  • The purpose of this study is to investigate the relationship between Korean housewives’attitudes and behaviors for diligence, frugality and economy. The data used in this study included 273 housewives living in Seoul. Statistical method used for data analysis were frequencies, percentile, means, standard deviations, factor analysis, and Pearson’s correlations. The research results can be summerized as follows. The findings of the analysis showed that three variables of attitudes and behaviors are still highly maintained. All of attitude variables have significant correlations with those of behaviors. Economy seems to be the most significant variable among those of three variables.

  • This paper considers model robust accelerated life test plans for estimating the logmean or percentile of product lige which is exponentially distributed. A linear relationship between the log mean life and the stress is assumed as usual, while the true relationship is quadratic. Optimum plans are then obtained by minimizing asymptotic mean squared error of maximum likelihood estimator of the log mean life.

  • In this study, speed survey has been conducted on Pusan Freeway to identify actual running speed. therefore, suggest that Highway Design Regulations and Highway Design Standard from Ministry of Construction and Transportation, which requires stopping sight distance for 20% less speed when rainy condition in accordance with Highway Safety Act, is not coincident with driver's characteristics. Consequently, it is prudent to compute stopping sight distance with 85th percentile running speed, considering driver's actual behavior and mountainous terrain.

  • Generally there are three methods to derive an approximation formula: 1) approching standard normal distribution by appropriate changing variable 2) using standardization variable for expansion 3) deriving approximation formula by direct method. This paper present correction terms having the form of $C_{1/v^{n/2}}/{\;}+{\;}C_2{\;}(n=1,2)$ with respect to $x^2_{\alpha}(v)$ distribution (${\nu}{\;}{\leq}{\;}30$), which minimize the error by EDA method and least square method.

  • The Purpose of this study is to Provide a basic data for Projects of residential bathroom remodeling according to contemporary life style. The subjects of this investigation are collected through questionnaire from adult resident who live in Seoul Korea. Four hundred ten cases are collected, and frequencies, percentile, crosstabs, and factor analysis and varianc analysis using Spss-win program analyze adequate cases in necessary condition. In this study, residents demographic informations, bathroom preferences, types, sizes, cost construction period, instruments needs, behaviors and facilities seperation are included. By statistics treatment, the significance of the data is analyzed.

  • Five equating methos for elective subjects of College Scholastic Ability Test were analyzed under a common-items nonequivalent groups design using a real data set of 110 thousand examinees. Five methods were (a)two-stage linear equating (b) two-stage equi-percentile equating (c) Tucker equating (d) Frequency estimation equating and (e)Braun-Holland equating. The results indicated that Frequency estimation equating fits well and two-stage linear equating produces most different equating results from the Frequency estimation equating.

  • The purpose of this study was to investigate dietary taurine intakes, plasma taurine levels and urinary taurine excretions of women in Seoul(Kangbuk-ku) and Kyunggi(Yeoju) area, Korea. Seventy married women aged 39.7$\pm$8.9 have volunteered for this study: 36 from Seoul area and 34 from Kyunggi area. Diet samples were collected from the participants and the samples included three meals (breakfast, lunch and supper), snacks, drinks and whatever the participants had eaten for 24 hours. The plasma was obtained by allowing a 5 $m\ell$ fasting blood sample to be in a heparinized tube for 30 min and centrifuging it at 11,000${\times}$g for 20 min. The collected diets were blended, centrifuged and deproteinized. Taurine levels in the diet and plasma were determined as the dabsyl derivative using HPLC with Rf-detector. The intake of taurine ranged from 6.8 to 837.8 mg/day and its mean value was l45.5$\pm$164.0 mg/day (mean$\pm$SD). The 90th, 50th and 10th percentile values of the taurine intake were 280.0, 94.3 and 26.8 mg/day, respectively. There was a significant difference between two groups: 202.0$\pm$204.9 for Seoul area and 85.5$\pm$67.2 mg/day for Kyunggi area(p<0.00l). The taurine level in plasma ranged from 42.1 to 201.9 $\mu$mol/L and its mean value was 74.9$\pm$22.8 $\mu$mol/L. The 90th, 50th and 10th percentile values of the plasma taurine were 101.1, 70.7 and 54.6 $\mu$mol/L, respectively. There was no significant difference between Seoul area and Kyunggi area in plasma taurine level.

  • The Ministry of Environment has measured streamflow at eight-day intervals for the estimation of standard flow of the Total Maximum Daily Loads (TMDL) system. This study identified the availability of the partially measured the eight-day interval data for estimating standard flow and found the optimal extension techniques of standard flow. The study area was selected for the Nakbon-A watershed in the Nakdong River, and four streamflow record extension techniques of standard flow were considered: extension, percentile, drainagearea, and regional regression methods. The flow duration curve (FDC) using the eight-day interval streamflow data indicated very high Nash and Sutcliffe Efficiency (NSE) values above 90 % from FDC-II to FDC-VII compared to FDC-VIII, the standard FDC. This result demonstrates that FDC using daily data of three-six cumulative years could represent standard FDC fairly well. For the streamflow record extension techniques of standard flow, the percentile method was selected as the optimal alternative, showing the minimal difference from FDC-VIII. These results validate the availability of the eight-day interval streamflow data in the standard flow estimation and the application of extension techniques. It seems that these results could reduce the uncertainty of partially measured streamflow data for water quantity and quality management.

  • The objectives of this research is to examine: 1) how the rates of adolescents' BMI change over time in terms of the state level; and 2) development difference in the state level of BMI in terms of children's obesogenic behaviors from 1999 to 2011. Data were drawn from the 1999-2011 Youth Risk Behavior Survey in the United States (N=260, 293, grades 9-12, and 27 states). Ordinary least squares regression and hierarchical linear modeling were utilized to capture a longitudinal time effect of school-aged adolescents' obesity rates across the states, controlling for demographics and nutrition- and physical activity-related behaviors. The state's level of children's BMI percentile was significantly associated with longitudinal time. Longitudinal time effect across the states appears to play an important factor associated with children's decrease of BMI percentile. Therefore the states' implementation of physical activity and nutritional policies seems to be effective for preventing and reducing childhood obesity during last decade. More attention should focus on enforcing the policy and overcoming current barriers in order to minimize children's obesogenic factor.
