Purpose: This study aimed to develop and test a model for posttraumatic growth among cured patients with COVID-19. This model was based on Calhoun and Tedeschi's Posttraumatic Growth model and a literature review. Methods: The participants comprised 223 patients cured from COVID-19 who were ≥ 19 years of age. The data were collected through an online questionnaire from March 21 to 24, 2022. The assessment tools included the Impact of Event Scale: Revised Korean version, the Connor-Davidson Resilience Scale, the Distress Disclosure Index, the Multidimensional Scale of Perceived Social Support, the Korean version of the Event-related Rumination Inventory, and the Korean version of the Post-traumatic Growth Inventory. Data were analyzed using the IBM SPSS version 24.0 and IBM AMOS 26.0. Results: The modified model showed appropriate goodness of fit (χ2 = 369.90, χ2 /degree of freedom = 2.09, SRMR = .09, RMESA = .07, CFI = .94, TLI = .93). The post-traumatic growth of cured patients with COVID-19 was explained through distress perception, self-disclosure, and deliberate rumination, with the explanatory power being 70.0%. Conclusion: This study suggests preparing a disaster psychology program involving experts who can activate deliberate rumination is necessary. Further, this study may serve as basic data for developing a program to enhance the post-traumatic growth of patients cured from COVID-19.

The purpose of this study is to identify the level of safety perception, ethical awareness, and safety activities of nursing students for patients, and to identify the correlation and impact between them. The research design is a descriptive survey study, and the subject of the study were 197 nursing college students in G City. Safety perception, ethical awareness, and safety activity tools were used for, and the data collection period was from October 17 to 28 in 2022. T-test, one-way ANOVA, Pearson's correlation coefficient, Regression analysis were used to analyze data. The result of the study indicated that the average level of safety perception of nursing students was 3.72 points, the average ethical awareness of patients, professional work, and cooperators perceived by nursing students was 3.04 points, and the safety activities of nursing students were 4.20 points. In the case of safety awareness and ethics awareness, r=.327, a significant positive correlation, in the case of safety awareness and safety activities, r=.399, significant positive correlation, ethics awareness and safety activities as r=.296. And so on these results showed that high safety perception increases safety activities, and high ethical awareness increases safety activities. Therefore, we need practical and step-by-step convergence education to equip nursing students with patient safety nursing capabilities. To this end, a safer environment will be created if the social support network for the systematic application of safety education is well formed.
Purpose: Despite the health impacts of endocrine-disrupting chemicals (EDCs) beginning in the early stages of life, there is little research on the perception of EDCs among Korean mothers, who are primarily responsible for protecting children. This study aimed to explore how mothers with young children perceived EDCs for their concerns, the issues they faced, and the way they dealt with them. Methods: An exploratory qualitative design was utilized. Twelve mothers who were recruited from snowball sampling participated in voluntary interviews. Individual in-depth interviews lasting approximately 47 to 60 minutes were recorded and transcribed verbatim. The data were analyzed using qualitative content analysis as suggested by Graneheim and Lundman. Results: Four categories, 10 subcategories, and 25 condensed meaning units were identified by interpreting mothers' underlying meanings. The four categories were 'Knowledgeable yet contrasting ideas regarding EDCs,' 'Negative health impact, but more so for children,' 'Inaction or trying to minimize exposure,' and 'Need for early, reliable resources and social change.' Mothers were knowledgeable about EDCs and actively needed further education and support. While they tended to focus more on the health impact of EDCs on their children and were optimistic about their health risks, paying less attention to their preventive behaviors. Conclusion: Healthcare professionals must consider mothers' perceptions of EDCs in future education and interventions regarding EDCs impact on women's life stages such as puberty, pregnancy, and childrearing. Also preventive strategies that can be applied to their daily lives are needed.
