Seismic design practices and seismic response analyses of civil structures and nuclear power plants (NPPs) have conventionally used the peak ground acceleration (PGA) or spectral acceleration (Sa) as an intensity measure (IM) of an earthquake. However, there are many other earthquake IMs that were proposed by various researchers. The aim of this study is to investigate the correlation between seismic responses of NPP components and 23 earthquake IMs and identify the best IMs for correlating with damage of NPP structures. Particularly, low- and high-frequency ground motion records are separately accounted in correlation analyses. An advanced power reactor NPP in Korea, APR1400, is selected for numerical analyses where containment and auxiliary buildings are modeled using SAP2000. Floor displacements and accelerations are monitored for the non- and base-isolated NPP structures while shear deformations of the base isolator are additionally monitored for the base-isolated NPP. A series of Pearson's correlation coefficients are calculated to recognize the correlation between each of the 23 earthquake IMs and responses of NPP structures. The numerical results demonstrate that there is a significant difference in the correlation between earthquake IMs and seismic responses of non-isolated NPP structures considering low- and high-frequency ground motion groups. Meanwhile, a trivial discrepancy of the correlation is observed in the case of the base-isolated NPP subjected to the two groups of ground motions. Moreover, a selection of PGA or Sa for seismic response analyses of NPP structures in the high-frequency seismic regions may not be the best option. Additionally, a set of fragility curves are thereafter developed for the base-isolated NPP based on the shear deformation of lead rubber bearing (LRB) with respect to the strongly correlated IMs. The results reveal that the probability of damage to the structure is higher for low-frequency earthquakes compared with that of high-frequency ground motions.

This descriptive study was intended to investigate the influence of spouse support, sexual autonomy, and sexual satisfaction on self-efficacy in married immigrant women in South Korea. Data was collected from 171 married immigrant women from Jan to Mar 2019. The data were analyzed by ANOVA, Pearson's correlation coefficient, and Multiple Regression Analysis. As a result of analysis, spouse support 3.64±0.86, sexual autonomy 3.44±0.93, sexual satisfaction 3.14 ±0.90, self-efficacy 3.06±0.64 and there was a high positive correlation among all variables(p<.01). Sex-related variables, sexual autonomy and sexual satisfaction, were identified as strong predictors for self-efficacy, and their explanation power was 26.9%. The results of this study suggest that it is necessary to develop a variety programs to enhance the self-efficacy of married immigrant women and to seek practical approaches to that effect.
The purpose of this research is to analyze converged factors affecting compassion competence in clinical nurses. This is a descriptive correlation research to examine converged factors affecting compassion competence of clinical nurses. Research objects are 233 nurses working in three general hospitals located in Chungnam province, and who understand the purposes of this research and agree to participate in this research. To analyze the data, descriptive statistics, t-test, ANOVA, Pearson's Correlation Coefficient, and stepwise multiple regression analysis were used. The variable which has the greatest effect on compassion competence was compassion satisfaction, followed by clinical experience, compassion fatigue, with those 3 variables explaining 34.4% of compassion competence. Therefore it is necessary to develop specific education programs to improve compassion competence of nurses. Since the explaining power of three variables to compassion competence is 34.4%, it is necessary to add more meaningful variables to explain compassion competence of clinical nurses.

There was a significant positive correlation between self-leadership and critical thinking disposition(r=.438, p<.001), self-leadership and goal commitment(r=.285, p<.001). In conclusion, this study show that integrated with problem based learning(S-PBL) can be used for improvement the self-leadership, critical thinking disposition, goal commitment. It is suggested to check the effect of simulation integrated with problem based learning applying various nursing situations in the future.
The purpose of this study was to investigate the level of depression and dysphagia among the community-dwelling older adults and to find the relationships between depression and dysphagia. The study was cross-sectional survey and participants were 159 older adults above 65 years of age recruited by convenience sampling in two cities. The data were analyzed using descriptive statistics, t-test, ANOVA, Pearson's correlation coefficient, and Stepwise multiple regression. According to results, the average score of participant's depression were 4.56. There was a significant correlation between depression and dysphagia. Multiple regression analysis showed that self-rated health status(𝛽=-.210, p=.019), dysphagia(𝛽=.202, p=.006), number of chronic diseases(𝛽=.188, p=.015), and oral condition(𝛽=-.174, p=.041) were significant factors of depression. These variables explained 23.9% of depression. Therefore, effective health management strategies considering self-rated health status, dysphagia, chronic diseases, and oral condition should be established to reduce depression in the elderly.

