  • As studies on more realistic human-robot interface are being actively carried out, people's interests about telepresence which remotely controls robot and obtains environmental information through video display are increasing. In order to provide natural telepresence services by moving a remote robot, it is required to recognize user's behaviors. The recognition of user movements used in previous telepresence system was difficult and costly to be implemented, limited in its applications to human-robot interaction. In this paper, using the Nintendo's Wii controller getting a lot of attention in these days and infrared LEDs, we propose an immersive user interface that easily recognizes user's position and gaze direction and provides remote video information through HMD.

  • The rapid increase of the number of channels makes it hard to find wanted programs from TV. In recent years, the number of channels come up to hundreds with the digital TV arrival. So, it will drive us to the new way of watching TV. In this paper, we introduce a recommendation system for TV programs to overcome this difficulty. We model user profiles and design each module of the system, considering TV environment. Our system gathers basic information from people manually and then updates user profiles automatically by tracking viewing and usage history. As a result, our system recommends daily TV programs based on the changing interest of users. In this paper, we address the problems and solutions by describing our system and the experiment.

  • Drone refers to an unmanned flying system according to the remote control. That is a remote control systems on the ground or a system that automatically or semi auto-piloted system without pilot on board. Drones have been used and developed before for military purposes. However there are currently utilized in a variety of areas such as logistics and distribution of relief supplies disaster areas, wireless Internet connection, TV, video shooting and disaster observation, tracking criminals etc. Especially it can be actively used in activities such as search or the structure of the disaster site, and may be able to detect the movement of people and an attacker using an infrared camera at night. Drones are very effective for private security.

  • Recently, modern people a lot of frequency of work and seat life by academic is increased, addictive spine for the wrong attitude and the wrong habits are many pelvic disease occurrence. Therefore, in order to induce continuous correct posture to prevent this, the system that can be induced to determine the posture information based on the seating information is requested. In this paper, when the development and inappropriate attitude of the device that is capable of tracking measurement in order to evaluate the attitude stability is detected, let your users know, to correct their attitude through the real-time monitoring It was implemented of categorize to help application.

  • There have been several researches to trace intruders on the Internet. But, up to now, few of them has shown a satisfactory and practicable result of the study. Recently, a little bit more active methods such as 'counter-attacking' have been considered to be an alternative to solve the problem of hacking, and some people showed a tendency to accept the method as one possible way to protect their systems. And the new intruder-retracing method suggested in this study is an improved AIAA(Autonomous Intrusion Analysis Agent) model which has been achieved by attaching the counter-attacking method to the existing tracing system. In this paper, the automatic intruder-tracking system is proposed, which was achieved through the design of the following three modules, such as the intruder-retracing module, intruder-tracing module and AIAA dispatch module.

  • RTLS (Real-time locating systems) are used for tracking the location of people or assets in real time. In this system, RTLS readers continuously communicate with RTLS tags for measuring time or ranges and location engine tries to calculate accurate location of tags. However, when we attempt to apply this system to real world, the non-line-of-sight(NLOS) problem can be critical to the system performance because of the obstacles. In this paper, we suggest a new location estimation method for an NLOS environment using a reader-selection strategy. We have implemented all components of the locating system and carried out experiments in a test-bed. The accuracy of the system is 50% better than that of the existing general locating system.

  • This paper is part of the dissertation for an MSc in Project Management and Innovation of Strathclyde Business School The research aims at understanding how IT-SMEs (Small and Medium-sized Enterprises in Information Technology Business) implement and use Flexible Work Arrangements and Flexible Working Hours (FWH/FWA) in their organisations. In-depth interview data was collected from managers and business owners of 31 companies whose needs for Work-Life Balance varied. Results show that many factors positively influence IT-SMEs to use FWH/FWA. For example, customers and partners working at different work-hours, traffic congestions between home and office, and the general stereotype of IT personnel. However, the results also found several concerning factors that may hamper the success of FWH/FWA implementation. They include the inadequacy of management skills in tracking, monitoring, and assessing employee's real performance, contextual factors for Thai IT-SMEs, i.e. conflict resolution culture, IT people's protocol of communication exchanges, and shortcoming of technology infrastructure. The findings also show that many companies that had used FWA eventually stopped. Thus, a four-phase cyclical framework called PLIC (Purpose-Limitation-Implementation-Consequence) has been developed as an approach to FWH/FWA implementation.

  • The International Ice Patrol (IIP) was established after the Titanic collided with an iceberg off the eastern coast of Canada in 1912 and sank, killing more than 1,500 people. Recently, the IIP has analyzed satellite images and provided safe operation information to vessels by tracking the occurrence and movement of icebergs. A large number of recent arctic studies mainly deal with sea ice formed by freezing seawater related to sea routes and resource development. The iceberg that collided with the Titanic was land-based ice that dislodged from a glacier and fell into the sea. The properties of these two types of ice are different. In addition, vessels operating in ice-covered waters such as the Arctic sea have an ice-breaking function or minimum ice-strengthened functions. Ships operating on transatlantic routes including the eastern coast of Canada do not necessarily require ice-strengthened functions. Hundreds to thousands of icebergs are discovered each year near the area where the Titanic sank. In this study, the status of ship-iceberg collision accidents was investigated to provide useful information to researchers, and the physical and mechanical characteristics of icebergs were investigated and summarized.

  • Recently we have been facing a number of safety accidents under various environments. Currently, if the people encountered a risk during maritime activities in offshore, rescue efforts have been made only rely on the human perspective and experience. As a result, there are a lot of deaths and disappearances accidents caused by accidents at offshore. These accidents are mainly seen to occur because of the delay in the rescue. In order to reduce the accident according to this rescue delay, we carried out a study on the designing a wireless transmitter and receiver devices that can be used easily with latest IoT technologies including GPS, RF, LoRa wireless communication technology for a rapid rescue.

  • Purpose: This study aimed to identify factors affecting attitudes and intentions toward online purchasing of millennials and gen z in Indonesia by considering distribution capabilities factors. Research design, data and methodology: This study used a non-probability sampling technique. The questionnaire was distributed through an online platform and obtained 225 respondents. The data acquired from the respondents used SPSS 23 and AMOSS 21 to process the Structural Equation Model (SEM). Results: The results of this study stated that attitudes and intentions toward online purchases were influenced by delivery speed and trust. The results also stated that the perception of web quality positively influenced trust. On the other hand, shipping tracking, people's importance to consumers, and online reviews had no significant effects on online purchasing attitudes. Conclusions: This research has made an essential contribution to increasing and expanding our understanding of factors that affect attitudes and intentions toward online shopping in a developing market, Indonesia. From a practical perspective, this research examined the integrated consumer model of millennials and Gen Z online shopping in Indonesia that considers distribution capability, trust, and perceived website quality factors. Therefore, e-commerce business actors can design e-marketing strategies and programs to achieve the company's long-term goals.