In recent times, STEM graduates are confronting a decline in employment rates influenced by economic, social, cultural, and policy-related factors. Career decisions are closely linked to education, college experiences, and university settings. To comprehend the reasons behind the decline in STEM employment, it is essential to explore the relationships among these factors. This study aims to comprehensively examine differences in career motivation and career exploration behavior among 2,393 STEM undergraduates in Korea. Additionally, factors affecting career motivation and career exploration behavior were investigated. The findings indicate significant differences in perceived career motivation and career exploration behavior based on individual backgrounds and university characteristics. And analyzing the data, 37.8% of career motivation is explained by contextual supports, career barriers, individual backgrounds (grade, GPA), university characteristics (major fields, location), field to enter after graduation, and timing of job preparation. For career exploration behavior, 30.1% is explained by contextual supports, career barriers, individual backgrounds (gender, grade, GPA), university characteristics (major field, location), field to enter after graduation, and timing of job preparation. Practical implications underscore the need for tailored educational and policy support, considering individual backgrounds and university characteristics, to effectively address challenges faced by STEM graduates in the evolving employment landscape.
What is the aim of mathematics education? Current aims of mathematics education often lack the multidimensionality needed to account for a successful experience in mathematics. In this short paper, we argue for a multidimensional aim of mathematics education via the construct of flourishing. Flourishing is derived from the notion of eudaimonia, which broadly refers to achieving the "highest good," or living a well-lived life. Building on prior research, we operationalize flourishing as an aggregate of several positive affective, behavioral, cognitive, and social traits, all of which contribute to students' propensities to achieve the "highest good" in mathematics. In particular, we propose five traits which contribute to students' propensities to achieve the "highest good" (i.e., flourish) in mathematics: (1) positive emotions toward mathematics; (2) engagement in mathematics; (3) community in mathematics; (4) meaning in mathematics; (5) perceived competence in mathematics. Thus, we argue that one productive aim of mathematics education is to support students in fulfilling each of these traits, which ultimately leads to flourishing in mathematics. To supplement our theoretical stance, we offer suggestions for measuring flourishing as an aim. We close this short paper by describing the implications that such an aim might suggest for pedagogy, policy, and research.

This study investigated the longitudinal transition of adolescents' psychological character profiles, which includes self-esteem, acculturative stress, depression, and social withdrawal, and the predictive effects of parental efficacy, families' support, and friends' support in multicultural families. The sample consisted of 1,188 adolescents in elementary school, who were re-examined in three years, when they were in middle school from the part of waves 2 and 6 of the Multicultural Adolescents Panel Study. A latent profile analysis identified three distinct profiles of psychological character among adolescents in elementary school and middle school: stable, social withdrawal, and unstable. As compared to elementary school, adolescents' psychological characteristics stayed stable and played critical roles on the latent classes. Parental efficacy, and supports from family and friends played critical roles on the latent classes. Specifically, as adolescents perceived full of supports from friends, they were more likely to make transitions to the stable group. Implications for intervention in multicultural families are discussed.
The purpose of this study is to analyze the actual situation of crime victimization by North Korean defectors and to examine whether any of the protection and support systems for defectors has a statistically significant effect on the perceived effectiveness for preventing the criminal victimization of North Korean Defectors. The subjects of this study were 107 police officers from the 17 provincial police departments. Independent variables were (1) social adaptation education in Hanawon, (2) protection officer system, (3) legal support system, (4) private participation system, (5) support for family life, (6) community participation activity. And the dependent variable is the crime prevention effectiveness for the defectors. As a result of multiple regression analysis, it was found that the independent variables that have a significant effect on the effectiveness of prevention of crime victimization were protection officer system and support for family life. First, in order to prevent the crime victimization of North Korean defectors in advance, three kinds of protection officer system that will be received after the transfer of the residence should play the role successfully. Second, the efforts of the government and municipalities alone are insufficient for the early settlement of North Korean defectors. Therefore, it is necessary to diversify the support and protection programs for North Korean refugees through cooperation with civic organizations. Third, it is necessary to expand the legal education time so that North Korean defectors do not suffer crime because of lack of legal knowledge. Fourth, in order to prevent North Korean defectors from being victimized by various kinds of crime, it is necessary to actively support them so that family life can be stabilized.

