자동차 범퍼 레일의 경량화 설계에 관한 연구 (Study on the design of the passenger cars bumper rail to reduce the weight)

  • Recently vehicle development trend puts emphasis on cost reduction and performance improvement through weight reduction, and safety security to protect passenger and chassis against external impact. Primary factors effected on vehicle safety are chassis structure, chassis system, and safety equipment like bumper. Research in part of weight reduction is proceeding actively about prohibition of over-design and material through optimal design method. Bumper in these factors is demanded two of all factors, safety security and weight reduction. It is the part that prohibits or reduces a physical impact in low speed crash. Bumper is composed of a few parts but this study exhibits the shape of bumper rail has a role on energy absorption of safety security and weight reduction from structure analysis of bumper rail's variable shape surface.

  • With glass becoming a structural material there is a whole new approach for loading and ensuring the safety of construction. Due to its brittle nature, it is necessary to predict all possible problems so that structural integrity would not be endangered. In this paper, different approaches to modelling the glass elements are presented with references to the advantages, disadvantages, and application of each of them. The intention is clear, there is a need to improve and simplify the design guidelines. Given the increasing use of glass in construction it is not practical to produce experimental tests each time when the verification is needed. Today, architecture is bringing us different types of structures and every project presents a new challenge for engineers. A practical and simple approach is crucial for progress and efficiency. In this paper, different approaches to modelling glass are presented with an emphasis on soft body impact.

  • 본 연구는 면적 $0.293\;m^2{\sim}0.360\;m^2$의 소형표지판용 지주의 풍하중에 대한 구조적 안정성을 유지하면서도 작은 충돌에도 분리가 일어나도록 고안된 내경 6 mm의 D12 mm 중공형 인덴티드 볼트를 이용한 소형지주용 브레이크어웨이 단부장치의 구조적 안전성을 정적 전단 및 인장실험으로 입증하고 동적특성을 이해하는데 기본이 되는 인덴티드 볼트의 분리 파괴에너지를 펜듈럼 실험과 비선형 동적해석 프로그램인 LS-DYNA 프로그램을 이용하여 구하고 두 가지 방법을 비교한 것이다. 인덴티드 볼트 3개로 이루어진 단부장치는 풍하중 43.1 kg$\sim$51.2 kg를 충분히 지지할 수 있는 것으로 나타났으며 인덴티드 볼트 1개 당 파괴에너지는 펜듈럼 실험값이 163.3J, 시뮬레이션 값이 153J로 유사하게 계산되어 모델의 유효성이 확인되었다.

마그네틱 파우더 브레이크를 이용한 소형 진자형 충격시험기 개발 (Development of a Miniature Pendular Type Impact Testing Machine Using a Magnetic Powder Brake)

  • A miniature pendular type impact testing machine was designed and developed, adopting a magnetic powder brake in order to investigate tensile and shear behavior of a small solder ball at high speed. In this testing system, the potential energy of the pendulum is transferred into the impact energy during its drop. Then, the impact energy is transmitted through the striker which is connected to the push rods to push the specimen for tensile loading. The tensile behavior of lead-free solder ball in diameter of 760 ${\mu}m$ was successfully investigated in a speed range of 0.15 m/s~1.25 m/s using this designed device. The maximum tensile strength of the solder joint decreases with the loading speed in the testing condition. The maximum tensile strength of the joint was 56 MPa in the low speed region.

저속 후방 추돌 자원자 실험을 통한 두부와 경부의 동작분석 (Motion Analysis of Head and Neck of Human Volunteers in Low-Speed Rear Impact)

  • The purpose of this research is to obtain and analyze dynamic responses from human volunteers for the development of the human-like mechanical or mathematical model for Korean males in automotive rear collisions. This paper focused on the introduction to a low-speed rear impact sled test involving Korean male subjects, and the accumulation of the motion of head and neck. A total of 50 dynamic rear impact sled tests were performed with 50 human volunteers, who are 30-50 year-old males. Each subject can be involved in only one case to prevent any injury in which he was exposed to the impulse that was equivalent to a low-speed rear-end collision of cars at 5-8 km/h for change of velocity, so called, ${\Delta}V$. All subjects were examined by an orthopedist to qualify for the test through the medical check-up of their necks and low backs prior to the test. The impact device is the pendulum type, tuned to simulate the crash pulse of a real vehicle. All motions and impulses were captured and measured by motion capture systems and pressure sensors on the seat. Dynamic responses of head and T1 were analyzed in two cases(5 km/h, 8 km/h) to compare with the results in the previous studies. After the experiments, human subjects were examined to check up any change in the post medical analysis. As a result, there was no change in MRI and no injury reported. Six subjects experienced a minor stiffness on their back for no more than 2 days and got back to normal without any medical treatment.

