The objective of this study is to analyze the relation of critical duration according to hydrologic characteristics in urban areas. RRL, ILLUDAS, SWMM, and SMADA urban runoff models were applied to the Seongnae and Banpo watershed and experiment area of the Dong-Eui University. Also, hydrologic characteristics such as temporal pattern of rainfall, rainfall intensity formula, antecedent moisture condition, return period, and urban runoff model were used to simulate the critical duration of the test areas. The results of this study are as follows; (1) The type of temporal pattern of rainfall which causes maximum peak discharge in urban area has resulted in Huff's 4th quartile distribution. (2) The critical duration in urban areas were not influenced by hydrological factors except urban runoff model. (3) Peak discharge and critical duration in urban areas were influenced by the urban runoff model, and the SWMM model using Huff's 4th quartile distribution shows maximum critical duration.

Recently, due to increase of the impervious layer, the storage of surface layer has been reduced. Otherwise the peak runoff and the total surface runoff have been raised. Because of larger amount of the peak runoff and the rapid time of concentration, the flood damage of the urban watershed was increased. The groundwater level is descended by reducing the amount of rainfall that infiltrated into the soil. Thereby the hydrologic cycle is degenerated by the dry stream. Therefore, in this study, the evaluation and the quantitative analysis of the percolation effect were performed through the infiltration experiment of permeable pavement, which is one of the ways that can reduce the problem of the dry stream. Also the SWMM model is used to analyze the effect of the hydrologic cycle for permeable pavement in Changwon stream and Nam stream watersheds, with the coefficient of permeability from the infiltration experiments.

The objectives of this study are to develop a deterministic, distributed, and event - oriented hydrologic watershed model and to test the applicabilities of the model to small watersheds. The resulting model SRAFEM, Storm Runoff Analysis by Finite Element Method, is capable of simulating storm runoff from small watersheds using two - dimensional overland flow and one - dimensional channel flow components by. kinematic approximations and finite element method. Two small watersheds were selected and the applicability of the model was tested. The test results showed that the mean simulation errors for runoff volume and peak flow were 13.9% and 19.1 % for Yeonwha watershed. They were 42.8% and 8.0% for Banweol watershed, respectively.

The purpose of this study was to estimate of soil loss form hillslope using WEPP(Water Erosion Prediction Project) model. WEPP model was developed for predicting soil erosion and deposition, fundamentally based on soil erosion prediction technology. The model for predicting sediment yields from single storms was applied to a tested watershed. Surface runoff is calculated by kinematic wave equation and infiltration is based on the Green and Ampt equation. Governing equations for sediment continuity, detachment, deposition, shear stress in rills, and transport capacity are presented. Tested watershed has an area of 0.6ha, where the runoff and sediment data were collected. The relative error between predicted and measured runoff was $-16.6{\sim}2.2%$, peak runoff was $-15.6{\sim}2.2%$ and soil loss was $-23.9{\sim}356.5%$.

Accurate estimation of the spatial distribution of rainfall is critical to the successful modeling of hydrologic processes. The objective of this study is to evaluate the applicability of spatially distributed rainfall data. Spatially distributed rainfall was calculated using Kriging method and Thiessen method. The application of spatially distributed rainfall was appreciated to the runoff response from the watershed. The results showed that for each method the coefficient of determination for observed hydrograph was $0.92\~0.95$ and root mean square error was $9.78\~10.89$ CMS. Ordinary Kriging method showed more exact results than Simple Kriging, Universal Kriging and Thiessen method, based on comparison of observed and simulated hydrograph. The coefncient of determination for the observed peak flow was 0.9991 and runoff volume was 0.9982. The accuracy of rainfall-runoff prediction depends on the extent of spatial rainfall variability.

