on condition than in the DNR-off condition (p=0.029). Conclusions: Speech and music perception or sound quality did not improve with the activation of DNR. However, DNR positively influenced the listener's subjective listening comfort. The DNR-off condition in HAs may be beneficial for pitch discrimination at some frequencies.