Objectives : The purpose of this study is to compare the psychosocial characteristics of patients diagnosed with functional gastrointestinal disorder (FGID) by classifying them into irritable bowel syndrome (IBS), functional dyspepsia (FD), functional constipation (FC), functional heartburn (FH) groups, and overlap group (two or more functional diseases) and to examine the factors associated with the quality of life (QoL) of patients with FGID. Methods : A total of 144 patients who were diagnosed with FGID were selected as the subjects. The demographical factors were investigated; Korean-Beck Depression Inventory-II (K-BDI-II), Korean-Beck Anxiety Inventory (K-BAI), Korean version of Childhood Trauma Questionnaire (K-CTQ), Multi-dimensional Scale of Perceived Social Support (MSPSS), Korean Version of Connor-Davidson Resilience Scale (K-CD-RISC), and World Health Organization Quality of Life Assessment Instrument Brief Form (WHOQOL-BREF) were used to evaluate the psychosocial factors. Results : TThe overlap group had a significantly higher K-BDI-II score (F=11.09, p<0.001) and K-BAI score (F=8.93, p<0.001) compared to other groups. In childhood trauma, the IBS patients had a difference in emotional neglect (F=2.54, p=0.04) than the FD patients. The QoL of FGID patients had a negative correlation with depression (r=-0.196, p<0.01), anxiety (r=-0.235, p<0.01), and childhood trauma (r=-0.222, p<0.01), and a positive correlation with social support (r=0.512, p<0.01) and resilience (r=0.581, p<0.01). Conclusions : Overlap group had a higher level of depression and anxiety, and the IBS patient group had a higher level of emotional neglect than the FD patient group in terms of childhood trauma.
Purpose: The purpose of this study was to identify Compassion Fatigue (CF), Somatization, and Silencing Response (SR) among nurses and understand intermediate effects between the variables. Methods: The sample of 240 nurses who were working three shifts in medical and surgical wards, and emergency room were recruited in three hospitals with over 700 beds. A structured questionnaire was used which included CF, Somatization and SR scales. The data were analyzed using descriptive statistics, ANOVA, Pearson's correlation coefficients and stepwise multiple regression. Results: There were statistically significant differences in CF, Somatization and SR depending on perceived personal health condition, experience of turnover, co-worker support. There were significant correlations between those study variables. The result also indicated that burnout (${\beta}$=.81, p<.001) which is a part of Secondary Traumatic Stress and Somatization (${\beta}$=.79, p<.001) have the role of partial mediator in the relationship between Secondary Traumatic Stress and Silencing response. Conclusion: The results of study show that an intermediary role by Burnout and Somatization in Silencing response of nurses is important for effective human resource management in hospital nursing staffs. Effective human resource management which includes mentoring and social support system can enhance the professional quality of life of nurses, which will eventually contribute to the quality of care by those care providers and counselors.

The purpose of this study was to identity the relationship among emotional expression, emotional support, and psychosocial well-being, to analyze the factor affect the psychosocial well-being and to provide the data-based for effective development of emotional education program. The subjects for this study were 553 undergraduate college nursing students. The period of data collection was from 16 to 30, June, 2001. The instruments used for this study were emotional expressiveness scale (EES), ambivalence over emotional expressiveness questionnaire (AEQ), affect intensity measure (AIM), social support scale (SSS), and psychosocial well-being index (PWI). Data were analyzed by use of Descriptive Statistics, ANOVA, t-test, Stepwise multiple regression, Pearson's correlation coefficient with SPSS WIN program. The Major results were as follows: 1. The average score of items for the AIM, EES, AEQ were moderate at 3.8, 3.7 and 3.4. The level of SSS was high at 7.2 and PWI was low at 52.1. 2. Significant correlation were found between the AIM, EES, and AEQ. The EES was positively correlated with the SSS and negatively correlated with the PWI. On the other hand, the AEQ was positively associated with the PWI and negatively associated with the SSS. There was significantly negative correlation between the SSS and PWI. 3. In demographic characteristics, significant difference was shown only in the EES. The EES was significantly different according to grade. The difference in the SSS and PWI between 3groups were significant at the EES and AEQ. 4. Results from hierarchical multiple regression analysis indicated that the EES, AEQ, and AIM had influence on the SSS. And perceived the AEQ and SSS together explained 18.7% of variance in the PWI. The results of study provide evidence about the roles of emotion in psychosocial well-being. As a result, this study suggests that later study would be required to identify factors affect the psychosocial well-being and to develop the emotional education program to enhance emotional expression.
