  • Purpose - The growth in consumers' online shopping has even been accelerated by the COVID-19 pandemic. While the purchase can be made from any countries online, the purpose is to examine the effect of the country of the online retailer (COOR) on consumers' perceived risk and purchase motivation, focusing on the retailer not on the brand. Design/methodology - Survey data from online shoppers are analized using the structural equation model. Findings - COOR, like COO of the brand manufacturer, positively affect consumer's purchase intension. First, the images and the perceived psychic distances of the COOR affects both perceived risk and purchase confidence. Secondly, this perceived risk and confidence they put on the transaction then affect the purchase intension of the consumer. Originality/value - We show that the quality of the signal comes not only from the manufacturer-branded product item itself with a certain COO, but also from the retailer who carries it.

We first identified comprehensive managerial variables and organized them in terms of customer decision stage. Next, with reference to extant literatures on product characteristics based e-commerce strategy, hypotheses are developed to formalize the customer value differences on the key managerial variables. Empirical testing results indicated that there are significant differences on customer perceived value of the key managerial variables between the product groups. The findings provide useful insight for further study on e-commerce differentiation strategy.

  • Considering the prevalent use of mobile devices and the mobile Internet in Korea, there should be open doors for retailers to a different type of distribution if they could find out what makes consumers satisfied with m-commerce sites as well as what makes consumers purchase from m-commerce sites. Therefore, we explored: 1) the antecedents of satisfaction with m-commerce sites and 2) the determinants of purchasers vs. browsers of m-commerce. As possible antecedents of the two dependent variables, the following were utilized in the current study: the Technology Acceptance Model (TAM), perceived shopping values, and interactivity. According to the results of this study, these variables related to the performance of mobile commerce sites (Perceived ease of use, Perceived usefulness, Synchronicity, Richness of content, and Contextual services) significantly affected satisfaction with m-commerce sites. On the other hand, the most important discriminator of an m-commerce purchaser vs. a browser was human-oriented interactivity, especially interpersonal communication among users. With the help of information technology.

  • This study aims to understand how an influencer's social and physical attractiveness, background and value homophily influences consumer's emotional attachment, which in turn causes user stickiness with regards the influencer's live commerce. We tested all proposed hypotheses among users of the online shopping platform "TaoBao". Ultimately, 297 questionnaires were collected by means of an online survey. The results revealed that social and physical attractiveness positively influence emotional attachment. Meanwhile only value homophily significantly affected emotional attachment, whereas background homophily did not significantly affect emotional attachment.
