In this paper, the transformer type superconducting fault current limiter (SFCL) with additionally coupled circuit was suggested and its peak fault current limiting characteristics due to the fault condition to affect the fault current were analyzed through the fault current limiting tests. The suggested transformer type SFCL is basically identical to the previous transformer type SFCL except for the additional coupled circuit. The additional coupled circuit, which consists of the magnetically coupled winding to the primary and the secondary windings together with another superconducting element and is connected in parallel with the secondary winding of the transformer type SFCL, is contributed to the peak fault current limiting operation for the larger transient fault current directly after the fault occurrence. To confirm the fault current limiting operation of the suggested SFCL, the fault current limiting tests of the suggested SFCL were performed and its effective peak fault current limiting characteristics were analyzed through the analysis on the electrical equivalent circuit.
PURPOSES : In this study, analyze the characteristics of IOC indicator 'threshold' which is needed when evaluating the traffic signal operation status with ESPRESSO in various grade road traffic environment of Seoul metropolitan city and derive suggested value to use in field practice. METHODS : Using the computerized database program (Postgresql), we extracted data with regional characteristics (Arterial, Collector road) and temporal characteristics (peak hour, non-peak hour). Analysis of variance and Duncan's validation were performed using statistical analysis program (SPSS) to confirm whether the extracted data contains statistical significance. RESULTS : The analysis period of the main and secondary arterial roads was confirmed to be suitable from 14 days to 60 days. For the arterial, it is suggested to use 20 km/h as the critical speed for PM peak hour and weekly non peak hour. It is suggested to use 25 km/h as the critical speed for AM peak hour and night non peak hour. As for the collector road, it is suggested to use 20 km/h as the critical speed for PM peak hour and weekly non peak hour. It is suggested to use 30 km/h as the critical speed for AM peak hour and night non peak hour. CONCLUSIONS : It is meaningful from a methodological point of view that it is possible to make a reasonable comparative analysis on the signal intersection pre-post analysis when the signal operation DB is renewed by breaking the existing traffic signal operation evaluation method.

RCM is used to clarify the complex phenomena of engine combustion. In order to describe engine combustion, several significant experimental studies are considered. Prediction of the peak pressure is very important since it has a significant influence on engine combustion. In addition, peak-temperature variation can be calculated from the measured peak pressure by using the fundamental thermodynamic relation. When the RCM is in operation, heat transfer occurs through the cylinder wall. Because of this phenomenon, it is difficult to determine the peak pressure without employing the case by case experimental method. The goal of this study is to evaluate the peak pressure analytically. We conduct an experiment to confirm the relationship between the peak pressure and some parameters. Using the results of the peak pressure variation experiment, we develop a general equation that be used to calculate the peak pressure as a function of operation time and compression ratio.
This study focuses on the development of the conceptual criteria which could be applied to the speed-up strategy of urban rail operation. Down town segment or not, and peak hour or not are the criteria. The author suggests that in the case of down town segment and peak hour urban rail should take the all-stop pattern, if down town segment and off peak hour, then skip-stop pattern, if not-down town segment and peak hour, the A, B skip-stop, and if not-down town segment and off peak hour, the A, B, C skip-stop. If side lines, three rail, or 2 double lines, then express train operation is recommended in the peak hour. Then this study recommends speed-up strategies of each 8 urban lines.