정면 오프셋 충돌시 가스튜브를 이용한 차량용 범퍼의 손상성, 수리성에 대한 연구 (A Study on the Damageability and Repairability of the Car Bumper Systems with Gas Tube)

  • The car crash accidents in low speed occurs most frequently. Damage on a conventional bumper after the car accident causes the bumper to get fixed most of time. This study shows how a gas tube bumper reduces a damageability and increase repairability after the car accidents. The 15 km/h 40% offset front and rear crash test recommended by RCAR (Research council for automobile repairs) standard was performed and evaluated damages on the gas tube bumper by the pendulum impact tester. In this study, the gas tube bumper reduces damageability and increases repairability after car crash accidents. In addition, car frame design to apply the gas tube bumper may consider to be changed.

  • Although extruded aluminium bumper beam has been commonly used in advanced car makers, there are not so much precedent for it's localization. For the localization of aluminum bumper beam of 7XXX series, benchmarking, material modifications of 7XXX series aluminum alloy, section design of beam, impact analysis had been performed in this study. High fuel efficiency and weight reduction could be achieved by using aluminum bumper beam of which the weight is lighter than that of steel. Moreover, it is expected to reach higher recycling rate by substituting aluminum for steel.

해일표류물의 충돌에 의한 철근콘크리트 건축물의 응답특성에 관한 실험적 연구 (Experimental Study on Response Characteristics of Reinforced Concrete Buildings Due to Waterborne Debris Impact Loads)

  • 본 연구에서는 해일표류선박의 충돌이 해일피난건물로 선정된 철근콘크리트 건축물의 안전성에 미치는 영향을 파악하기 위하여, 충돌속도, 선박의 질량 및 선박의 길이를 변수로 한 진자를 이용한 축소 충돌실험을 실시하여, 건축물의 응답에 영향을 미치는 최대 충돌력, 충돌시간, 충돌파형 형상, 반발계수 등에 대한 기본적인 물리량 변동추이를 상세히 평가하였다. 그 결과, 충돌파형 형상은 대부분의 실험결과에서 삼각형 분포가 나타났으나, 충돌실험체의 길이의 증가에 따라 사다리꼴에 가까워지는 것을 알 수 있었다. 이는 건축물의 응답에 영향을 미치는 충격량 (충돌력 파형의 면적)을 산정함에 있어 매우 중요한 결과이다. 또한 반발계수는 충돌속도의 대소에 관계없이 일정하나, 충돌체의 질량 및 길이에 의해 변화하며, 단위길이당 질량으로 정리하면 반발계수의 변동이 평가가능함을 알 수 있었다.

Calibration of flush air data sensing systems for a satellite launch vehicle

  • This paper presents calibration of flush air data sensing systems during ascent period of a satellite launch vehicle. Aerodynamic results are numerically computed by solving three-dimensional time dependent compressible Euler equations over a payload shroud of a satellite launch vehicle. The flush air data system consists of four pressure ports flushed on a blunt-cone section of the payload shroud and connected to on board differential pressure transducers. The inverse algorithm uses calibration charts which are based on computed and measured data. A controlled random search method coupled with neural network technique is employed to estimate pitch and yaw angles from measured transient differential pressure history. The algorithm predicts the flow direction stepwise with the function of flight Mach numbers and can be termed as an online method. Flow direction of the launch vehicle is compared with the reconstructed trajectory data. The estimated values of the flow direction are in good agreement with them.

  • 공동주택의 구조형식이 기둥식 구조로 이행되면서 경량벽체의 수요가 증가하고 있다. 경량벽체는 구조적 안전을 위해 소정의 내충격성을 확보할 필요가 있다. 본 연구에서는 질량과 형상이 다른 경질 충격체 7종류와 일상적으로 벽체에 충격하중을 가하는 단단한 물체 5종류를 대상으로 하중해석 실험을 실시하였다. 충격에너지가 같아도 추의 질량이 다르면 하중의 크기가 최대 2배 이상 차이가 난다는 것을 실험적으로 규명하였다. 또한 경질 충격체의 하중과 실제 물체의 하중을 비교 분석하여 경량벽체의 재료설계를 위한 기초적 자료로서 제시하였다.