In this paper the watershed is divided by stream order law of Horton to estimate the runoff with stream order. We use the contour data to extract spatially distributed topographical information like stream channels and networks of sub-basins. A contour model is developed, validated, and adopted to estimate the effective stream order number for the runoff. The results show that the peak discharge which is divided into first river order was close to observed one. The contour model will provide effective informations to plan river works classified by sub-basins for river restoration.
Lake Sihwa has a very unique watershed environment, surrounded by industrial, urban and rural catchment area with different land use. The first flush phenomenon was investigated in 3 catchment area. 4TG, representing the industrial area, shows rapid discharges of highly concentrated pollutants during the early stages of a storm and it is indicating a strong first flush effect. At AS, representing the urban area, the pollutant concentration reached its peak approximately 2~3 hours after the start of storm, which is a strong first flush effect did not appear. JJB and MS represent the rural areas, the PEMC analysis results suggest that highly concentrated pollutants were discharged during the middle and latter stages of a storm, instead of early pollutant runoff due to the effects of rainwater runoff.

As the storm water runoff characteristics in urban areas have changed owing to urbanization, centralized facilities to reduce the urban flood runoff had been implemented. On the other hand, because they have their limitations, LID (Low Impact Development) of the distributed facilities for storm water runoff reduction is being actively planned and applied. The purpose of this study was to analyze the runoff characteristics for the spatial distribution of typical LID element techniques. This study set a study basin consisting of the five subbasins with the same basin and drainage systems, and analyzed the flood runoff characteristics from the two scenarios, one is for the locations and the other is for the number of green roofs (GR) and permeable pavement (PP), respectively, selected as typical LID element techniques. The SWMM implementation results showed that GR reduces 11.07% of the total and 3.42% of the peak amounts of storm water runoff, and PP leads to 18.09% of the total and 17.94% of the peak discharge reduction for a subbasin. Such a reduction rate is constant regardless of the LID locations, and increases linearly with the number of LID applications. The different runoff reduction rates between the GR and PP applications appear to be due to the effects of the different hydraulic conductivities in the control parameters for each LID.
In this study, ILLUDAS and SWMM were applied for Dongsucheon basin, Incheon and Test basin, Cheongju. The main parameters (II, IA, IS, SI, SR, SS) which are included in those of each model depending on runoff results were determined, and sensitivity ratios were estimated in order to evaluate and compare the characteristics of each modEL. Total runoff ratio for almost parameters turned out to have a linear relation to the rainfall durations and the scale of basin area but have nothing to do with rainfall distributions. Sensitivity ratios turned out to have a linear relation for the infiltration and soil parameters of ILLUDAS as well as all parameters of SWMM. ronoff sensitivity ratios for almost parameters were smaller than 1.0 because the impacts of total runoff were bigger than those of peak runoff. And runoff sensitivity ratio was equal to 1.0 for the roughness coefficient of SWMM. Total runoff ratio, peak runoff ratio and runoff sensitivity ratio for the selected parameters of those models were presented asthe tables and figures according to the scale of basin area, rainfall durations such as 60, 120, and 180 minutes and Huff's 4th quartiles rainfall distributions. Keywords : ILLUDAS, SWMM, parameter, sensitivity analysis, sensitivity ratio.
The purpose of the present study is to analyze pollutant runoff characteristics from non-point sources in Joman River basin. The present study contains analyzed results of rainfall and SS, BOD, COD, TN, TP runoff from Joman River basin. This study contains a sensitivity analysis of parameters that affect the simulation results of rainfall and pollutants runoff. Result of the sensitivity analysis shows that proportion of watershed and impervious areas is the most sensitive to peak discharge and total flowrate for rainfall runoff and that WASHPO is the most sensitive parameter for pollutants runoff. For parameter estimation and verification, flowrate and water quality is measured at the Kangdong Bridge in Haeban stream. A single rainfall event is use to perform parameter estimation and verification. Results of the present study show that total pollutant loads of Joman River basin is 11,600 ton of SS, 452 ton of BOD, 1,084 ton of COD, 515 ton of TN, and 49 ton of TP, respectively. In addition, it is found that contribution ratio of non point source and total source is 89% of SS, 63% of BOD, 61% of COD, 21% of TN, and 32% of TP, respectively.