The world's electricity production ratio is 40% for coal, 20% for natural gas, 16% for hydroelectric power, 15% for nuclear power and 6% for petroleum. Fossil fuels also cause serious problems in terms of price and supply because of the high concentration of resources on the earth. Solar energy is attracting attention as a next-generation eco-friendly energy that will replace fossil fuels with these problems. In this study, we test the charge-operation plan and the discharge operation plan for peak-cut operation by applying the maximum power demand reduction simulation. To do this, we selected the electricity usage from November to February, which has the largest amount of power usage, and applied charge / discharge logic. Simulation results show that the contract power decreases as the peak demand power after the ESS Peak-cut service is reduced to 50% of the peak-target power. As a result, the contract power reduction can reduce the basic power value of the customer and not only the economic superiority can be expected, but also contribute to the improvement of the electric quality and stabilization of the power supply system.
This paper describes the Utility Interactive PV (UIPV) system which can improve the peak-cut effect by adding an energy storage device of batteries to the power converter. The proposed system has three possible operation modes depending on relative condition of PV output, which can have the power shaping function covering the peak power for 3 hours. A new power circuit and an application algorithm have been applied to the UIPV system which is based on working PV system during a 3-hour peak time. The energy relationship by the proposed system is analyzed theoretically and experimentally. The proposed system is evaluated at the viewpoint of cost and total spacing, which enables the proposed UIPV system to have the reduction of the peak power demand and hence to improve the power capacity of peak cut.
QPSK (Quaternary Phase Shift Keying) will be adopted as the modulation of HRIT (High Rate Information Transmission) which is transmitted to COMS (Communication, Ocean and Meteorological Satellite) through HPA (High Power Amplifier) in ground segment. Due to the nonlinearity of HPA, IMD (Inter-Modulation Distortion) of multi-carrier signals and PAPR (Peak-to-Average Power Ratio) of modulated HRIT must be considered to estimate the output power of HPA. In this paper, we measured the PAPR to various the roll-off factor of RRC (Root Raised Cosine filter) which is filtering the modulated HRIT signal for reducing ISI (Inter-Symbol Interference) and bandwidth. It was found that the minimum PAPR is 2.78dB at 0.5 of roll-off factor for scrambled data. It's 2.78dB of P APR will be in output power selecting in COMS earth station.

ECG consists of various types of electrical signal on the heart, and feature point of these signals can be detected by analyzing the arrhythmia. So far, feature points extraction method for the detection of arrhythmia done in the many studies. However, it is not suitable for portable device using real time operation due to complicated operation. In this paper, R-peak were extracted using R-R interval and QRS width informations on patients. First, noise of low frequency bands eliminated using butterworth filter, and the R-peak was extracted by R-R interval moving average and QRS width moving average. In order to verify, it was experimented to compare the R-peak of data in MIT-BIH arrhythmia database and the R-peak of suggested algorithm. As a results, it showed an excellent detection for feature point of R-peak, even during the process of operation could be efficient way to confirm.
Recently, electricity consumption has rapidly increased along with economic growth. The operating strategy using emergency generator is aimed, to resolve a demand response management. For strategy of peak shedding using emergency generator, it is essential to introduce the fast transfer switching device. One of the most effective solutions is to use a static transfer switch (STS) based on thyristor. However, the characteristic of natural commutated SCR thyristor should anticipate short duration voltage sag. STS system thus requires more than a quarter cycle to successfully complete transfer process. This paper proposes the operation scheme of the STS system using the forced-commutation technique to mitigate instantaneous voltage sag during peak transfer process. Proposed STS system improved turn-off characteristic thus accomplishes the peak load shedding satisfied power quality. Performance of the proposed STS system is evaluated using electromagnetic transient program (EMTP) to confirm the effectiveness.
This paper proposes an open-loop clock recovery circuit (CRC) using two high-Q dielectric resonator (DR) filters for 39.8 Gb/s and 42.8 Gb/s dual-mode operation. The DR filters are fabricated to obtain high Q-values of approximately 950 at the 40 GHz band and to suppress spurious resonant modes up to 45 GHz. The CRC is implemented in a compact module by integrating the DR filters with other circuits in the CRC. The peak-to-peak and RMS jitter values of the clock signals recovered from 39.8 Gb/s and 42.8 Gb/s pseudo-random binary sequence (PRBS) data with a word length of $2^{31}-1$ are less than 2.0 ps and 0.3 ps, respectively. The peak-to-peak amplitudes of the recovered clocks are quite stable and within the range of 2.5 V to 2.7 V, even when the input data signals vary from 150 mV to 500 mV. Error-free operation of the 40 Gb/s-class optical receiver with the dual-mode CRC is confirmed at both 39.8 Gb/s and 42.8 Gb/s data rates.
