국내 연안 카페리 차량 고박 장치 안전성에 관한 연구: 제I부 직접하중계산법을 이용한 선체 운동 가속도 산정 (Study on Structural Safety of Car Securing Equipment for Coastal Carferry: Part I Estimation of Hull Acceleration using Direct Load Approach)

  • The capsizing and consequent sinking of a coastal car ferry was recently reported, with numerous human casualties. The primary cause was determined to be a sudden turn with improperly stowed and secured cargo. Part I of this study introduces how long term acceleration components are determined from seakeeping analyses. A carferry with a displacement of 1,633 tonf was selected as the target vessel. Sea data that included the significant wave heights and periods were collected at four observation buoys, some of which were far away from two main voyage routes: Incheon-Jeju and Pusan-Jeju. Frequency response analyses were performed to obtain the linearized radiation force coefficients, hydrostatic stiffnesses, and wave excitation forces. Time response analyses were sequentially performed to produce the motion-induced acceleration processes. The probabilistic distributions of the acceleration components were determined using a peak and valley counting method. Long term extreme acceleration components were proposed as a final result.

지진하중을 받는 정사각형 강재 액체저장탱크의 벽면 압력 응답 해석 (Earthquake-Induced Wall Pressure Response Analysis of a Square Steel Liquid Storage Tank)

  • This study examines earthquake-induced sloshing effects on liquid storage tanks using computation fluid dynamics. To achieve this goal, this study selects an existing square steel tank tested by Seismic Simulation Test Center at Pusan National University as a case study. The model validation was firstly performed through the comparison of shaking table test data and simulated results for the water tank subjected to a harmonic excitation. For a realistic estimation of the wall pressure response of the water tank, three recorded earthquakes with similar peak ground acceleration are applied:1940 El Centro earthquake, 2016 Gyeongju earthquake, and 2017 Pohang earthquake. Wall pressures monitored during the dynamic analyses are examined and compared for different earthquake motions and monitoring points, using power spectrum density. Finally, the maximum dynamic pressure for three earthquakes is compared with the design pressure calculated from a seismic design code. Results indicated that the maximum pressure from the El Centro earthquake exceeds the design pressure although its peak ground acceleration is less than 0.4 g, which is the design acceleration. On the other hand, the maximum pressure due to two Korean earthquakes does not reach the design pressure. Thus, engineers should not consider only the peak ground acceleration when determining the design pressure of water tanks.

Regularization Parameter Selection for Total Variation Model Based on Local Spectral Response

  • In the past decades, various image regularization methods have been introduced. Among them, total variation model has drawn much attention for the reason of its low computational complexity and well-understood mathematical behavior. However, regularization parameter estimation of total variation model is still an open problem. To deal with this problem, a novel adaptive regularization parameter selection scheme is proposed in this paper, by means of using the local spectral response, which has the capability of locally selecting the regularization parameters in a content-aware way and therefore adaptively adjusting the weights between the two terms of the total variation model. Experiment results on simulated and real noisy image show the good performance of our proposed method, in visual improvement and peak signal to noise ratio value.

Nonlinear runoff during extreme storms in the Seolma-Cheon watershed

  • This study investigates the impact of event characteristics on runoff dynamics during extreme flood events observed in a $8.5km^2$ experimental watershed located in South Korea. The 37 most extreme flood events with event rainfall in excess of 50 mm were analysed using an event-based rainfall-runoff model; the Revitalised Flood Hydrograph (ReFH) routinely used for design flood estimation in the United Kingdom. The ReFH model was fitted to each event in turn, and links were investigated between each of the two model parameters controlling runoff production and response time, respectively, and event characteristics such as rainfall depth, duration, intensity and also antecedent soil moisture. The results show that the structure of the ReFH model can effectively accommodate any nonlinearity in runoff production, but that the linear unit hydrograph fails to adequately represent a reduction in watershed response time observed for the more extreme events. By linking the unit hydrograph shape directly to rainfall depth, the consequence of the observed nonlinearity in response time is to increase design peak flow by between 50% for a 10 year return period, and up to 80% when considering the probable maximum flood (PMF).

  • During certification of freefall lifeboats, it is necessary to estimate the injury potential of the impact loads exerted on the occupants during water entry. This paper focused on the numerical simulation to predict the acceleration response during the impact of freefall lifeboats on the water using FSI(Fluid-Structure Interaction) analysis technique of LS-DYNA code. FSI problems could be conveniently simulated by the overlapping capability using Arbitrary Lagrangian Eulerian(ALE) formulation and Euler-Lagrange coupling algorithm of LS-DYNA code. Through this study, it could be found that simulation results were in relatively good agreement with experimental ones in the acceleration peak values, and that the loading conditions were very sensitive to the acceleration responses by the experimental and simulation results.

Joint Time Delay and Angle Estimation Using the Matrix Pencil Method Based on Information Reconstruction Vector

  • A single snapshot data can only provide limited amount of information so that the rank of covariance matrix is not full, which is not adopted to complete the parameter estimation directly using the traditional super-resolution method. Aiming at solving the problem, a joint time delay and angle estimation using matrix pencil method based on information reconstruction vector for orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (OFDM) signal is proposed. Firstly, according to the channel frequency response vector of each array element, the algorithm reconstructs the vector data with delay and angle parameter information from both frequency and space dimensions. Then the enhanced data matrix for the extended array element is constructed, and the parameter vector of time delay and angle is estimated by the two-dimensional matrix pencil (2D MP) algorithm. Finally, the joint estimation of two-dimensional parameters is accomplished by the parameter pairing. The algorithm does not need a pseudo-spectral peak search, and the location of the target can be determined only by a single receiver, which can reduce the overhead of the positioning system. The theoretical analysis and simulation results show that the estimation accuracy of the proposed method in a single snapshot and low signal-to-noise ratio environment is much higher than that of Root Multiple Signal Classification algorithm (Root-MUSIC), and this method also achieves the higher estimation performance and efficiency with lower complexity cost compared to the one-dimensional matrix pencil algorithm.

