  • The purpose of this study was to explore the effects of mother-child interaction and child's social behaviors on child's peer acceptance. Participants were 108 4- to 5-year-old preschoolers(58 boys, 50 girls) and their mothers. Data were analyzed by descriptive statistics, correlation analysis and stepwise multiple regression analysis. The major findings are summarized as follows: (1) mother-child interaction are generally correlated with child's peer acceptance. And child's prosocial behavior was positively correlated with child's peer acceptance, whereas child's aggressive behavior, asocial behavior and hyperactive-distractible behavior were negatively correlated with child's peer acceptance. (2) The most influential factor on child's peer acceptance was child's experience in session, the next influential factor was child's hyperactive-distractible behavior and the last influential factor was asocial behavior.

  • The purpose of this study was to investigate the interaction and effects of shame and parent-child communication on children and early adolescents' peer pressure. The subjects of this study were 359 children and early adolescents from 5th grade in elementary school to 2nd grade in middle school (187 boys, and 172 girls) in Daejeon city. The results of this research indicated that gender and age played a significant role on the effects of shame and parent-child communication on peer pressure. Open communication with mothers showed a positive relationship with boys' peer pressure, whereas open communication with father showed a negative relationship with boys' peer pressure. The interaction effects of shame and open-communication with fathers and mothers worked differently on peer pressure across gender and age. Interaction effects of shame and open communication with fathers and mothers were significant for boys, but not for girls. Interaction effect of shame and open communication with mothers was significant for children and adolescents.

  • The purpose of this research is to investigate how the Peer-Praise Activity program influence the Elementary School Students' Peer-Relationship and Class Cohesiveness. 2 Classes from the 5th grade of J elementary school in Seoul were selected as experimental group and control group. After the Peer-Praise Activity program was applied to experimental group, a post-test was given to verify the effects of the program. After one month, follow up-test was conducted to check the effect of durability on program. The program was applied to experimental group to check the inadequency and problem. Contrastively, control group had no application of the program. The results of this study are as follows : Compared to control group, experimental group that participated in the Peer-Praise Activity program showed significant improvement(p<.05) in Peer-Relationship and Class Cohesiveness. To supplement the results of quantitative analysis, opinion documents and qualitative analysis were executed. It shows that children had help of having confident school life by improving friendship and having a sense of unity and community spirit. In follow up-test result, it is known that the effect of Peer-Praise Activity Program is continued in Peer-Relationship and Class Cohesiveness and its all sub-factors except Communal life with friends which is one of the sub-factor in Peer-Relationship. The results above prove that Peer-Praise Activity Program has a positive effect on the Peer-Relationship and Class Cohesiveness for elementary school students. But it is needed to study long-term conducted program to improve durability effect. And curriculums and subjects which is able to connected with program should be studied continually.

  • SIn this paper, we introduce our experience for designing and implementing new concept of a global XML-based Peer-to-Peer (P2P) engine to support various P2P applications, and interconnection among PC, Web and mobile computing environments. The proposed P2P engine can support to heterogeneous data exchanges and web interconnection by facilitating with the text-base XML while message exchange are necessary. It is also to provide multi-level security functions as well as to apply different types of security algorithms. The system consist of four modules; a message dispatcher to scheduling and filtering the message, a SecureNet to providing security services and data transmission, a Discovery Manager to constructing peer-to-peer networking, and a Repository Manager to processing data management including XML documents. As a feasibility test, we implement various P2P services such as chatting as a communication service, white-board as an authoring tool set during collaborative working, and a file system as a file sharing service. We also compared the proposed system to a Gnutella in order to measure performance of the systems.

  • Objectives : This study examined the impact of peer's suicide on mental health of middle-school students. The aim of this study was to describe the course of posttraumatic stress and grief reaction, suicide ideation, and depression score among adolescents after exposure to peer's suicide and to examine the relationship between posttraumatic stress and other mental health scores in these subjects. Methods : Thirty seven middle school students who were exposed to the suicidal death of a peer completed self-report measures to assess levels of depression, grief reaction, post-traumatic stress, and suicide ideation at 1 month and 8 months after the peer's suicide. Results : There was no significant change in mental health scores between 1 month and 8 months. Level of posttraumatic stress after 8 months was related to acute grief response. Subjects who experienced a clinically significant level of suicidal ideation and posttraumatic stress showed more mental health problems. Conclusion : The results suggested that peer's suicide strongly impacted mental health issues of adolescents at a critical time of adolescent development. Clinicians should perform a thorough evaluation of mental health problems for youth who experienced peer's suicide and help them in management of their grief reaction.

  • Peer-to-Peer (P2P) has attracted attention as an alternative way to enable streaming videos on the Internet. Although P2P systems depend on bandwidth contribution from peers, peers are likely to refuse to contribute their bandwidth. In this paper, we proposed a P2P streaming system that encourages peers to contribute their upstream bandwidth by maintaining fairness among peers and providing different video quality between cooperative peers and selfish peers with a manageable way. Our proposed system determines if peers are cooperative or selfish by a rating mechanism based on their contributed upstream bandwidth, and offers a high quality video to cooperative peers as an incentive. Also we propose a tree reconstruction algorithm to make the system work effectively. Through simulation, we show that the tree reconstruction algorithm works effectively, and our incentive mechanism allocates more downstream bandwidth to cooperative peers and punished selfish peers with low quality video.

  • Emerging peer-to-peer systems benefit from the large amount of resources provided by many peers. However, many peer-to-peer systems or applications suffer from malicious peers and it is not guaranteed that peers are always online. Micropayment systems are accounting and charging mechanism for buying services, so we can apply them to solve these problems. In the past the majority of micropayment system uses a centralized broker but the problem with most existing micropayment system is a heavy load on the broker. For instance, when an owner of the coin is offline, the broker delegates the owner and handles payment messages. It occurs frequently because of characteristic of peer-to-peer system and is another load of the broker. In this paper we introduce DPay, a peer-to-peer micropayment system that uses distributed hash table (DHT) for storing encrypted payment messages and increases scalability and reduces the load of broker by removing downtime protocol. We show the idea of real-time double spending detection in DPay and report the results of several evaluations in order to compare DPay and other payment scheme. In simulation result, the load of broker in DPay is reduced by 30% on average of other previous payment scheme. We expect that DPay can apply various peer-to-peer systems because it provides a real-time double spending detection and stores more secure payment messages.

  • For efficient searching in unstructured peer-to-peer systems, random walk was proposed and several replication methods have been studied to compensate for the random walk's low query success rate. This paper proposes an efficient replication scheme that improves the accuracy and speed of queries and reduces the cost by minimizing the number of replicas and by utilizing caches. In this scheme, hub nodes store only content's caches, and one of their neighbors stores the replica. By determining hubs with only limited and local information, we can adaptively generate caches and replicas in dynamic peer-to-peer networks.

  • Lookup Is one of important factors for network traffic on peer-to-peer network. Especially, large amount of network resources are required for lookup process in p2p file sharing system that clients use the dynamic If and they import to p2p network in random. In this paper, we employ efficient lookup mechanism which searches lookup with the combined information of ISP key values and the extracted key values from SHA-1 hashing function for shared contents id. The proposed mechanism efficiently searches files on the network because the mechanism processes P2P lookup with consideration the routing information of ISP. We suggest the adapted simulation environment based upon the famous file sharing system of emule P2P and experiment the proposed system.