This study is a descriptive research study to determine the stress, resilience, and social support of nurses who cared for COVID-19 patients and the impact on post-traumatic growth. The survey was conducted on 179 nurses who cared for COVID-19 patients at a general hospital located in D City from July 19, 2021, to August 10, 2021. The collected data were analyzed using descriptive statistics, t-test, ANOVA, Pearson's correlation coefficient, and multiple regression analysis using SPSS 22.0. Post-traumatic growth showed a significant positive correlation with resilience (r=.499, p=<.001) and social support (r=.494, p=<.001). As a result of multiple regression analysis, prior knowledge about COVID-19 (𝛽=.142, p=.023), resilience (𝛽=.330, p =<.001), and social support (𝛽=.296, p =<.001) was a significant variable affecting post-traumatic growth. These results will be used as basic data to improve nurses' post-traumatic growth.

Utilizing a new version of the sunspot number and group sunspot number dataset available since 2015, we have statistically studied the relationship between solar activity parameters describing solar cycles and the slope of the linear relationship between the monthly sunspot numbers and the monthly number of active days in percentage (AD). As an effort of evaluating possibilities in use of the number of active days to predict solar activity, it is worthwhile to revisit and extend the analysis performed earlier. In calculating the Pearson's linear correlation coefficient r, the Spearman's rank-order correlation coefficient rs, and the Kendall's τ coefficient with the rejection probability, we have calculated the slope for a given solar cycle in three different ways, namely, by counting the spotless day that occurred during the ascending phase and the descending phase of the solar cycle separately, and during the period corresponding to solar minimum ± 2 years as well. We have found that the maximum solar sunspot number of a given solar cycle and the duration of the ascending phase are hardly correlated with the slope of a linear function of the monthly sunspot numbers and AD. On the other hand, the duration of a solar cycle is found to be marginally correlated with the slope with the rejection probabilities less than a couple of percent. We have also attempted to compare the relation of the monthly sunspot numbers with AD for the even and odd solar cycles. It is inconclusive, however, that the slopes of the linear relationship between the monthly group numbers and AD are subject to the even and odd solar cycles.
Purpose: To evaluate the correlation between colon transit time (CTT) test value and initial maintenance dose of polyethylene glycol (PEG) 4000 or lactulose. Methods: Of 415 children with chronic functional constipation, 190 were enrolled based on exclusion criteria using the CTT test, defecation diary, and clinical chart. The CTT test was performed with prior disimpaction. The laxative dose for maintenance was determined on the basis of the defecation diary and clinical chart. The Shapiro-Wilk test and Pearson's and Spearman's correlations were used for statistical analysis. Results: The overall group median value and interquartile range of the CTT test was 43.8 (31.8) hours. The average PEG 4000 dose for maintenance in the overall group was $0.68{\pm}0.18g/kg/d$; according to age, the dose was $0.73{\pm}0.16g/kg/d$ (<8 years), $0.53{\pm}0.12g/kg/d$ (8 to <12 years), and $0.36{\pm}0.05g/kg/d$ (12 to 15 years). The dose of lactulose was $1.99{\pm}0.43mL/kg/d$ (<8 years) or $1.26{\pm}0.25mL/kg/d$ (8 to <12 years). There was no significant correlation between CTT test value and initial dose of laxative, irrespective of the subgroup (encopresis, abnormal CTT test subtype) for either laxative. Even in the largest group (overall, n=109, younger than 8 years and on PEG 4000), the correlation was weak (Pearson's correlation coefficient [R]=0.268, p=0.005). Within the abnormal transit group, subgroup (n=73, younger than 8 years and on PEG 4000) correlation was weak (R=0.267, p=0.022). Conclusion: CTT test value cannot predict the initial maintenance dose of PEG 4000 or lactulose with linear correlation.