3차원 FEM 모델링에 의한 수평 도전성 관로의 전자기 반응 특성 (EM Responses of Buried Conductive Pipes Calculated by 3-D Finite Element Method)

  • 저주파수 전자탐사 관로 탐지기 개발 및 현장 운용시의 지침을 마련하기 위해 3차원 유한요소법을 이용해서 수평 자기 쌍극자 송신원에 의한 도전성 지하 매설 관로의 전자기 반응을 계산하고 그 특성을 분석하였다. 단일 관로의 전자기 반응은 수평 자기장 및 수직 자기장의 수평 차분치 모두 관로 직상부에서 최대값을 나타낸다. 반응 곡선에서 최대값의 1/2이 되는 위치의 폭은 수평 자기장의 경우 수직 자기장의 수평 차분치보다 2배 정도 넓으며, 이는 수직 자기장의 수평 차분치가 관로 위치 분해능이 높은 것을 의미한다. 그리고 관로의 심도 계산식이 관로의 직상부에서만 정의되기 때문에 분해능이 높은 수직 자기장의 수평 차분치를 측정하는 것이 관로 심도 결정시 유리할 것이다. 서로 2 m 떨어진 이중 관로의 전자기 반응은 수직 자기장의 수평 차분의 경우 송신기 하부 및 인접 관로의 상부 모두에서 반응 곡선의 피크가 보인다. 이에 반해 수평 자기장의 경우는 인접 관로에 의한 자기장은 송신기 하부 관로에 의한 자기장에 의해 상쇄되어 송신기 하부 관로에 의한 피크만 나온다. 이로 미루어 볼 때 지하에 다수의 관로가 인접하여 매설되어 있는 상황에서는 수직 자기장의 수평 차분을 측정함으로써 다수 관로의 탐지도 가능할 것으로 보인다. 그리고 반응 곡선의 폭을 비교할 때, 단일 관로에서와 마찬가지로 분해능은 수직 자기장의 수평 차분치를 측정하는 것이 수평 자기장을 측정하는 것에 비해 뛰어난 것으로 판단된다.

Application of recursive SSA as data pre-processing filter for stochastic subspace identification

  • The objective of this paper is to develop on-line system parameter estimation and damage detection technique from the response measurements through using the Recursive Covariance-Driven Stochastic Subspace identification (RSSI-COV) approach. To reduce the effect of noise on the results of identification, discussion on the pre-processing of data using recursive singular spectrum analysis (rSSA) is presented to remove the noise contaminant measurements so as to enhance the stability of data analysis. Through the application of rSSA-SSI-COV to the vibration measurement of bridge during scouring experiment, the ability of the proposed algorithm was proved to be robust to the noise perturbations and offers a very good online tracking capability. The accuracy and robustness offered by rSSA-SSI-COV provides a key to obtain the evidence of imminent bridge settlement and a very stable modal frequency tracking which makes it possible for early warning. The peak values of the identified $1^{st}$ mode shape slope ratio has shown to be a good indicator for damage location, meanwhile, the drastic movements of the peak of $2^{nd}$ mode slope ratio could be used as another feature to indicate imminent pier settlement.

미계측 유역의 유출량 산정을 위한 합성단위도 개발 (Development of Synthetic Unit Hydrograph for Estimation of Runoff in Ungauged Watershed)

  • The synthetic unit hydrograph is developed and verified using Nash model and characteristic velocities considering geomorphological dispersion in this present study. Application watersheds are selected 5 subwatersheds of Bocheong basin. The mean and variance of hillslope and stream path length are estimated in each watershed with GIS. Characteristic velocities are calculated using estimated path lengths and moment characteristics of rainfall-runoff data. Characteristic velocities of random devised 7 ungauged watersheds are estimated through regional analysis of chracteristic velocities in guaged watershed. And Nash model parameters and IUH are derived using characteristic velocities and path length in the gauged and ungauged watershed. The result to compare of IUH about gauged watershed and random devised ungauged watershed in application watershed presents coherently hydrologic response characteristics that peak discharge is reduced and peak time is extended. In conclusion, Developed synthetic unit hydrograph in this study expects that it is useful method to estimate runoff discharge for managing of water pollution in ungauged watershed.

수직방향 전신 충격진동의 불편함 평가를 위한 주파수가중곡선 개발 (Development of Frequency Weighting Shape for Evaluation of Discomfort due to Vertical Whole-body Shock Vibration)

  • Shock vibrations are usually experienced in vehicles excited by impulsive input, such as bumps. The frequency weighting functions of the current standards in ISO 2631 and BS 6841 are to help objectively predict the amount of discomfort of stationary vibration. This experimental study was designed to develop frequency weighting shape for shock vibration having various fundamental frequencies from 0.5 to 16Hz. The specks were produced from the response of single. degree-of-freedom model to a half-sine force input. Fifteen subjects used the magnitude estimation method to judge the discomfort of vertical shock vibration generated on the rigid seat mounted on the simulator. The magnitudes of the shocks, expressed in terms of both peak-to-peak value and un-weighted vibration dose values (VDVs) , were correlated with magnitude estimates of the discomfort. The frequency weighting shapes from the correlation were developed and investigated having nonlinearity due to the magnitude of the shock.
